Why doesn't the author of this thread talk about 'Round 8 in Subiaco'?
Hehehehehe
Because it'll be so one sided that people will be calling for the Eagles to be kicked out of the league.

See what I mean about red herrings?

The assertation you made was that you were the last side in the VFL, therefore did not have the opportunities to win Flags. Yet Hawthorn entered the same time as yourselves, and have more Flags. I then asked for your explination as to that fact, and recieved the above.

There have been many factors to St Kildas lack of success, but "under achievment" rarely figures. The sides we have had during our low periods just simply haven't had the skill level to match the rest of the competition. The desire and determination has always been at the club, but money issues, star players with issues, club in-fighting and commitee woes have repeatedly cut the club off at the knees just when success seemed inevitable. In the past, there was a propensity to push the ol' self-destruct button.
But those days are over, and you do the club a great disservice by pretending they aren't. The finances are sound, the vast majority of players toe the line , and the comitee is among the most solid and together in football.

Deal with it.

I agree with your whole post apart from the start and finish.

The first has me totally confused because for some reason we've gone to evaluating North's record when I never brought them up orginally. I can't explain why Hawthorn have 9 flags and we have 4 except to say that they've been better than us. So what? But whilst their record is better ours, ours is better than yours. So what? My contribution to this post had nothing to do with comparing North's record to Hawthorn, St.Kilda or anyone for that matter.

The last paragraph is also true, but you missed my original point altogether. Whilst it's true now, things change quickly in footy and don't simply assume it won't. Hawthorn and Richmond in 2001 were as solid as St.Kilda are now. Three years on they haven't played finals since and are a mess on and off the field. I didn't say it WILL happen at St.Kilda. Just don't assume it WON'T. The Saints finished third last year but there's lots of work to do before they're first. And if that's what happens I'll "deal with it" easily unless they beat the Roos in the Grand Final.

I'm nolt going to argue with you anymore.

Just be forewarned that you should watch how you post on the teams boards. I wouldn't go into the Kangaroos board and question your durability as a side, in return I don't expect to have to deal with it here.

OK?

Why not? I love talking about footy and this is a great public forum. Question away on the Roos board. There's questions to be asked. I'm sure not everyone there would agree but I reckon it'd be really boring if all that was posted there was "Gee how good are we" and "aren't we great"

Cheers

But the nature of the teams boards are for the fans of those teams to discuss thier club away from trolling and nitpicking. I thought everyone knew that and respected that, obviously not.

Look, I'm more than ready to answer any criticism of my club (try and stop me!), but would prefer it kept to the main board.

Just personal prefrence.

All the best to you and good luck to the Saints. Sometimes it's nice just to agree to disagree. :)

Go Roos!

Fair enough. Luck is wished upon yourself and the Roos as well - hope to see you in the 2005 Finals. :)
