Not sure about the Francis selection. Wouldn't surprise me if he starts sub. Not a gambling man, but those Port odds looked juicy. Not confidnet at all.

I think he is slow on transition and loosing his opponents in stoppages

I thing is slow players need to have a weapon , kicking or just fining the pill etc which I can’t see with him yet
Yes, he can't kick, makes terrible decisions and his handball goes to the feet. He needs Nick Davis to teach him to kick

I don't mind giving Francis a go. It rewards reserves form and continues the trend of giving opportunities to the full list.

Also if they need to rest Rampe later in the season. I think it will be guys like Fox/Francis that would be best suited as the 3rd tall defender.
I never want to see an undersized key defender again. If Fax plays back he plays on the small to medium forwards.

I will admit, I've never been a fan of Francis.

However, his last games against North in VFL was very good. He was up to his usual VFL self, taking plenty of intercept marks but what was even more impressive was how clean his disposals were. Certainly a surprise as I've seen plenty of sloppy games of his. Hopefully we brings this version of himself on Sunday.
He was pretty much unstoppable in the VFL last year. Nerves seem to get the better of him in the 1st team. Get through the nerves and we have a great intercepting defender.

I reckon Francis will be sub, I know he's tall and I don't like it but I assume they want Gus to play a full VFL game instead of sub again. Francis will come on for a tall unless another player is hurt.
I doubt Gus gets a game until he learns how to kick. He is Under 10 level for disposal. I don't ever want a mid who only disposes at 31%

Well this is it for Jmac. No more excuses. He better start tackling and making them stick, chasing hard and winning his own footy.

He should ask Wicks for advice.

I’m not convinced and will be watching him very closely. Sheldrick a bit stiff here.

Ladhams very unlucky - feel sorry for him whilst the turtle on Valium in Maclean gets another shot . And with respect to Francis, words fail me. If Francis is ever the answer then what on earth is the question ?

I like fast players.
Gus was dropped because of his disposal. You can't have 31% DE and keep your place. Today he stuffed up really badly in the reserves when the game was on the line. He centres the ball to an opponent, who was the only players there, not a Swans player within 20 metres. It was with 2 minutes to go and we had a 2 point lead. They nearly won the match due to that kick. I do not want to see him until he learns how to effing kick and handball properly without give the ball to our opponents. His DE in the Reserves 50%. NOT BLOODY GOOD

Francis really isn't a bad option as an intercepting defender. In my opinion Melican is the only decent body on body man on man defender we have.

McCartin is great at reading the flight of the ball and has good hands but he isn't very good at outbodying or muscling his opponents out of position. Id be playing McCartin forward and Melican, Francis, Hamling back

I can give you several questions which cross a fairly broad audience

Q1. For the average Aussie

What fairly common first name is often abbreviated as Frank?

Q2. For lapsed Catholics, Catholic curious and those who take a bit of an interest in world affairs and current events

When Cardinal Bergoglio of Argentina became the first Jesuit and first non-European pope since Gregory III of Syria died in 741 (around the time Bedford was born), what papal name did he choose?

Q3. For wannabe altar-boys, theology students, devout Catholics, Catholic priests, the Archbishop of Sydney and the Pope

Q. Though his father preferred to call him Francesco, his mother gave him the name Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone when he was born in 1181 in the Italian town of Assisi. As a young adult he gave up all material wealth and privilege to live a life of begging and poverty (no, he didn't take out a mortgage). He gives his name to both a current pope and a Catholic order. He is the patron saint of animals and ecology. He is also found in protestant teachings and orders. By what name has be been known (followed by of Assisi) since his canonisation by Pope Gregory IX on 16 July 1228.

For those devil-worshipping Pies fans struggling to guess the answers to any of these questions, I refer you to the bold clue in the original post and the subtle message to move along pal
Can you please keep religion out of this. I am a lapsed Catholic and hate them.

Would've preferred to see Edwards or Snell get a game than Francis. Logan should be back next week so it would only be one game game.
Thought Edwards played well in the last VFL game.. Snell has had his injury problems this year so might not be fit enough
Snell is not ready and Edwards was only ok in the reserves today.

Yep pretty much all that needs to be said the game will be decided by the same 10-12 players as it is every week.

That being said discussion around selections is less to do with the impact of the game but more who we think should be given a opportunity and who should be dropped.

Like Mclean vs Ladlams is splitting hairs as is who is a better "forward" between Francis or McCartin
You are only as good as your last 13 players into your 23. If you don't have up to 30 players who can play at Senior level and maintain a role and at least break even you are going struggle.

Not sure how we're favourites tomorrow (or how we were last week). Still too many players missing to be a serious threat to most sides. It's 50 / 50 fore so I'll be pleasantly surprised if we win this.

Our KP players are our weakness to begin with so being undermanned in that department puts even more pressure on the mids. They're good but they have to be at their absolute best to cover the holes in the rest of the ground

Boak couldn’t tear up a tissue. He is near on a walking frame. Rozee has been ordinary at best this year. JHF is the one if given a long leash. Our pressure in the PF last year kept him under the pump but he was losing Jordan all night and could have done serious damage.
What about Butters, Wines, Drew? You know them don't you? By the way Rosie is playing Half Back at the moment. He played there last week and was very effectiveness

He mentioned 3 players and I responded to them specifically. So to be honest I really don’t give a stuff about the afore mentioned by your good self.

Assuming Rampe will be playing on a medium/small given the Francis inclusion.. hopefully frees him up and takes some pressure off him, hamling and Melican to lock down, Blakey, Rampe Francis to intercept and attack
