I'll take it.

For those lamenting the lack of a bigger percentage boost, Lyon was dropping so many players behind the ball in the fourth to stop it blowing out. I bet ZoBlitz can provide feedback to him on that.

Hard to pick just 5.

Neale and Bailey I think were our best. Neale’s composure and ball use is just incredible, along with his 3 goals I think he gets the 3 Brownlow votes. Bailey was excellent and probably should have kicked a couple more than he did.

My other votes I went with McCluggage. zorko and Hipwood, but Dunkley, Will Ashcroft and Wilmot were great too. Rayner was amazing in the first quarter and helped break the game open.

In regards to the game. That first quarter was the best we’ve played all year albeit our finishing was poor.

Was good to steady in the third when they were coming and the last was frustrating given we don’t have the best percentage as is, but putting the cue in the is on point with this team so wasn’t unexpected.

Thought most played well. Rayner set the win up in the first quarter and then went missing for a while. Eric has had a bloody good last few weeks. Mids were on top all day, which was nice to see finally.

Charlie, as I said last week has just lost that explosive pace now so has to kick shots on the run as opposed to putting the skates on and kicking it from the goal square. The last miss and the one in the first quarter were goals two years ago because you can’t miss kicking it from the goal line. Unfortunately I think we’re just going to have live with that now. Not sure on being re-signed for another few years, but that’s a discussion for another day.

Still getting 3-4 shots a game as well contributing in other areas. Just needs to start kicking more than he misses

Clug, Neale, Hippy, Bailey and Wilmot get my votes.

Why they didn't tag Neale is just beyond me
I was watching it with a Saints supporter and he started on the why aren't we tagging Neale in the first quarter and after half time just began tearing his hair out.

I don't think Ross is one of his favourite people.

He is. And his effort is there but yeah he just doesn’t get seperation anymore to get any cheap goals. As I said, two years ago he kicks at least two goals today from the goal square as opposed to having to kick on the run because he would have been caught otherwise. Time catches up with everyone, it’s just sad when it happens, especially to someone like him who relied on it so heavily.

As posted in another thread my first Lions game live for a couple of years as my schedules haven’t lined up for a while.

Probably should have won by 12-15 goals as we kicked poorly.

The positives are the talented kids we have picked up thru FS, i sat in the 2nd level behind the Southern Cross end goals with a couple of Saints supporters and it was almost embarrassing that we had three guns through FS and they have zilch.

Very hard to find a bad player, I thought Day played his role very well, he’s never going to be a star but he did a massive amount of grunt work. Charlie looks horribly out of form.

Zorks was excellent in his 300th, Neale as usual should get the 3.

Umpires were very average both ways - 4 is too many!

Very positive game. Showing at our best we definitely don't miss Joe

McLachlan for Kai seems obvious

Payne for Dizzy or Lester

You'd have to consider dropping Charlie for him to find form in the 2s. Must have missed at least his last 10 shots on goal
Charlie last kicked a goal against Richmond. The he’s gone: 0.3, 0.1, 0.4. This doesn’t count the weird things like his floater from outside 50.

He’s getting shots, but totally lost his form in front of goal. I’d love to know what the issue is, but i fear it’s age. He doesn’t have the breakaway speed he had anymore so has to work so much harder.

I hope the coaches find a way to help him rediscover his magic.

I didn't buy into the Charlie has lost his pace rhetoric but after today it certainly looked like it.

His kicking for goal is so shonky you just close your eyes and hope but he did some good things , enough to comfortably hold his place in the side.

He's always been a confidence player , you know it when things aren't going his way but I'm still hoping he'll come good.

Charlie definitely looks off but I dont think it’s just age. He looks restricted. There was an opportunity towards the end where he would normally try to run it into the goal square but he took a shot from distance instead.

it was reported that he had calf tightness earlier in the season. When you’re a bit older the calves and hamstrings can sometimes need a decent amount of rest to get proper recovery. I think give him 2-3 weeks off and he will come back closer to the player we know.

Gold Coast (H), North (A), Melbourne (H). No better time for it!
Wait, are you saying those three games are the equivalent of a training block or it's a good time to rest them against those three?

Q Clash will be hard fought. I saw Melbourne live last week against Freo and they were very good, certainly a better side than what their record says. They’ve got an all time great ruck and some elite onballers and some good kids. No pushovers.

Sam Day was good today. Did a couple of non-glamorous things that led to goals for teammates and will not go unnoticed by Fagan. I think he is coming along nicely. He seems easy to like as a person and I couldn’t be happier for him.
