Looks like i am in the minority on the red Fitzroy away jumper.
I quite like it.
Apart from liking the kit i also find it is easier to pick up Lions players in the Red as opposed to Maroon.
Maroon does clash a bit with a few other jumpers.
The Red only clashes with the Suns.
Eyes are not what they used to be, so the Red helps a lot.
Nah, I'm with you. I love the red.

I do also like that heritage round version with the maroon and blue with white FFC monogram from the mid 2000's I think. I reckon we played against Collingwood with it.

I'm not sure if the AFL allow it or not, but we should rock these jumpers a bit more. You shouldn't need a heritage round to justify it. How cool would it be if we played against Hawthorn at the MCG in round 11 with that white monogram version.

I think you’re reading too much into it - people wear whatever guernsey they have. I’ve got 6 guernsey’s, 4 red, 2 maroon, i dress my family in all of them when we go to the football.

Personally i couldn’t care what guernsey they wear as long as it’s got the lion on the front and is predominantly maroon/red/blue/gold/yellow.
The predominantly white guernsey is an abomination and i would love to never see it again. It’s completely unnecessary.

Remember the dreaded urine stained job?

That was next level bad

Would be cool to have a Fitzroy gold logo jumper to round out the set given we have a Brisbane Bears jumper and home jumper with the gold logo this year.

Day's holding his spot for the foreseeable future improving each week albeit off a low base.

It seems his job is to get in the way and provide physical presence at contests something that he's suited to and he's picking up a few possessions as well.

I was wondering if it was an AFL directive in terms of how many different designs you could run with in any given year. I'd have thought the cost vs return would be a no brainer. We've got a pretty unique history to tap into and so many fans would buy every heritage design that gets released, especially while we're contending.

I think Hippy is loving him in the team. His first 2 goals Day knocked the ball in a marking contest straight into his lap and the second he kept out his opponent allowing Hipwood to mark the ball uncontested

Not this old Fitzroy supporter.

The red, blue and gold jumper with the FFC logo or the Fitzroy lion is a thing of beauty.
I agree with him.☝️

I have been watching Day very closely since preseason sims and training and his best game was against the Pies in my opinion.
Harder to play well in a side that was thumped by 52 points than the other 5 games we won.

He has settled into the teams gameplan fairly well.
Also, if selected this week for his 7th game it will be the most AFL games he has played in a season since 2020.
A very small milestone, but i think a big one for him confidence wise.
Also plays against his old side on Sunday.

I'll always love both the dark maroon and the bright red Fitzroy colours, and so happy to support a club that can lean on both sets of history and embrace the bears colours as well.

I don't like us wearing white shorts much though and think we could do much better with clash strips. Too many other red/yellow teams out there. So we should be using all our colours across the year to make the best visual and show off our history.

I'd actually love us to pull out blue shorts here and there as well

I buy the ones on sale at the end of the season. They are the prefect design. And colour.

For my budget.

I haven't been a fan of Day but now it looks like he is there to protect the developing forwards young bodies - he is the bash and crash forward that hits opposition defenders hard and makes them hesitate just a fraction when going into a contest.

If he gets goals, that's great but it isn't what he is going to be judged on by the coaches.

Gotta respect those hard nut types.

Maroon shorts (Home), Red shorts (Away), Gold shorts (Clash) is what we should go with in 2026 and beyond. Royal Blue shorts if the club introduces a predominantly blue jumper to our line up. Yes red and gold shorts weren't worn by either the roys or bears but matching the shorts colours with the primary colour of the jumper would create a more cohesive look across our kit lineup and would avoid clashes more effectively.

We are not playing good footy at the moment but are still banking the points. Sad to see Lohmann get injured again. It was nice to see Gardiner back out there also. He just has a crack. Danger signs for Charlie Cameron with his speed seeming to wane.

I think the bigger issue with Charlie is his goal kicking. He's still getting shots on goal that 2 years ago he was nailing consistently.

Agree. That was kind of his job for the last few seasons along with having to defend 2 opposition keys instead of just his own.

Charlie’s body language & on field communication with team mates is a little alarming as well

That would certainly help him if he was snagging those goals. He is still busting his gut but it just doesn't seem to be happening for him. Now watch him kick 5 against the Suns.

Agree, if you polled 100 lions supporters, 99 or 100* would prefer our current jumper over the paddlepop lion.

Although there were some great games in this jumper, most famously "The Miracle on Grass".

* Number estimated by me after polling my family.
That's a big family!

Yep embrace the traditional colours but dont be completely hamstrung by them. We can improve on our shorts usage to make a better look.

Also very happy for the club to keep paying homage to both origin clubs with heritage versions. Personally think you alternate each year - best way to keep people buying merch is to balance the availability like that
