Parish 44 disposals ---- 310 metres gained

Adams 18 disposals ---- 305 metres gained

Says pretty much that disposals are bullshit and as you said only good for supercoach

The Essendon seagulls (Parish, Merrett, McGrath) had a shitload between them but did no damage at all. Shiel was their best player who at least broke the lines and moved the ball forward.

Disposals mean SFA if you're just going laterally or handballing 3 metres to a player under pressure. Those 3 mentioned got a heap of cheap ball yesterday. It is very reminiscent of how we use to play, high possession, high handball team that didn't hurt the opposition at all who just waited for the turnover.

Madgen gets marked harshly because he is the the only pseudo tall defender for us who actually mans up his opponent and plays a defensive game. There were so many times today where an Essendon mid hit up a forward on a lead and Madge was the only one who was near him. The other other guys look great on tv when they come in from nowhere to spoil or intercept. What's not shown is them sagging off and being nowhere near it when the rebound play doesn't come off.
Against us, it was a good tactic by Rutten to load up the midfield so that they had spares and thus entries were kicked with less pressure enabling them to spot up zoned off targets. I think we'll see more coaches try that against us. When it occurs, we'll need to either match numbers in the midfield or shift to a tighter checking defence.

That's a coaching thing, not a player driven move.

Potentially, but we don’t know for sure. I thinks it’s as much that Moore and Howe back themselves to read the play and cover whatever eventuates. If by a coaching thing you mean that they’re given the freedom to do it then yes, I also think it’s a coaching thing. I wouldn’t want them to stop but I think it works better when Roughy and Crispy are both in defence. Roughy for his reading of the play, and Crispy for his pace, but it’s been a work in progress since the loss of Langdon.

De Goey 27 possessions------~405m gained

I noticed Parish racking up the ball, but I do think that DeGoey was more damaging. Matthew Lloyd agreed.
JDG's field kicking was excellent again yesterday and he really gets on the move at stoppages.

Never had any doubt of Pendles greatness one of the very best to have played with us.
The great man swung the game our way when he plonked himself in the middle in the final quarter, how he stops time and dances around opponents is sublime , his opponents can’t read his next movement , sublime talent and will go down as an all time great, we have been blessed to have him as ours Hall of fame awaits you Matrix

Agree with DeGoey being more damaging, only did those comparisons because of the close metres gained
compared to the amount of disposals

He's a freak, almost makes it look too easy. last quarter was a master class.

Glad it was the W coz I don’t think you’d wanna end up with either of the other two letters 😳🤣

This is why you can only just laugh at their hysteric fans, these aren't the same at all

Correct, Cameron was stationary, and was contacted by a player sliding in backwards. Jordy was going in head first for the ball and went lower than his opponent doing the same.

I like how they still sook about 2019 ANZAC Day any chance they get, while completely ignoring the bad calls against us that directly resulted in goals to them. Its genuinely interesting to me that they've repeated the narrative amongst themselves that much that its become gospel now.

Couldn't agree more AP, he is the guy you want with the ball in hand. Brilliant kicking display yesterday, almost Buckley like; low, long and quick through the air

I have an award for kane cornes right now think he deserves one too

He has not been seen around for a while....

Watched parts of the game a second time. Not enough love for IQ.

He's better than last year and has yet to play a bad game.

Gun.

He’s had some absolutely sensational quarters of footy this year. Can’t wait till we get a full 4 quarter performance from him. Will be well worth the price of entry to see.

Umpiring is what it is. Every now and then you get a pineapple but they get more right than wrong. Even yesterday, the free kick against Moore to Wright for too high was a joke. Should have been to Moore for a block. Cost us a goal and momentum.
