Given his speed across the ground, it is hard to make a case for dropping De Boer - blocking the ball in F50 and stopping the Bullie's run, but for a full game, not as sub. Tommy Sherro's run from half back would be very handy also - probably as sub at this point. Problem then becomes 'Who to leave out?' Any possibility of Duffield? It's not easy being a selector.

Anyone else worried that Leigh Fisher is umpiring? Free kick count might end up similar to last year (19-4)...

Surely he still hasn't got sand in his vajayjay...

I suppose it's a step up that he is not umpiring a game for us which involves St. Kilda.

Comfortable with the A.Pearce, Johnson & Ibbo combo to take on Stringer, Boyd and Crameri.

Would love to see Sheridan make the final 22 from here. Even if he is the sub.
Interested to see how your defenders line up on us.

Often we play only two forwards deep (Boyd & Stringer) with two higher forwards (Crameri & Koby Stevens/Bontempelli) with two smaller forwards pushing into the midfield rotations but playing and attacking role (e.g. Dahlhaus & Dickson/Honeychurch).

Which defenders match up on our forwards in that scenario?
I assume Pearce-Boyd, Johnson-Stringer & Ibbotson-Crameri to start with.

Didn't he screw us against carlton as well?

I think Pearce and Johnson will rotate off Boyd and Stringer, with Pearce staying on whoever is playing deeper at the time

Ibbo to Crameri assuming Crameri is playing up the ground a bit more

Spurr will go to Dahlhaus

The Bont is an interesting one. Clancee Pearce will probably run with Bont as he can play both in the middle and off the half back when Bont pushes up. If the Bont pushes deep forward one of our defenders will rotate on to him

I think you have the match-ups right.

This will be the first game he doesn't get a hard tag - we don't play one either (so Fyfe is my SC captain this week).

Bonti spent a bit more time forward last week so may be carrying a niggle, so I'd expect one opponent (Pearce) to be able to track him a little more than when he enters our midfield rotations. TBH I'm really worried about the middle - Cordy vs Sandi is worrying enough, but our real "grunt" mids are all coming off injury (Wallis & Jong) and guys who enter our rotations (Hrovat, Dahl, Honey & Hunter) could get monstered by your bigger guys.

Interesting game, as Freo to the outside observer seem to be the most disciplined side in the competition and we will try to take the game on at all costs to avoid kicking through a set-up zone.

As much as I admire the way Western Bulldogs play, I feel that style plays right into Lyon's hands, especially when sides do it off half back. It's why he has such a great record against Geelong (and alternatively a poorer one against Hawthorn, who are willing to hold on to the ball at all costs).

So next week we play Norf off a six day break and they get eight days. Dafuq?
Expect another 2nd half fadeout

Final 22 announced:

I/C: Michael Barlow, Paul Duffield, Nick Suban, Tommy Sheridan
EMG: Jack Hannath, Hayden Crozier, Matt de Boer

In: Tommy Sheridan
Out: Matt de Boer
