I'm starting to believe the theory that Hipwood is actually a right footer. Swear he's kicked more off his right than left this year
It's he weight of expectation isn't it. There's not the same pressure on his right because he has an excuse. He looks a whole lot more relaxed when he has to use his right, even when he gets it up the ground.

It's great because when he started out he had no right foot at all.

Harder to finesse in the non-preferred I reckon. Kicking action might be very basic and that's all he needs possibly. No overthinking, ball to boot and kick through long.

I was watching a reno show with my wife a couple of nights ago and the homeowner had a framed paddlepop lion guernsey on his wall; I just about threw up in disgust
There are kids who started following the club when we wore that jumper. There are fans whose earliest experience of the club was in that jumper.

It wasn't a good jumper, we should never have changed from the premiership lion, but remember, all of our history is somebody's history.

I think Charlie is playing his role up n down the ground well. The only knock on him is his goal kicking. I have faith that will come good. Comparing his game now to 2yrs ago is unfair. 2yrs ago Linc was in the team and playing the role Charlie is now. And his pace now will still burn a lot of players.

Hippy so much better when has space. Even when they double team him or is in a pack, he is still getting the ball to ground. Very rarely out marked.

Day much better, much better in the ruck albeit against some ordinary competition.

The midfield stood up today. All very good. Their pressure and hunt for the ball was so much improved. Hope that continues. If it doesn't next week the Suns will get hold of us.

The backs were very good. Great to see Gardiner banging into people again. He's still got it. Fletcher quick becoming one of my fav players. Still reckon he's better on the wing but was good back today.

Bailey having a cracker of a season so far. Capable of so much brilliance.

No poor performers today. Some ordinary kicking at goal the only negative.

We led for the entire 132 minutes of the game being only the second time this year.
The other being the Tigers game, leading from start to finish.

Fagan mentioned it was the first time this year we won every quarter.
Did not check just assumed that would be correct.

Lions had an all-round good performance against a team that's had a reasonable hard draw.
Wins v Cats, Tigers, Power then losses to Giants, Dogs & Lions

The Saints tried hard but just don't have that all round team depth that the Lions have.
Arguably the Lions worse six being Morris (2 goals), Lohmann, Cameron, Ah Chee (1 goal), Gardiner, and Andrews
The Saints, Keeler, Garcia, Collard, Stocker, Wood & Sharman

Goal of the year went begging when he missed from one metre.

So sad:cry:

We should have kicked about 23 today.

45 points flattered the Saints

Clug, Neale, Hippy, Bailey and Wilmot get my votes.

Why they didn't tag Neale is just beyond me
It was reminiscent of Essendon just letting Nick Daicos run wherever he wanted in the first quarter to half yesterday too. Baffling tactics there...

Great being at the game today, really good solid 4 qtr effort for the first time this year. Now some will smash me for this but C Cameron was our weakest link again today he's simply a shadow of his former self. 41% DE and 1 tackle today was very poor, yes he got up the ground a bit but really had no impact.
Keep chalking up those wins Boys,
Go the Mighty Lions.

It's not just that. Go to any away game in Melbourne and a large majority of the crowd are wearing the maroon, blue and gold. Even old Fitzroy supporters prefer it over the royal colours. I was shocked when i was watching the gf last year and i saw just how much more popular the maroon jersey was.
I wear a hand knitted maroon jumper but I prefer the red. It certainly isn't a 'farce'.

That obviously went straight into the skip as they cleared things out before the structural work got started.

Not this old Fitzroy supporter.

The red, blue and gold jumper with the FFC logo or the Fitzroy lion is a thing of beauty.

It's a long season and whole squads win premierships as we saw last year with Forte coming in and filling his role.

Great to see Dizzy fill in for Payne, didn't miss a beat and Joyce was brilliant in the reserves - Great backup when needed. plus Kiddy, Doodee and possibly Starc on the way - great.

Our midfield roared back into life, also great and I still think they can go better. Rayner flashed in and could have stayed a bit longer. I thought Will was a little quieter again so room to improve there a whisker as well. All looking good, Jimmy Tunstall looks a good gap filler and Dev had a good game in the Ressie's. Sam Marshall was a bit quite but still looks a player.

Will McLachlan is banging the door down and with Charlie a bit off, and Kai a bit beat up there is pressure there which is a good thing. Fagan has always show loyalty to his players and from his press conference it seems he believes Charlie will fire. I thought Day was better again, fitting in now and getting confidence and maybe Hippy has accepted a 'senior' responsibility and was great again.

It's a good season start, we are not in top gear, just purring along. The coaching staff have to keep those 'door bangers' motivated and the kids developing so I do expect some players being 'rested/managed'.

Some history is just bad

Should have won by about 85 instead of 45 but for bad kicking and a few St Kilda junk time goals. Take the win obviously though.
Yes agree. Was at the game on level 3 so had a great view of tthe game. Wasn’t the best peformsnce - some oretty sloppy play at times. Still have a lot to improve on but will take the win. Gardiner slipped back into his role well and Eric is contesting a lot more. Great to see so many Lions fans. At the end of the game as Fages, was walking along the boundary was signing autographs and having some selfies. Got to love Fages!

Loved the way Dizzy just slotted straight into the backline with no fuss. Like he had been playing every week.
Yes said to my daughter while watching, “Darcy just knows how to kill a contest”. Played within his ability and kept his head under pressure. Always has been underrated.
