Great team mate. The obvious spot that needs upgrading is one of those mid rookies. I would double down this week and look at upgrading one of them next week. Potentially Parker down to Corbett if he is named (should be). That’ll net you 140k. Then you could do Clark to Lockhart (would give you a DPP link) or could go Atkins/Duursma to Hayes. Would net you anywhere from 100-190k.

You would then have plenty to play with next week. Could still get Merrett but using a mid rookie instead of Lib - would just take a week longer but would benefit you in the long run.

Out of curiosity, how highly ranked are you? Top couple k?

Reasonably happy with most of my team structure, except going 1 rookie too deep in the mids right now is the obvious weakness. I am warming towards the idea of a double downgrade this week to try and get a Duursma up to Merrett (even though he's projected to go up by 25k). I only traded in Libba last week so feel like I should give him more of a chance.

Bevo does strange things sometimes/a lot of the time. When Libba plays in the guts he scores well. Even though he has played chunks forward the last few weeks, he has still scored fairly well though which is a blessing. If Libba gets more time in the midfield in the coming weeks then you’ll be laughing that you’ve a) kept him and b) upgraded a low rookie instead - eg. Duursma, Atkins .etc.

Fyi - I’ve only got Duursma projected to go up 12k this week if he scores 70 odd against kangas

I’ve been very strongly considering him and if it wasn’t for Merrett being so cheap I would be jumping at Cunningham. From what I’ve seen in the Sydney games he looks to have possibly moved into the backline and taken McVeighs role since his injury and hence the higher scoring.

Seems him and Lloyd just play kick to kick across the back half and rack up the points
Thanks for that. I think the other thing I like about Cunningham is that he can get good tackle numbers which I think will be Daniels issue because if he doesn't get 20 plus kicks in a game he won't get his scoring elsewhere.

I'm now just tossing up between Cunningham and Crisp. They both look to have potential to get high scores but seems Crisps lows would be frustrating.

If Corbett is named this week (hoping so), I'll be doing these. Have mass jealousy over not having Whitfield while he tears it up for everyone else.

I don't want to shit on your party, but i wouldn't pay 838K for him right now. Too much and on top of that the possibility of Hewett. How about Sicily for like 160-170 less? or even Laird for like 120 less? I just think the odds of Whitfield keeping up this pace have to be next to zero. Possible yes, but not probable. Sicily and Laird will end up being themselves in the end

Fair point and understandable.

His next 8 though....
Swans - will cop Hewett
Saints - unlikely to cop a hard tag
Hawks - Howe? Although he didn't really tag against Geelong
Carlton - didn't tag any of the Dogs midfield
Melbourne - don't really have anyone tagging currently
GC - Touk to go with him?
Crows - anyone tagging for Crows currently?
Norf - Jacobs still not playing
Very good fixtures.

Can see some monster scores there. I have contemplated Sic but always the worry he will miss games with his temper and his scores fluctuate so likely I'll be able to pick him up cheaper or similar price down the track. Laird not looking the same this year so could drop more but is tempting with Milera missing the next 4-8

Seems people are reluctant to pay up for Whit...I'm starting to have second feelings for Lloyd now!

3 weeks ago I chose Whit over Lloyd, chased the ceiling and was rewarded with 160 that week.

Thinking of doing the same this week, picking Boak instead of Lloyd. Boak has an easier match-up and I can smell a 140.

Lloyd on the other hand has GWS and he does not have a good run. Could only find 1 ton he has scored against them, in something like 12 or 13 games. That was last year. There were 2 other matchups against GWS last year (one elimination final) where he scored 76 and 87....

Just can't believe I am thinking of passing on Lloyd AGAIN. Someone tell me I'm crazy and talk me out of this. But you guys are are reluctant to pay up for Whit! And I think Whit is better than Lloyd just due to his bigger ceiling.

I dunno. From what I have seen i think Sicily has cooled his head a bit. Fluctuations dont mean much to me for someone like him because he is never going to be a captain. Its all about the overall average, which i think will be there at the end of it all. I totally get seeing the Whitfield numbers and salivating. I just apply sports cards logic to fantasy sports. When something big happens, like a player dying, all of a sudden the value of them shoots up. Then after that dies off and reality sets in, it plummets. I think it sort of applies here. I think reality has to set in for Lachie sooner or later.

I am almost always a cheap buyer. One reason why i relented and traded in Merrett last week. I couldn't resist that price. I think he could end up near 800K eventually. Also because i believe a player is who they are until they prove other wise over a season, have an injury or have a DRAMATIC long-term role change. None of which applied to him. Because I got him instead of like Coniglio/Whitfield etc i was able to take a shot at Dusty this week at FWD. I know he is no guarantee, but at his price I want to find out.

Sorry, end of speech haha. I guess to summarize I am just saying try to insist on getting positive value

As a Crisp owner, it's just not worth it. He tonned up last week which means I have to keep him but don't really want to, I just know he will spud up this week. Crisp is capable of 40s FFS, you just can't be paying up for that. If he tons up again this week, maybe consider it then.

I would give the same advice I gave JDWCE, pass on Lloyd (who i have had all year) and Whit for now and consider Laird or Sicily and much better prices. They are on my wish list for sure.

Nah absolutely fair point. Usually I chase value as well. Just feel like not having Whit means I'm falling further and further behind. Although Siciliy really suits my bye structure and has some decent fixtures coming up to. Could be a go-er

1. Constable + Clark -> Dahl (on field) + Hayes
2. Parker + Clark -> Hatley (on field) + Hayes + 170k

What does everyone think?
Number 1 doesn't look good, Constable is the most reliable rookie after Walsh and still has plenty of cash to make. And if Dahl is the best fwd you can reach from that trade then it's not worth it, I think the top 6 fwds are starting to take shape and Dahl isn't one of them. I like the double downgrade to get cash and then go for a sure thing top 6 fwd like Boak/Telly/maybe Billings

Agree with this. Even Taberner, roughly the same price, better average, BE of 47 would be a better shout.
