Just because he is named doesn't mean he will play, he (Cox) even said he is unlikely to play this week.

For Friday/Saturday night games if there are any late withdrawals they will be investigated by the AFL and genuine injury concern must be proved. I don't know why i have to explain this every dam Thursday. If you want to be skeptical have a pot shot at the Sunday teams you could write anything on them as the finals teams for those games aren't due until tomorrow night.

It's actually done pretty well. Dogs got a bit of heat for naming Eagleton to play when he wasn't over his ankle injury and pulled out. Gambling is a big part of the game now and the AFL are cracking down.
