Wait, are you saying those three games are the equivalent of a training block or it's a good time to rest them against those three?
I’m going for the good time to rest. I wouldn’t dare curse the team by suggesting they’re going out for a training run against another AFL team!

A big thank you to Ross for that win. Sainters look a far better side when they get their skates on through Hill and NWM. Sacrificing a tagger for Rayner after one quarter instead of Neale for three quarters was certainly a brave decision.

A minor quibble but I thought we were a bit selfish going for goal particularly in the second half. Gave up many a goal while blazing away as well as pushing our halfbacks too high and getting burnt the other way.

Time for players to start utilizing Levi more particularly inside fifty. Even as a junior he had the knack of sneaking forward and finding space.

Hard not to be impressed with the development of Wilmot. His defensive skills have improved significantly but he still has the jets and the hardness to move into the midfield in time.

Dizz also provided a strong defensive presence where he just knows what to do and let's hope they've put that playing him forward business to bed.

He definately wasn't Mr MM's favorite either. He was a Grant Thomas man through and through.
I'm not sure whether it's more he just doesn't have the talent on the list or whether he has stuffed their heads up with some of his stupid gameplans.

Wtf he was doing injecting the sub shortly into the 2nd quarter who knows and as you'd expect it backfired leaving them with 3 on the bench before 3/4 time.

Directionless and a bit confusing the saints
Frustrating to watch.

Relying on big fish to come on board to take them from 12th to 10th.
Ross wins just enough and the odd game against a Geelong type side to on top of his wizard like reputation to justify his role.
Stuck in quick sand. Bottom out and draft in some genuine mids to one day consistently trouble some sides because the fringe is capable.

Glad Levi had a good game in front of that sookface.

Never looked too troubled.

We are about at 75% of our true best. But that is ok at this stage. Next week will be a big one. The Suns think this is their time. They start favourites against Sydney at home tomorrow. Hopefully that will be a tough game for them.

Team defence beats the Suns.

I just reckon it was brilliant to see the maroon jumper in Melbourne. For 80% of our time in the big league, we wore the maroon - only changed for colour television.

Our song says "we wear maroon, blue and gold".

Time to move on, and wear the maroon everywhere - it is a farce to wear the red in Sa & WA etc.

He had great success at Warrnambool Football Club as a coach. Coached Warrnambool to Hampden League Premierships in 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989.

He was wasted on St.Kilda and treated badly by them in the end.

As a dyed in the wool Fitzroy supporter. I fully agree with this. My first football guernsey was maroon and blue. I have the same attitude to the red as I did to the paddle pop.

I don’t mind the current “Home” and “Away” strips. Happy to wear the Fitzroy themed coloured guernsey when we are ‘away’ irrespective of the State, but wouldn’t mind if it was only in Victoria. After all …

It could be worse.

I'm just happy to rack up wins.

Suns and Melbourne are no gimmes. We'll have to play well to win those.

Then the draw gets tougher towards seasons end. 6-1 is an awesome start especially considering we could've easily dropped a couple of those.

I think we could go unchanged into next week. If Payne comes back, it would be at the expense of an unlucky Gardiner.
Payne comes straight back in imo

11 tackles from Hugh. His sharing the load with Dunks this year has taken his game to another level and turned him into full mid contributor.
Only a small sample size, but he's averaging 6.6 tackles a game so far, almost 2 more per game than his season best of 4.8 Clearly been something he's targeted this season, and it's paying off. 11 this game and 12 against the Tigers, the last time he cracked double figures was June 2022.

It's not just that. Go to any away game in Melbourne and a large majority of the crowd are wearing the maroon, blue and gold. Even old Fitzroy supporters prefer it over the royal colours. I was shocked when i was watching the gf last year and i saw just how much more popular the maroon jersey was.
