I think the last time Ballaz came back from suspension he was quiet the first week then a dynamo the next?

That depends if he brings the ball to ground or not. If he does it lets the smaller guys have a crack at it.

Nah it's whether he can put pressure on the opposition running out of the backline. He's slow and has the turning circle of the Titanic. I'd rather another running player.

Lyons overriding message when you hear him talk and when the players talk is "Give great effort" and "Play your role in the team" and "Play your way in and play your way out".

Draw your own conclusions from there.

He was easily worst on ground for Freo.

So you find it constructive picking your "worst player" in a team that wins by 68 points. I prefer the players that stand up when the game is in the balance.
Ballas is in the first 5 to make my team, maybe 10 by some to be picked in starting lineup.

You do NOT drop players after a convincing win, you drop them after a flogging.

I like Hannath but I don't think you can have him in the same team as Sandi.

Imagine them both in the forward line, Foxtel would inundated with phone calls that the game is being shown in slow motion.

On the news they said Pav will most likely play.

Channel 7 said he is likely, Channel 9 said he is unlikely!!

More importantly RTB said that Walters was fine after the game but Pav was not as good.

The testing starts tomorrow and it will all depend on that.

Don't think RTB was taking the mikey either, Pav looked very quiet on the sideline and in the change rooms, let's just be thankful that we are not dealing with a fractured cheekbone.

Yeah he didn't look happy.

Ross said that Pav had also copped a knock in the Sydney game, so I wouldn't be surprised if he sat the next one out.

Yeah this. Pav still has versatility (sends himself into the middle), can kick goals, and is a genuine target. He also leads as a link up one out at times. Pulling in Hannath on the grounds that he can provide a marking target eliminates the other 90% of the game when he's not having a ball kicked on his head. I'd rather Crozier in with Clarke up forward a little more, mayne as the main target, and generally being mobile. It's not like essendon have a heap of good small defenders - it's one of their weaknesses

This is the last week WADA can appeal the drugs case. The Essendon players are going to be fairly preoccupied this week with off-field stuff.

Who knows how it will work out? If WADA appeals, the players could galvanize and "be brave". Or if there is no appeal, they could be relaxed and play freely, knowing there are no problems for the future. Or they could just play like shit again and get flogged, regardless of what WADA does. I lean towards the latter.

As for changes, I would go with:
OUT: Pavlich, Walters [don't care if they pass the concussion "tests", should be a mandatory rest]
IN: Crozier, Mzungu

Would not be bringing in Hannath. Having Sandi, Clarke and Hannath in the same team would not be a great idea.

Playing Devil's Advocate here;
Hannath is more rangy than Pavlich without impacting a stoppage, he runs past the play to put a tall pair of hands on the half back line and manages to plonk himself under the ball a bit when he does it.

Ultimately the game will be won in the middle but if our delivery inside fifty is the same long kicks to contested "Talls" inside fifty it might be nice to have a tall sitting under it other than Taberner, release Mayne to play on Hibberd.

Like in that thriller against Richmond in 2013 :)

I like big Jack but agree that I don't think he can play in the same side as 211.

Agreed! If we need another marking target, Fyfe can spend some time around the half forward line or even deep one-out if we can manipulate a mismatch, hopefully with Neale, Suban etc picking up the slack at the stoppages.

If we can get clean delivery into the 50 from stoppages, then a combination of Clarke/Sandi, Mayne, Tabs and Fyfe (if needed) should offer enough height in the forward 50. We'll be more mobile when the ball hits the deck as well.

Mzungu to play WAFL for a full game, he needs some touch.

Sheridan in
If Walters and Pav are fit then De Boer out, else who ever is not passed fit comes out.
If both are out then Crozier comes in.

We can play Fyfe forward, Sandi and Clarke can rest deep forward to provide tall options and our midfield are kicking lots of goals.

Yeah nah ... epic fail.

Seriously?

Apology accepted.

Im with Jedi..Ballas can use a run in the twos. Hasn't played well yet this year and been out for a few weeks while others have been excelling at Peel. I understand hes leadership group..what better way to show leadership than to go through the system.

Yep, agree this could work so long as the midfield continues to lower the eyes and does not just bomb it into the forward 50 because we will not be taking many pack marks.

If, however, Hannath does gets a crack after very solid form in the WAFL, I will still watch his performance with interest.

I have very little hope that Pav will be available.

Nobody at Peel comes close to what Balla offers.
