Round 7: Changes Vs Adelaide Crows

I dont know why McCarthy would be going anywhere, didnt play that well (aside from that brilliant kick to Tabs in amongst four Dogs) but he was clearly suffering from that illness. Probably been our best all round forward all year. Going no where I wouldnt think

Anyone else annoyed that we get round 7 Crows instead of round 1-3 Crows? They were squibbing pretty hard early days. Look good now.

Fair point. It was definitely a fair observation after his breakout year a few years back. Did seem lost at GWS at times.

He definitely seems like a confidence guy to me though, especially considering the story about how he was bullied as a youth. Reckon getting dropped after holding the ruck could effect him quite negatively.
I don't think he should be dropped. He should play ruck.

I just meant in general. However, there will come a time when someone needs to be dropped for Sandi or Darcy.

Agree on both parts. However, I think Lobb as ruck isn't helping this situation much. Would prefer him up forward and Darcy back in. Which means one of Hogan, McCarthy or Tabs would need to make way for Darcy and perhaps Tucker for Blakely.
Brayshaw would be out before Tucker .

they weren't but the midfield is a real concern Atm, need Cerra on ball but Ross wont do it so we need more midfielders in the team imo.
I disagree with the calls for Cerra to get a run in the midfield. His disposal has been average of late and his lack of pace was evident tonight. Could look to play midfield at Peel to get some confidence up

Don't understand those calling for no changes, we desperately need Blakely in. Would like to keep Brayshaw and Cerra in so Conca is the one that has to make way.

Hard to drop players from a winning team. Blakely deserves to come int othe side - Tucker had another decent game, but Blakely is probably an upgrade at this point in time. Coyler does a lot of good things that help the team - and he is quite tough at it - similar to Conca - I get the feeling they set the tone for attack on the footy and it follows through to the rest of the group.

Certainly a good problem to have.

I suspect they may rest a few players at one point. In the last 10 minutes we where starting to look like the walking dead. Some sore bodies out there, and I assume with the emotion of the occasion it could present an opportunity to freshen a few up such as Brayshaw or Cerra.

No Changes
That's my prediction as well. If anyone goes out for Blakely then I cant see how it wont be Cerra. He got exposed for pace playing as a defender running back to goal multiple times tonight and his kicking hasnt been great when playing in defence all year. Conca could easily go back to defence so that Blakley can play midfield as well. Im sure ill cop abuse for suggesting Cerra, but he isnt a defender and if thats the position he's playing exclusively he needs to be better at staying with his man. Anyone watching the replay can point out that Im wrong if proven untrue but my belief, but watching the game is that Im confident at least five of the Bulldogs goals were a result of a WB player getting seperation on Adam running back to goal.

Blakely was held to 2 disposals in almost a half of WAFL football today. He did recover in the 2nd half to end up with 20 but I haven't heard from anyone at the game saying he had a major impact on the game yet. A fully fit Blakely should be racking up 30+ @ WAFL level and being rated BOG, even with a tag. I want him back in as well but not if he is still a way off fitness wise. Why rush him back in if we don't need to? Similarly, is Sean Darcy finding some form yet? Until he does I wouldn't bring him back in either.

Don't disrespect how good the Dog's midfield was today. None of our three best mids (Fyfe, Mundy, Walters) had 4 quarter performances today (each of them had at least one ordinary quarter). Tucker, Brayshaw, Colyer, Conca all did some important things. That mob wrestled back the clearance battle which won us the game in the end. Think we were managing Walters a bit as well.

Thought our tall forwards were our weakest link today - McCarthy, Hoges and Tabs were all below par given they should have had a clear advantage over their defenders.

The only thing I'd probably consider is bringing Duman back in (without dropping Nyhuis) and shifting Cerra to half forward/mid. Not sure who for though?

We need Blakely back. If one WAFL game is enough then it would be out of Cerra, Brayshaw and Conca. But it will be a tough decision. Colyer is another, but he provides a lot of zip, and things like that chase will earn him a game.

Out: Brayshaw
In: Blakely

I’m a huge fan of Andy, but he could use a freshen up. I’d put him out over Cerra just based on Cerra’s disposal and ability to switch between mid and back.

Yeah Geelong have been doing it with their rookies, and even mature age recruits - they have a similar problem - too many players pushing for selection. I find it crazy we are having this discussion.

Cerra has played on the worst forward or rookie most weeks and hes getting towelled up a bit to often. I didnt realise how slow he was either. Needs time in the 2s. Brayshaw was a non event for a big part of the game. Soon as he started in the middle he got a clearance.

I agree = Tucker or Hughes out for Blakely. Why in hades would you drop Hogan though?!?

Well, it was the the 2nd anniversary of Hoge's dad's death, so he can be excused. He still did some amazing things.
