Great depth at the Lions now Payne ill apparently hope it's just a fluLoved the way Dizzy just slotted straight into the backline with no fuss. Like he had been playing every week.
The media would be spewing about our start to the season. All of that easy copy about ‘Premiership Hangovers’ remains unwritten. The only recourse they have is to go to their ‘default setting’, which is to ignore us. If only we were losing and outside the top eight, the ChatGPT articles from the football pundits would be flowing and blokes like Kingie could argue that he was right all along.I'm just happy to rack up wins.
Suns and Melbourne are no gimmes. We'll have to play well to win those.
Then the draw gets tougher towards seasons end. 6-1 is an awesome start especially considering we could've easily dropped a couple of those.
I like it as well (Although i prefer the home one), but what gets me is that Fitzroy's history was largely being a maroon team, yet we adopted their colours from the 70s onwards. I wish the club would rotate the colours each season, because their earlier maroon and dark blue looks so good, and it's a shame we don't acknowledge it as muchNot this old Fitzroy supporter.
The red, blue and gold jumper with the FFC logo or the Fitzroy lion is a thing of beauty.

That's the best jumper ever. Some of the jumpers the players are forced to get around in particularly in away games are eyesores.Being an old Roy's boy, I love the Fitzroy jumper, but my favorite is the Kevin Murray old dark maroon and Blue with the white FFC one I would love to see that once in a while
I also love our Bears jumper it's a shame we no longer have heritage round also agree Hipwood is having a nice few weeks let's hope it continuesThat's the best jumper ever. Some of the jumpers the players are forced to get around in particularly in away games are eyesores.
I never thought I'd say this but in terms of our current structure and the capacity of potential replacements the player we could least afford to lose this year is Hipwood.
Maroon for me, all the way!Looks like i am in the minority on the red Fitzroy away jumper.
I quite like it.
Apart from liking the kit i also find it is easier to pick up Lions players in the Red as opposed to Maroon.
Maroon does clash a bit with a few other jumpers.
The Red only clashes with the Suns.
Eyes are not what they used to be, so the Red helps a lot.
Agree, if you polled 100 lions supporters, 99 or 100* would prefer our current jumper over the paddlepop lion. Some history is just bad
Is that the colour seen while burning the membership card?I like the "red"
But I thought that "red" was really called "burnt orange"?
Surprised Willmot has 60 less votes than Neale. He killed their momentum so many times intercepting loose balls.
Does anyone have the expected score for this game handy? I'm curious if it thinks we should've won by even more.
Thoroughly enjoyable game. Comfortable all day, which is an odd feeling given some of our recent games. Thought Wilmot and Neale were our best. Hipwood had a huge presence and Day tried hard - that setup is improving week by week. As others have flagged having Gardiner as a plug and play backup is such a luxury.
And yet at one point, after having burned so many chances early in the 3rd quarter the Saints went bang, bang and suddenly it was about 20 points and we had no answers as they took us on straight down the middle. They then turned it over from a shocking skill error and that was it. The game should have been over at quarter time. My overall view is that every year the competition becomes more even across the board so to be 6/1 is excellent.Goal of the year went begging when he missed from one metre.
So sad
We should have kicked about 23 today.
45 points flattered the Saints
I think you’re reading too much into it - people wear whatever guernsey they have. I’ve got 6 guernsey’s, 4 red, 2 maroon, i dress my family in all of them when we go to the football. It's not just that. Go to any away game in Melbourne and a large majority of the crowd are wearing the maroon, blue and gold. Even old Fitzroy supporters prefer it over the royal colours. I was shocked when i was watching the gf last year and i saw just how much more popular the maroon jersey was.
What about the gold with the Maroon LionI think you’re reading too much into it - people wear whatever guernsey they have. I’ve got 6 guernsey’s, 4 red, 2 maroon, i dress my family in all of them when we go to the football.
Personally i couldn’t care what guernsey they wear as long as it’s got the lion on the front and is predominantly maroon/red/blue/gold/yellow.
The predominantly white guernsey is an abomination and i would love to never see it again. It’s completely unnecessary.
Fages breaking the “never won with a final score of 118 points 3 times in a row” hoodoo. Is there nothing the man cannot achieve!Bizarrely in our last 3 wins our final score has been 118 points.
