That no 12 umpire is on the take, the other 2 umps weren’t half as bad but 12 was obviously the AFLs match fixer for the day
I noticed 3 times he called play on in a split second strategically against us. Once against Georgi who was actually lining up for goal & up against the fence line & well out of play. So if you call play on & the bloke with the ball is 5 metres out of bounds isn’t it a throw in? Can’t even cheat properly
Another vs DBJ who gave the ump a look which suggested he knew exactly what’s going on.
It was like ump no 12 got a call after quarter time on the direct ‘AFL to umpires bat phone’ to give poor old north a leg up to avoid another smashing & make a game of it.
Really the AFL should treat us with more respect. We know you are cheats. We know you fix results WWE style. But don’t become too emboldened by your success

By the way who is ump no 12? His name? His occupation, background? We are at least entitled to know which corrupt cheating pos is f)&&)(;g us over so we can find out which master he answers to & name & shame him publicly. It’s little wonder that pollis & those in high places are terrified of a proper anti corruption committee

Frustrating game. Don't focus much on umpiring but wow they influenced the game way too much. Are we undisciplined, unskilled and/or stupid to have so many influential free kicks played against or is it umpure corruption and/or incompetence. Over it, ruining my enjoyment of the game.

Too many passengers. Why do a decent proportion of our players think it's ok to bludge. Sick of seeing players spectate waiting for the easy stat while the usual suspects work their arses off. No wonder these players are gassed at season end.

Burgoyne has plenty of ability but since he scored well deserved coaches votes in consecutive games he's decided he's too good to do any work. He needs to be taught a lesson.

Did Wines do anything constructive with his posessions coz I didn't see it. Costs us a lot.

Defence looked a mess. People criticise Aliir but I feel he is under so much pressure because of the incompetence around him. He can't do everything.

Really unhappy with Sweets last few weeks. Zero aerial presence marking wise. How can a bloke that tall be so pathetic in the air. He should be an outlet target but we're better off kicking it anywhere else.

Did not like Farrells game at all. Too many mistakes given his uncontested role. Still waiting for Mead to show he's more than just ordinary.

Berry & Moraes are being carried atm. That would be ok in a team like Collingwood where most players contribute but not at PA. I luv the young guys being given early opportunities but one needs to go back to the Sanfl.

We look like we have way too many small players who lack marking ability & do not impose themselves enough. Most dont have a vertical leap to help compensate for their lack of height & dont provide enough run & carry to compensate. We lack quick 190cm types like Bergman (189cm) & I see this as a big weakness in our team atm.

On a positive note we've had 2 tough games so not surprised many players checked out but its still not acceptable. SPP set the tone with his attack on the ball & Butters Q1 was sublime. JHF attack on the ball & his freakish skills were on full display. Loved Rozees leadership late in the game when we were in danger of losing it. Starting to see him stepping up to the demands of captainancy.

Still think we can improve but inconsistent effort by a sizeable proportion of our team is killing us.
Agree re Jordan Sweet unfortunately Ivan Soldo is struggling big time (5 possessions on Good Friday) maybe give Visentini some game time.

I wouldn't wish Norf on Tasmania. Tassie will struggle enough as it is for the first few years.
AFL should just disband Norf and hand their licence to Fitzroy.
Nah, Fitzroy have their own representation vis a vis the ' Brisbane ' Lions. Just disband them period once Tassie is in. Expunge them from the history of the VFL/ AFL. They have been a constant embarrassment for 100 years, panhandlers for 50 since Barassi's ' Foreign Legion ' imported high priced players to get them off the bottom for a bit, geographically irrelevant with Footscray representing the West of Melbourne and Essendon the North, and just an all round cancer. Time to go.

Watched the replay and Berry didn't touch it much but looked more composed when he did. The week in the SANFL did him good, I would have given him another one there though.

Trouble is he doesn't seem much as advertised after the draft. Not really a small forward and looks more comfortable in the middle of the ground. Worried that he is an Andrew Moore type, that even at junior level was a peripheral midfielder so played a lot forward and was good enough at that level to kick goals-- but at AFL level has no x-factor to impact in the forward line. Not the type to be spending first rounders on.

Interesting that he got moved into the midfield group after Sinn got subbed off (with Burgoyne shifting back). If you watch the replay on the AFL site the half time has some unedited/commentated footage from the rooms and Carr is serving a bit of a spray to the midfield group, particularly to Berry and Moraes.

