I actually reckon this Barrass stuff is overblown, I mean honestly how soft have we become that we get all pissy about something so inconsequential.
I agree. Mitchell was no doubt taking the piss but who cares. I don’t give a f@ck about it. Their celebrations are somewhat juvenile too but again, would rather focus on us.

Yeah agree, let the campaigners be campaigners and just focus on getting ourselves better.
Besides it's nothing like playing Mitch Brown in the f**king forward pocket in an elimination final....

I agree. I was getting annoyed last week with the media's constant attempts to frame it as a showdown and a grudge match between the two clubs over Barrass. As a WCE supporter the Barrass angle was the least interesting angle or reason to watch the game imaginable. I don't care about Barrass, i am watching the game to see my team compete and hopefully show signs of improvement.

And the way they keep framing it that Hawthorn stole Barrass from us when it is obvious to anybody who watched the saga unfold that the club wanted to trade Barrass out and made very little effort to keep him. The new management have a different approach to the old management. They want as many draft picks as they can get and they are prepared to take some pain in the present in order to get the rebuild going faster.

:(

It saddens me to see so many Hawks and Eagles fans getting so nasty and petty with each other lately. The two clubs have - I thought - always had a pretty good relationship.

Always found the 'west coast legend Sam Mitchell' meme amusing and I am proud that he had a big part in a premiership for a club that gave him a couple more years when Clarko kicked him out. He is a great coach and we have the Eagles and Simmo to thank for helping him get there.

I didnt like seeing play out his wonderful career at another club but I always thought blaming the club he went to was stupid and naive, if anyone was to blame for me, it was Clarkson.

I've heard multiple Eagles players say he played a big part in the success of 2018 so I find it weird that a passionate Eagle fan like yourself would hate him with so much vitriol but to each their own I guess.

I've always liked your club and like the Pies, I respect the way its run to be one of Australia's biggest sporting clubs. You're at rock bottom at the moment but stick it out... At some point it will click and its just so much fun when it does. Last year was one of the best years of watching footy in my life and I've seen 7 flags (that I can remember).
It is unfortunate, it feels like when your team is coached to be arrogant, your supporters adopt that same mentality (its weird how short their memories are)

Waterman still finding form and touch after injury, IF and it's a big IF, WC can clean up the delivery inside 50 he can be a 70/80 goal FF no problem.

Hewett continues to impress, not the same devastating impact as last week but made good decisions and looks to be settling, an injury free run at it is all he needs.

Liam Ryans second efforts and desire to impact the contest needs to be highlighted and pumped up to the team, again a bloke who when fully fit is an genuinely elite AFL level player.

Patches during the third and last quarter where i saw the boys lift their intensity and attack on the ball and man to an acceptable standard, also observed Harley Reid's body language lift as he saw blokes around him giving a sh!t.

Reuben Ginbey, i have so much time for this kid, his effort heart and desire can never be questioned. His tackle on Hardwick had me roaring and snarling. Geez it felt like a big moment. Gut feel is he is another Brad Sheppard, thrown around early doors before he settles and becomes a star, his mind looks clouded trying to think about too much, once he reaches unconscious competence look the f**k out.

Missing easy shots on goal, Hawthorn were ripe for the picking, missing gettable shots of their own and coming off a easter slog against the cats you need to nail your chances.

There is a clear breakdown in the heat of the battle when the players have to switch from offensive to defensive positioning, at AFL level even a few seconds of hesitation kills. Not enough senior players using the voicebox. Baker stands out there, needs some lieutenants asap.

Oscar Allen continues to lower his stocks, the faux push and shove with the hawks bloke in the 1st quarter was cringe beyond words.

Reid's defensive efforts can be languid at best.

Tom Gross would have torn Hawthorn a new one, instead was left to languish in the Waffle. GET.HIM.IN, stick ya load management where the sun doesn't shine.

Duggan, Cole, Owies = Sh!thaus

Banter on the board reached new levels, bit of cage rattling and what not, lovely stuff.

Clubs go through stages and phases. Some good.. S9me bad.

The coach plays a big part in that.

Sam Mitchell is blazing his trail as a coach in his own unique way and he doesnt give a rats arse about anything other than winning. Being a prick along the way isnt an issue for him.

Sam left under quite suspicious circumstances involving some poor decisions he made off field. He isnt a saint by a very long stretch.

I respect a lot of clubs and coaches. Collingwood one. Geelong and Sydney not so much. At the moment I woudnt piss on Hawthorn if it was on fire. Thats how Sam Mitchell has influeneced your club in my eyes. To the point I would cheer on Geelong and Sydney versus the Hawks, in between spewing into a bucket.

Hawks fans on BF .......... getting s bad as Richmond fans during the three peat. But havent achieved anything yet.

Anyhow, thats where Sammy is taking your club. Hopefully karma train makes a stop or two.

You are forgetting how insufferable Hawks fans were before Richmond

Duggan did some ok stuff but my overriding memory was early on bursting through the middle of the ground unimpeded and bombing straight to two Hawks players who were both on the inside of our two players . All he had to do was kick left or right to advantage our players but no !
Straight down the guts!
Are we scared to kick a chaos ball?? Kick grubbers, kick torpedoes, kick to space!
Nah it looks more” football” when I sit a nice punt kick up in the air for Sicily,Battle, Barass,Andrews,Taylor etc to mark or easy spoil.

Agree, for all the years he's played, his football nous has remained stationary. Duggan is synonymous with panic bombs, long bombs to oppo, helicopters and flour sacks. Handball at least to an advantaged player, not to a flat footed player facing you 2 metres away with 3 oppo around him, waiting to pounce...how many times we saw that, not just Duggan. I realise you only have split seconds to decide and react...

Yeah but when these blokes are your skills coaches...

Hawks fans have always been insufferable.

Sam Mitchell is a ruthless little prick with a sharp footy brain. He was likeable from October 2016 until October 2018, Before and since, 100% unlikeable.

My top 3 Sam Mitchell memories:

3: Slappin da Gatorade
2: Adding to the Eagles Brownlow medal tally
1: Getting punched in the balls by Daniel Kerr.

Actually like the Mitchell/Barrass to forward line piss take.

And love the feelings/kickback from supporters on here.

Footy is too sanitised these days. Rivalries are terrific.

Doubt that move will realistically be a motivator for the players next time we beat the hawks.

But fans don't forget, so grand stuff. Love it
Look forward to when we have developed and reyne goals down on Hawthorn at Perth Stadium.
That time will come and be glorious
