Hi all, apologies if there's an all inclusive thread for this. I couldn't find it. Me and a few lads are off to Melbourne for a weekend of footy for Round 7. The games we are attending are:
  • Richmond vs Hawks (MCG)
  • Collingwood vs Carlton (MCG)
  • Crows vs Doggies (Etihad)
I've not watched a game of AFL at the G or Etihad. I'm trying to sort out tickets from now, is it too far out? On ticketek for MCG tickets, there are only AFL and club members options available at the moment. Similar to ticketmaster Etihad games. Not sure on the window of availability for tickets for the regular punter. Also, are any areas in the stadiums that don't provide optimal viewing? (Apart form the obvious nose bleed sections)

Just one more thing, which I'm sure has been answered before, a couple of suggestions for some nice eateries/drinking venues for before and after the games wouldn't go astray either ;) </colombo>

Cheers!

I think there's a spearmint or peppermint rhino near the casino. There's also a good pub on the corner there somewhere and Etihad is only a road or so over and up the hill a touch. That's the area where'd I'd be settling down.

If you don't care about sitting on Level 3, you don't have to buy any tickets until you rock up at the gate the day of the game

Crows games in Melbourne never sell out, and those other two games are at the 'G so they won't sell out either
best advice here

Cheers. This appears to be the best option.

Thanks to the others too, looking forward to the weekend!

There's lot of nice eateries along the shoreline north of Etihad, also on Friday nights they have fireworks, also some nice apartments there
You shouldn't have trouble getting tickets at any of these

London Tavern down from the G is a winner, and a short walk from the Royal on Punt Rd
