Lloyd was the only expensive def premium I started with this year. Cheap backlines have always worked for me in the past but not this year. Been chasing my tail since. Started with one too many premiums in the midfield initially as a result, so traded down to Lib very early on as his cash gen and scoring looked great to start the year. I also thought he would produce mediocre scores for the most part. Weakening my strong midfield to strengthen my defence is probably my best bet, I'm unfortunately well behind the 8 ball at this stage so either have to pay top dollar for Whitifeld, or chase some value in Laird
Personally - Laird. He has shown he can still score 50 in a quarter, Milera out, bottomed out price, vs Whits who has done absolutely nothing wrong and has topped everything. I guess Im buying in to the at some point he gets tagged for a 50/60 and you just paid $830 or whatever for that. But Ill be wrong so go Whits.

Just an FYI to those looking at Laird with Milera out. Against GC we played Gibbs in the HB rotations and Milera was playing half-Forward. Galluci likley comes in for Milera with the back 7 being Talhs, Smith, Laird, Hartigan, Gibbs, Keath and Kelly. Laird only scored 93 in a high scoring game.

To me he is still comfortably a top 6 DEF, but you could wait and see how it pans. As a current owner, he frustratingly is consistent around 85-100

Milera -> Hore (biting my lip and getting him back in)

Clark -> Hayes (The bigfooty strawpoll has spoken!)

426k in the kitty to go Duursma to Whitfield next week.

Only issue is these trades will both be locked before the Wednesday game and won’t see the full teams (risk of drew rest/Atkins rest)

Personally I am keeping Burgess, even if he is dropped. Being able to swing him and Rozee around is super handy at the moment.

Am tempted to bring in Laird this week with the news that Milera has hurt himself. Wondering if he can go back to previous scoring without Milera in the side now. Thoughts VSTone / Rise_up_Stiffy ?
tough one, i still think he'll be hindered until Luke Brown returns to take over the lock down first defender role. I expect Gallucci to take Milera's role... but maybe share a bit of time with Laird this week.

Similar issue - need a mid priced fwd

-Silvagni looked good, but not sure on his job security. will see if he gets picked again this week, but setters back next week
-lewis (hawks), Ham (bommers) did okay (just) in their 1st game - again not sure on job security. Lewis looked good in 1st half but faded late - needs to up his game fitness
-basement rookies: allen / corbett if named. cant see allen lasting in the eagles side, so corbett looks safest option

cheap FWD options is a desert this year. any other options ive missed ?

With Smith and Gibbs back there are you guys going through Laird less now? I bought in to Laird last week so too late but would have thought he is still central to the rebounding of the backline. He seems to go huge for a small period of time, go silent, then go huge again, go silent....is this the new normal?

The Gold Coast board (boy it's like a graveyard over there) seems to think Corbett (at full-forward) replaces Burgess, Miles replaces GHS and Powell replaces Holman, so Corbett is pretty much guaranteed a spot. They also seem to think Corbett will kick a bag with Harris Andrews out though, which I'm not too sure about...

I think I'll do Parker > Corbett if he's in, and the backup plan will be Parker > Gibbons (I'd wanna do Duursma > Stack but it'll be locked out).

Look he is a young young Rook so you never know but with Short and Markov and Rance out theres some serious holes to be filled. He has shown he fits the hunt of the Tigers and can work that job rebounding as well as some courageous marking and chasing. Purely based on the need for that sort of man at HB and the talent he has shown he looks pretty settled. Hes one of my more "comfortable" Rooks. Particularly given our brand of footy and what he has shown he can do. He has also shown he can be poretty unpredictable and up and down like a young Rook can. Hore would be the other one thats shown good scoring and $$ gen of you havent got him. Stacks MID DEF helps too down the track.
Cheers man. He’s definitely looking reliable. Clark to him seems like a decent move. Hopefully no rests incoming anytime soon

Have had Hore since round 1 so although it was frustrating to begin with I’ve reaped the rewards from homding
