After the 42 point loss against Geelong, you'd think there will be changes in the Swans line up this week.

IN Kennelly
OUT Brennan

Not too sure about Nick Smith though. His skills weren't too flash against Geelong but played okay... he might make way for White, seeing as he was on the emergency list.

Prediction: If Kennelly plays, I think our chances of winning have increased by at least 20%. (I don't know where I got that number but yeah). Without Kennelly, it could go down the wire but I'd tip the Swans to win by a margin between 20-30 points (Swans bias of course :p)

Not saying that if Kennelly plays we'll win, but I simply think his presence in the club will give us more structure. That is, Mattner can go back to play his normal game (no more kick ins please!!!) and Barry doesn't have to run out from defence as often.

Also like to add, there are doubts over Pratt after he was reported for charging.

smith will play, and it would be cruel to cut him after one game (against geelong in geelong)
roos said tonight smith is most likely to play again
he also said everitt was a chance for selection, apparently went better than expected in seconds
i'm desperate to see white get a start but i'm happy to see smith get another chance or two, we have to give the kids a fair go
so if kennelly comes in for brennan the other change would be spida in, but who comes out?
maybe bevan...i hope it aint bird
or davis?
whatever, i think we'll win, i feel very confident, we owe north a beating

Laidlaw only played one game last year - against the Cats at Catland so Smith could go the same way???

Personally I would like to see Spida straight in even if he can only play half the game.

Agree with other posters too, Kenelly is vital to our game and we really need him back.

Apparantly Roosy wasn't very impressed with Nick Davis against Geelong and has indicated he will be dropped again.
You can say that again.

One possible change could be Nick Davis, with Roos hinting he is not convinced Davis is ready to play in the seniors again despite his return after Barry Hall was suspended last week.

"[Davis returned] probably when he didn't really deserve a game, to be honest, and probably with Nick we've got to make sure that he is capable of filling those requirements that we want him to do [pressure skills and tackling] and there's probably still a bit of a question mark over him as to whether he is able to do that."

Also doubtful Spider will play this week according to Roos.

I don't think Davis did enough to justify a spot, but with Hall out it would be a brave call to leave him out. I think he'll get another game.

Spider would be a big in. Having him and Jolly rotating through the forward line would really add to our team atm. O'Loughlin can't provide a big target, and O'Keefe is much more valuable further down the ground.

Always a tough game against the Roos. They've always given us touble, this week should be no different. Big game for the club, 4-2 looks so much sweeter than 3-3.

if spida misses and davo gets dropped again, surely jesse white has to come in as a forward
i still think davis will play, and doubt that spida will be picked

I was reading that article on the train this morning and I laughed out loud, causing other commuters to stare at me. Harsh comments Roosy.

Poor Nick Davis.

As per, the footy world is not giving the Roos the credit they deserve. We are going to be up against it this weekend.

Lets hope Goodsey finds a little more consistency, The Answer finds some answers and Spida gets some match fitness in his last season of footy.

I'm not saying Davis did not play badly

However Goals were our struggle point against the cats and with Hall missing we have to ask where there coming from. Davis we know is capable of kicking them and the pressure of the cats first game back could have be telling. If Roos were to drop him again now it could indicate that Roos has no time for Davis attitude and we could be seeing the finish.

Just wanting to get your thoughts on both Barlow's progress this year and how you see him going for the remainder of it. Will he keep his spot at AFL level for the whole year? And also LRT. He has never been someone that has impressed me at AFL level. Am I missing something? Not having a go at the guy just wanting to know your thoughts on him and how you see his career going over the next couple of years?

The first half of the 2005 Grand Final.
Can't say I remember him? Taking he played well from your reaction? I just think its a shame to see someone that appears like they are struggling and just wondered if there were any thoughts on him and/or if I was wrong in what it looked like to me

I think he just looks very uncoordinated when trying to dispose of the ball which probably gives people a bad image of him as a footballer. He is very good defensively (although he does sometimes seem to get confused as when to go the spoil and when to go for the mark) and his height is something that we desperately require down back. His disposal and decision making are the parts of his game that tend to let him down a bit but having watched him closely over the past few years you can definately see improvement from season to season. He has the potential to be a very good player.

And his '05 GF performance was simply awesome. He was close to a norm smith medal.

If you're trying to judge him based on what he's doing at the moment, you're not going to get any idea of what he's capable of. He's too short to be the ruckman that he's currently being asked to be and is really just filling in a hole until we get Everitt back.

He's a defender and a pretty handy one at that. You'd need to go back to 2006 to see him playing to his potential, a year when he took on - and probably just beat - the likes of Brown and Richo.

Maybe your right. Drew Petrie took a while to find his feet at AFL level displaying a lot of the characteristics that you mentioned about LRT and really only found his feet to become a consistent confident looking footballer last year and he is a year older than LRT.
Hopefully Sydney has room to start playing him to his strenghts soon

He absolutely spanked Richo in round 16, 2006. Two Brownlow votes.

Yeah, I was being reserved in my assessment because I couldn't remember 100%. I had a feeling he'd had at least one super game against either Richo or Brown but was also conscious that sometimes we judge those very good players' games a little harshly.

I don't think LRT is one of our problems. Give him enough consecutive games and he can really make a massive impression on our overall structure.

I hate watching Sydney play North. When North win, it's usually only by a couple of kicks. Very frustrating. They really are one of those sides we've always struggled against. You never feel like you're out of a game against them, but in recent years they've blown us out of the water with one big qtr and then held us off for the rest.

The key is whether their height forward pays off for them. If it does, we often struggle.

Huge game for both clubs.

Agreed Liz,Lrt has from the start been groomed as a defender, and was just
starting to find his feet when he injured himself. At the moment he is plugging
gaps in the ruck, and sometimes up forward. He is still serving his apprenticeship in our team.Playing different roles will make him a better defender in the long run and i can see him eventually taking over from Leapin
when he retires,he is a good chance.

He hasn't been allowed to settle into one position this season, due to being required as a back-up ruckman while Spida is injured. LRT belongs on the HB line and is pretty good when he's allowed to settle there.

His style is awkward but quite effective, and our backline would be worse-off without him.

only changes are an extended interchange bench, kennelly in, brennan on to bench with mathews and jesse white all named on it, but kennelly has to pass fitness test
nick smith, nick davis, craig bird on it as well
no spida
i hope to hell bird isn't gonna lose his place, and i'd like to think they'll keep faith with smith for a bit longer
would love to see white in
would be really REALLY cranky if mathews comes in for ANY of the younger blokes, and i'd be a bit disappointed if davis did get the chop, as to me that would indicate quite a serious longer-term problem for him
