Round 7 fixture:

Seems bizarre to me that Hawthorn would host us at Marvel. They've never hosted us at Marvel before. Could be a mistake.

Not really as the AFL seem to be forcing us to Marvel this year. 2 home games each at MCG and Marvel so far

While Carlton who would normally 6/5 Docklands/MCG split have had all 3 home games at the MCG.

Probably all about money with the MCG paying clubs $180k for hosting games this year

The AFL are a bunch of dumb kents. Our home ground is the G, why do they make us play home games at Marvel against teams who are based at Marvel? But play interstate sides at the G?

If they weren't completely incompetent we'd be playing Gold Coast at Marvel and Essendon at the G.

The AFL owns Marvel.

There are things called sponsorships and agreements. Marvel is the sponsor of Dockland Stadium and MCG doesn't have a sponsor. There would need to be a certain number of events held to justify the sponsorship.

My issue isn't that we're playing games at Marvel (not this year anyway), its that the games we do play there are home games against Marvel tennants.

Imagine getting to play in your home state and still having a whinge
Imagine if Adelaide's home ground was still at Football Park and Port were forced into a home game against Adelaide. Each ground has different characteristics that home teams get the advantage of understanding due to familiarity

It is an annoying and consistent pattern that the AFL seems to do to all the MCG teams except Melbourne.

We're likely going to have to play 'home games' against MCG and Marvel tenant teams if Vic doesnt get their s**t together and we keep our borders closed. Its an irregular season, just deal with it and move on.

MCG-only tenants are the whiners of Melbourne. We always play home games at the MCG against MCG tenants and home games against Marvel tenants at Marvel. All finals are played at the MCG for Marvel tenants and we get on with it. No idea why MCG tenants whine about the venue so much.

Hardly anything to melt about.

I'd rather we played MCG tenants at Marvel if we have to play home games there.

Imagine getting paid a bucket load to play games in Tassie then complain about playing home games at Marvel. Seriously. The 9 Melbourne clubs aren't MCG or Marvel tenants. They're both (unless you're North/Dogs/Saints then you're stuck at Marvel).

Of course it’s another Marvel f****** home game! It shouldn’t even be called a home game. That’s twice now. Where’s the MCG?!!!

AFL house can get f******.

Turns out it's actually an Essendon home game, which sounds about right. Hawthorn have never hosted us at Marvel.