Can't quite remember when we were last bottom four? Remind me you're team is expert at it.

Just 3 times in 29 completed seasons (0 spoons) is pretty phenomenal really.

And 2 of them came when the club was running on the smell of where the oily rag once sat because the SANFL are parasitic ghouls with nil vision.

Why can't they just umpire every game the way they did Coll vs Essendon. Minimal freekicks, much better for the sport.
From what I've seen heavily umpired games we don't seem to play as well. It takes away the contested aspect of the game.

Just send them back to the VFL. That's their level and it's where most of their history is anyway.

Don't even need ti kill off a club. If the few fans that are there love North so much they will follow them.

Might even get to sing the song occasionally.

Berry's weighted kick to a leading forward (forget who) late in the game was a highlight & its certainly one of his main assets. But I am also worried that he may not find a role he can excel at. Expected him to provide stronger link work after watching preseason games. He seems way too timid for my liking. We need competitive beasts as we have enuf uncontested types. I know it's very early days but we need to be 100% right on this pick given our lack of early picks in recent times.

Hah, oh the irony. Wonder if he's related to Anthony, who, if you recall, was famously cuckolded by Wayne Carey.
I didnt watch any of our game against norf yet, but the name actually sounds familiar to when I looked in to another umpire rigging a game, I think its the same guy.

I remain 100% convinced that there are umpires on the take from betting groups that push them to get a certain result, either line, win or live. We think things are rigged against us but it happens so often, and the overall standard is so poor/inconsistent it all gets lost in the wash. Would love someone with more time than me to actually investigate these anomalies and do it from a neutral stance - ie not the afl is rigged against my club, which will be ignored... but more ok where was the big money going and where did the umpiring look off to an extreme degree.

His kick was lace out to Rioli who then managed to drop it, one of many simple ball handling errors we managed to produce.

Hopefully he will make it.. having said that Murphy Reid looks something out of the box

Berry,Moraes and Mead should all be dropped for next week.
Give Lorenz and Watkins a go.
We'd be breaching a few AFL rules to play Watkins, given he isn't on our official list of players.

Uugghhh!
Where do I start?
Was one of the most abominable two and a half hours of torture I have ever had the misfortune to endure, and that I will never get back.

Good 1st quarter - we moved the ball with precision, quickly, and with short passes and handballs that went forward nearly every time, not backwards, sideways, in circles, etc. Good stuff.

Clarko tightened the screws on their defence after that, making it harder to do it, but we made it harder on ourselves, due to the fact that we stopped running to good spots to deliver the ball to. Lazy footy.

We started to lairize. The umps went into ultra-high reaming mode on us. We lost our composure, and nearly lost the unlosable match as a result.

A lot of our players were a mixed bag. Many did not play 3 or 4 quarters of decent footy. We had a lot who played 1 or 2 excellent patches, but they spoiled it by some nightmare efforts (pulling out of contests / kicking into the man on the mark / shank kicks galore / losing complete sense of where the goals were, etc).

Hard to find any positives after the first break, other than we scaped in with the 4 points.

I just want to erase that game from my memory forever and start again next week. A repeat of yesterday will see the Dogs rip us into shreds.

A match where you come away feeling like you lost.

Last night watching the athletics from Xiamen I thought, what are the sub editors at the Sunday Mail sports section going to come up as a headline to describe that effort yesterday?

I thought they couldn't go with Power Failure, as we won. Shocking Power doesn't really work. Can't talk about a Blackout etc. Anyone who has a copy of the headline please either post what it says or a picture of the page.

It bugged me for an hour or so and eventually given I work in the energy industry it struck me - Intermittent Power.

Intermittent Power is electricity generation from sources that aren't constantly available due to their fluctuating nature ie wind and solar sources.

That's what we have been under Hinkley for so long. We are Intermittent. We fluctuate too much, be it within a game and within a season.

How often do you think to yourself before a game, so what Port will turn up today? Tim Ginever and Kane Cornes talk about how they get asked that question by fans and/or ask it themselves and they respond with they don't know. We aren't reliable. A side reflecting their coach.

That was the same yesterday - 10 minutes of absolute overload football in the first quarter won us the game and then we fluctuated between very good and very bad, like the clouds coming and going to shade out a solar panel.

We've got the Intermittent Power to win, the Intermittent Power to lose,........
