With a 4-0 record, Brisbane's "rivalry" with GWS is the most lopsided in the league's short history. It is one of only two all-inaugural-club head-to-heads in which a team is yet to win at least once (the other also involves the Giants, with their 0-3 record against Carlton).

On the other end of the scale, Adelaide will meet Gold Coast for the first occasion. The two clubs were meant to play each other in Round 7 last year in Southport. The Suns would have been a red hot chance to win that, but time has not been kind to this initial encounter.

Also, take note of the irregular starting times of some matches this weekend. Particularly the Friday "night" game at 5.10pm, but also Sunday's games starting 30 minutes earlier than what has been typical practice.

Well I should lay off the potential mozz statements, but can't help myself: Melbourne do have a much better record in front of goal at Casey Fields, where they've scored a total of 80.66 at 55% accuracy (which includes that time they had 10 straight at 3QT against Fremantle). At all other grounds, they've scored 94.136 at 41%.

Even before this year, they had only managed 14.22 at Whitten Oval from 3 games, and 3.8 in one game at Victoria Park.

That said, they have had one real off-target day down in Cranbourne before, kicking 4.10 in a must-win Friday night match against Brisbane in 2018. Nevertheless, they did win that match.

Could be a nasty score for Gold Coast being 5th away game against red hot Adelaide I am fearful of the winning margin if they get their way

Is this to do with the men’s AAMI community series starting this weekend?

Yes, though I'm not sure why the scheduling for Saturday's games is still business as usual.

But I do know Gill and co. have been wanting to test a few different fixturing arrangements in relation to men's matches for a while now, such as the early Friday slot for AFLW as a lead-in, so there'll be more irregularities when the AFL premiership season gets underway.

Nice of Gil to put Richmond at punt road at 5.10 and then at marvel at 7.25.
Going to be hard getting to both games

Teams for tomorrow:
Bernardi still listed as an emergency for Richmond after kicking 3 in the VFLW. There are similar selection conundrums for other teams, such as Tarrant (kicked 5 for Casey), Barber (kicked 3 for Geelong) and Matin (kicked 3 for the Saints).

Also, updated FTA TV details for the 5 major capitals in the OP, but here's a tabular summary:

AFLWr6FTA.png

Also note that games on Saturday and Sunday will be on Fox Sports 257/503 instead of Fox Footy 504.

It shouldn't be a conundrum for Geelong - omit Boyd and play Barber

I know it was only the VFLW in which Barber kicked 3 goals last week, but in her 13 games across 3 seasons for Geelong, Boyd has kicked a total of 4 goals

Look to the future and give a youngster a chance - I know she's only kicked the 1 goal this year, but she's looked more likely to get in the scoreboard this year than Boyd

Interesting little stat heading into Round 6.
Must've played Fremantle and West Coast in Singapore...

Carrying on with this narrative even after the Round 7-9 fixture has been released is very silly.

I must say, this year has definitely improved in standards for most clubs. The disposal skills have picked up and I’m seeing more dare and dash. I also like the revamped Finals system, with the top 6 vying for the major rounds. No doubt the most competitive season we’ve had, and a GF where we can say both teams would be well deserved to participate in!

They just need to allow everyone to play each other once in future.

At the end of this season I believe that Geelong will have played 23 official matches, and in 3 seasons of AFLW we're yet to play Melbourne in an official match

There's just something kinda crazy about that, and the sooner we play every team once per season or at least once every 2 seasons the better

51 marks to 9 at half time. Richmond, a little/lot slow to react when the ball is turned over, but overall they've been trying to move the ball with good intent and they might get a bit of reward for that in Q4, pending persistence and some luck.

Or even Q3!

That might have felt like a contest to see which team could incite more We Suck Again gifs, but it was quite a good game of football from siren-to-siren, regardless of the one-sided scoreboard at times.

And another thing, late inclusion Christina Bernardi tonight kicked multiple goals in an AFLW game for the first time since 16th Feb 2019.

Could she have possibly found a bit of form and confidence via the VFLW last week, even though she was merely playing for Port Melbourne? Feel like it's worth asking the question, given that Richmond supposedly s**t on women's football by not fielding a standalone reserves team.
