Happy with the ins. Not happy with the outs. But to be honest Tabs is producing less than Mayne so I can sort of see this. I guess if you are planning on the opposition then a shorter more mobile forward line will give Norf manning up challenges. Only plus I can see.

Lol really? He started in the centre at least once - I find this difficult to believe.
Yeah, that's why I did say 'thought' -radio wasn't very clear but Karl Langdon was asking Ross if Suban was put on to Rhys Shaw to quell his run out of the backline in the second half. Probably heard Ross' reply wrong.

I think we may see a slightly different approach this week and we have clearly gone for a bit more speed. I reckon Ross has some things up his sleeve that will surprise North. I sense a sleeping demon. Expect a Goo or a Pearce to unexpectedly kick a bag

Good ins!!!!!
For the stats experts, is this the first time Sheridan, Neale, Sutcliffe and Croz have played in the same team in a legit game ( I am discounting the tank vs saints last year)?
The future is now, Ross please put em all in the 21 and Suban or Clancee as sub.

Nah cant happen,4 young uns in an RTB team:rolleyes:

Clarke is a good ruckman, but he has done very little up forward. I think we should ruck Clarke and Sandi 50/50 to give Sandi more time up forward.

With how they're calling arm chops these days, Sandi would struggle to get a free kick (and would be running around with two arms severed at the elbow), and would be a liability on the rebound. He's been hitting it pretty well in the ruck this year. We didn't get enough out of it against the Swans as they defended the clearances so well, but against other teams it could break the game open.

I think that this argument might be a little of "can't see the woods for the trees". Surely the best measure is not contested or uncontested but "marks inside 50". It really doesn't matter if it's contested or not. I am sure that Collingwood supporters would be happy if cloak was taking one extra mark inside 50 per match and don't really care if its contested or not. The aim is "shots on goal".
I watched moneyball and the biggest thing about that movie is learning to pick the most important stats. For them getting onto first base is the aim. Everything else is vanity because if everyone gets to first most will get home too. IMHO for forwards the ones that count, in order of importance, are;
  1. shots at goal (IMHO you need to be 3 or more to be a forward, players who aren't are not forwards)
  2. conversion rate (IMHO this needs to be well over 60%)
  3. marks inside 50 (because they should almost always translate into 1)

You missed goal and score assists, pressure acts, tackles inside 50 (which you already identified)... even stuff like effective disposals can be useful.

Different forwards, different roles, different criteria. Can't use the same measures for all of 'em.

Suban was quiet but I thought I heard Ross say in a press conference during the week that he used Suban in the second half as a defensive forward and that he did the required job?

Interesting. Hadn't heard that... but believe you that you did. On 6PR?

I would like Silvagni as the Sub only because if Mayne isn't firing he can come into that roll .
I think Clarke and Sandi are going to interchange from a forward pocket all day or at least that's the plan .

It was on 6PR, and Karl made the point that Suban looked like he played the 2nd half on Shaw as a defensive forward. I thought RTB said he did, but it was fleeting and he could have just as easily said 'he didn't'. I wasn't fully focussing on the radio at the time.

On AFL 360 David King said that Harvey did not conduct himself with a great deal of dignity or integrity after he made the accusations against Crowley.Said something else about how for a 300 game player he wouldn't be very happy with how he conducted himself.
Suggested to me that we might not be the only ones who know he's a lying,snivelling,rat's-arsewipe.

Not saying you heard wrong as such, just that if it was the reason given then I would assume the coach is deflecting from possible criticism of a player who had underperformed.

Nah unless he's changed his mind last year he was sitting next to that Archer moron saying that Crowley definitely would've done it.

Having watched all the grand finals of the last 20 years a couple of years ago, the most perplexing Norm Smith remains Glenn Archer's. He wasn't even in the top five that day.

I hope we dont do anything stupid this Friday before the bounce by getting into Boomer and give away a free kick from the get go. You can bank on the fact we're going to go after him straight away and get in his ear- we just have to be disciplined about it. I'm also weary of Harvey taking a dive - he has form in that area.

I wouldve thought the sledging in this case would be more appropriate than the customary jumper punches and handbags that are usually thrown before the bounce.

WILL YOU PLEASE GIVE THIS SILVAGNI SHIT A BREAK PLEASE??

HE IS AN EMERGENCY.

DEAL WITH IT.

In saying that, I am looking forward to seeing Majak Daw play.
