I'm not really sure where to post this, but I have just been looking at some of the highest ranked teams and they honestly don't look that good. They seem to have a lot of mid-pricers that have gotten off to great starts as well as a heap of non-playing loophole rookies that will seriously limit the cash generation of the teams and consequently will require additional trades in coming weeks, not to mention they will struggle throughout the byes. Is this a fair observation? Has anyone got their eyes peeled on any teams that stand out above the rest in the top 10 or so?

Yep, and these teams don't seem to have failed breakout contenders like Newnes, Lumumba etc. A lot of teams have super strong round 12 players in midfield and up forward and haven't balanced it out yet. The bloke who's on top I reckon got the jump through his defenders going big and players like Neale go off a few weeks ago, he currently has Lewis on the pine and has Bonti and Parker in midfield. Vanilla forwardline also, I reckon he'll be overrun next week.

Personally I don't agree with the throwaway ruck/fwd like Cox/Read/McLaren and people use Lambert or a WCE def/mid called Adamson in other positions for the same thing to loophole, I have Naismith and hope he will play eventually and traded out Lamb due to injury.

Is this a fair observation? Has anyone got their eyes peeled on any teams that stand out above the rest in the top 10 or so?
I thought the bloke who is in 61st spot now was ready to pounce last week as he was 12th and had the best team value out of the top 20 or something, he had a few let him down this week and only got 2096.

Teams who were 55th and 47th last week moved up to 3rd and 4th this week through scores of just over 2350. It's all about nailing that breakout week early enough. I got 2540 in round 7 last year and set me up to challenge through the multi bye rounds but I made a couple of poor moves which hurt long term to try and upgrade my team quickly. Spent about 10 weeks in the top 100 and from round 8 onwards in the top 275. Ended up with JPK and Fyfe on the pine out lol. Picked an inform Breust over Gray also as an early upgrade which was a facepalm.

Struggling this year though due to poor round 1 and 3 scores, sitting at 7700. Playing moneyball at the moment and trying to build squad depth as that killed me last year down back with fringe rookies on the bench barely playing, then half my midfield went down in round 21, probably happened to everyone else also though.

Very interesting post, you've got a keen eye on the top teams! I'm chuffed to be on the first page of the "topcoaches" for the first time :). The teams in 3rd and 4th look particularly weak actually. Their team value is very low too. I think the guy who's 4th has something like 12k in the bank and a value only just over $11,700,000; he'll struggle with so many loopholing players later on. Some dubious selections in there as well haha. Can't really be too critical though, obviously its working so far! I'm hoping my team value gives me the opportunity to keep rising in the coming weeks. I'm very concerned about having too many R12 players however, so trying to keep and eye on it. Unfortunately we don't have a lot of choice with the upcoming rookies, but the premium selections will certainly be interesting. Good luck climbing the ranks :thumbsu:.

If supercoach was based on calorie intake, Hibberd would be GAJ.

I dont know what happened to him, but it seems to me that the drugs he was on gave him the ability to actually go and get the ball.

Its like he is allergic to contact now, and just picks up cheap link positions.

4 CP, 0 CM and 1 tackle from a backman is a pathetic return, he applies no pressure.

Was never a type to win his own ball, it seems this year however that contested possession numbers are up over the past few seasons, teams aren't allowing opponents easy, uncontested possessions, more teams are applying forward pressure and are getting numbers to the ball and the contests, we've seen plenty of players top 20+ contested possessions per game this season which is quite a high number. Alot of the uncontested ball winners are missing out on some of the easy ball they would usually win and I also think this is why the KPDs are scoring higher than usual as the possessions they do win are usually contested and intercept possessions which score highly too. I don't have stats on hand to back me up but to me it seems like a trend in the CP/UP ratio being skewed towards the CP side of things.

As an aside, it's also one of the many reasons why Carlton are shit, our best inside ball winner is a kid who has played 8 games of senior football, coupled with the fact that we don't actually have anyone that can run with the ball on the outside if we do win the inside ball. **** this team.

I hope all those loophole players come back to bite him tbh.

They're ranked so highly because they didn't start with: GAJ, Rocky, Bartel, Beams, Wines, Gray, Sloane, Malcheski

2156 saw me move from 13k to 11k. Won my 2 cash leagues including tragics 2 which I'm stoked with.
I'm 2-3 in Tragics 2 and ranked 76k :thumbsu:

o_Oo_O

The week he missed Hogan went nuts.......most Gray owners would of had him on the bench with no loopholes. Gray out opened the loophole.
Good point :thumbsu:
