This weeks game against Freo will be an interesting one. Last time we played over there we got pantsed. But at that stage we were injury depleted and disinterested due to being out of finals contention. The year before we played outstanding at Subi and got up by 9 goals with our midfield dominating that day. If we play like we did that day I have no doubt we can win. We have been a bogey side for Freo of late and in particular Matthew Pavlich. He rarely kicks a bag against us and has been known to be tied down by players such as Joel Smith and Trent Croad.
Having said that I can't see Freo being 2-5 and should come out firing, but we should but up a fight. Freo by 9 points

North by 17 points - already have the mental edge of the Dons, and look good. Crowd - 47500 (if they could 27000 for a game involving Sydney, then a match with the Dons could easily add 20000 on top of that)

Pies by 15 points - in front of 78000, the game will be tight most of the day, but, the Pies have the class.

Port by 75 points - still only able to attract 32000, but, their class over the park will tell all day.

Brisbane by 4 points - won't be much in this, but the 31500 going will be happy with the outcome.

St. Kilda by 25 points - only going to get 35000 to the Dome, but, should be good enough to hold off the Swans.

West Coast by 3 points - even though the Cats have the home ground advantage and 21500 going along, the Eagles might be the underdogs, but, have the tools to win.

Melbourne by 1 point - With Neitz back and the Doggies coming back from Perth, despite about 34600 going, the Dees will record their first win.

Fremantle by 8 points - in front of 39500, the home advantage will get the Dockers over the line.

Hmmm...
Bulldogs, Melbourne, Telstra Dome, Mothers Day, Sunday Afternoon= Shit Crowd.
Melbourne supporters just REFUSE to go to away games and even more so REFUSE to go to the Dome.

Dont kid yourself Freo are gonna come out firing and there midfield should cut you up at Subiaco.

Gilham (ex port player) on Tarrant? lol Tarrant to kick 6 goals, pav similar.

Freo by 50+

Hawks have been underdogs in all six games this year and we will be for the next five 5 weeks at least ,but we keep winning somehow. No one has kicked 6 against us this year so far, so i dont see how Tarrant of all people is gonna come out and do it.

You do realise campbell brown killed Scott Lucas on the weekend? Lucas is a much better player then tarrant in my opinion, so Browny will get first crack at him. As for Pav, Croady will most likely get him, if not these two matchups, it might well go - Gilham on Tarrant, Brown on Pav.

Essendon tall fowards were never going to rip the hawks apart. Lucas is not a big contested mark type player so the little blokes like O'Brian and Brown can play on him. Johns goes missing a lot of the time and played too deep.
However against freemantle the talls in Pavlich, Tarrant, Sollimon and Murphy (if he plays) are stronger and taller and unless the hawks go the flood which at Subi is difficult they might be in for a bad week.

Johnson is the type of player that could go with Buddy, with McPharlin et al to cover the remianing talls such as Boyle, Roughhead & Dixon.

So who did Brisbane use to stop Freo's great list of talls they must have 3 or 4 experienced AA key backman up there.I just cant think of any at the moment.

I wouldn't have thought so...I've picked them most weeks, expect against the Bulldogs in round 5.
You lot were always going to beat the Cats in Tassie, Hawthorn always beats Geelong anyway.
And North, Essendon and Melbourne, can't say too many would have regarded the Hawks as underdogs in those ones.

The only one I stuffed-up was round one verses Brisbane...I thought you'ld win that too.

Anyway, Fremantle get the 4 points this week-end.

Hawthorn are o.k....but not great.

Kangaroos vs. Essendon TD

The Kangaroos are in hot form. On the other hand, Essendon have been very poor in recent times.
Crowd: 36,000

Collingwood vs. Carlton MCG

Carlton always lift a notch for Collingwood, but not this time - the Pies by alot!
Crowd: 80,000 (they are selling out)

Port Adelaide vs. Richmond AAMI

I could use the old cliche but I won't - Richmond are on the rebound so this poses as a danger game for Port. In saying that, Richmond are far far away before they sort out their in-house problems, and Port could inflict more blows to their wound.
Crowd: 27,000

Brisbane vs Adelaide GABBA

Brisbane with back-to-back home games should run out the game better than the injury-ravaged Adelaide.
Crowd: 32,000

St.Kilda vs. Sydney TD

St.Kilda will be pretty keen to beat a quality outfit.
Crowd: 34,000

Geelong vs. West Coast SS

In a nailbiter, Geelong should win.
Crowd: 23,000

Bulldogs vs. Melbourne TD

Melbourne are due for a win. After coming so close last week, perhaps that might play against them.
Crowd: 25,000

Fremantle vs. Hawthorn S

Hawthorn have been travelling alright, but Fremantle are better than they are playing at the moment and I suspect they should win.
Crowd: 24,000

PS: Sorry Aristotel, have been busy.

Pav can take a contested mark, Lucas cant....Pav would rip C.Brown a new one

Brown on taz may work, have to get him to focus on wrestling his opponent and outbodying him.....which isn't his game, he is best when left free to roam and use his gut busting running and strong hands to kill blokes on the lead, C.Brown may be able to stop him.

Also, who is Connoly going to man up on a forwardline consiting of something like:

Crawford Boyle McGlynn/Young/Bateman
Dixon Roughead Franklin
Talk about over-rating ur forward line

Buddy is a gun
Boyle, still developing average season so far, never showed any signs he will rip a game apart
Roughy, wasn't he playing for Box Hill seconds a few weeks ago?? 5 games in 07 for 5 goals, suggests that he is still finding his feet
Dixon, seriously struggling now

The dockers have

M.Johnson, Parker, Grover, McPharlin, Mundy who can rotate on those blokes

You see, the four talls named there are able to easily swap possitions, and will cause hell for freo.
So can the Dockers defence

Parker could play on Dixon or Buddy
McPharlin could play on Roughy, Boyle or Buddy
Grover could take Dixon, Roughy, Boyle
Mundy could take Buddy or Dixon
M.Johnson could take any of them

also have blokes like webster, hayden, dodd who could play down back

Hawks by 30.

they will only win if they smash freo in the middle and the hawks runners get on top

why are we penciled in as such a pushover??

I think we have won 3 out of our last 4 encounters with freo. When we went over there, in terrible shape expecting to get destroyed, we downed them by 10 goals. Croad vs Pav was the only matchup we lost on the ground. Why will their midfield kill ours when we have been dominating in the midfield every game. Granted we haven't exactly been playing the creme of the crop, but we can only play whats in front of us.

I would personally have us at even money and i will be tipping us for sure.

Dee boys for an upset over the doggies ... they got a very close sniff of a win and they will be extremley hungry to make up for last weeks nailbiter

Rubbish

Round 1 Vs Brisbane: Shocking performance, should have lost by 10 goals. No one would have tipped them and rightly so.

Round 2 Vs Melbourne: Demons were touted as one of the better teams in Victoria at the time. Everyone tipped Melbourne; Hawthorn win, Melbourne then copped big injuries.

Round 3 Vs Kangs: Hawthorn coming off a win against a Melbourne. Kangas should have won against the Pies and were in a winning position against Port but just couldn't get over the line. North favorites.

Round 4 Vs Geelong: Big talk on how good Geelong forwads are, Mooney, TomaHawk, Nathan Ablett. Like last year, Geelong best team in Victoria- play Hawthorn-worst team in Victoria. Hawthorn only beating the Kangas. Geelong favorites.

Round 5 Vs Doggies: No-one would have tipped Hawthorn. Enough said. Doggies favorites

Round 6 Vs Essendon: Bombers have a long break, better list on paper. Essendon favorites.

Kangaroos Vs. Essendon 17
Collingwood vs. Carlton 85

Fremantle vs. Hawthorn

gone for a few upsets this week,

Geelong's confidence is sky high after their win last week and i think being at SS they should get the biscuits.

Adelaide well...... we have played well against the Lions recently and Rutten should be able to hold J.Brown and rest of the guys should put in the effort and i think we will get up by a couple of goals.

Hawthorn, really liking the way they are playing and Freo havent done much this year, they beat a depleted Melbourne and a depleted Adelaide by 1 point at Subi.
Hawks are firing and Buddy will rip Mcpharlin or whoever plays on him apart
