i see the words "brisbane were the better team" mentioned here quite a few times. i disagree completely. we are. we won. granted they played much better that i expected. kudos to them.

We played well for 15-20 mins in the 1st quarter, Brisbane took it up to us for the rest of the match. Kudos where kudos is due.

And as you can see by the vociferous denunciations, we had plenty of players who were down. Teams get up for us, it's a compliment.

Neither coach felt Rampe and Merritt worthy of points. Dane has been outstanding all year and if Merritt hadn't been on buddy he would've kicked 10. Tough life being a defender!
Easier for defenders when its wet. Why doesn't anyone realise it was wet and evens teams up

1. Brisbane play the Gabba well with their scrappy brand of footy. we played them in the wet there last year and the game was even more unattractive. They play a lot like Eagles, scrum then spread. Our game these days depends on lots of spread and quick movement. Once a team stifles our ability to get the ball out quickly we have problems. They matched us for inside, almost, which is where we start our attacks. By getting the ball from the packs quickly we are able to set up the likes of lance, Papley, Heeney etc.

2. Our forwards ands outside runners still play too much of a one way game at times and it is costly. Harry and Robbo especially were pulling in the big breaths at times on Sunday and our resting smalls were stuffed by the time they rested. We are not using the interchange that well I don't think. We were way below the quota half way through the last.

3. No matter what the stupid media, who only remember 2005-09 and nothing after, we are not a wet weather specialist. In fact we have been troubled by some pretty ordinary teams in the wet and some good ones have toweled us up. We are playing better this year in the wet than we have since about 2008-09, the last time we enjoyed the swill. We had a lot of scrappers in that era and our side is much different now.

4. We came off two hard weeks against very good sides. Our blokes would have been sore. The Crows game was a ripper and when the Eagles knew they were gone they certainly hit the body hard to punish us for beating them. That is the way they have always been in the West. The other thing is coming off two hard games and playing at the Gabba in the mud heap of a cricket pitch would have been pretty hard for our mids.

5. We will rest and regroup this week and come out firing. Look out Essendon the boys will want to put in a huge one.

I agree. I think it might pay to put Marsh in Mills' spot and move Mills to the wing in place of Robbo.

I'd love to see what Mills can do pushing forward with a bit of space. His composure and attack on the footy are out of this world for a 6-gamer.

Going to be an absolute weapon.

It is so irritating that people constantly criticise umpires because they make mistakes. Are they not aware of the fact that "they are HUMAN". They are not robots!! Humans DO make mistakes.
How often throughout a game does a player kick to the wrong option or not give a handpass when he should? These are mistakes which cost goals.
How often does a defender drag a ball under him when he knows he will get nabbed for holding the ball yet he does it anyway? This costs goals.
Why are these mistakes any different to an umpire making a mistake?
