Trades are doing my head in a bit this week. I'm pretty much set on Weitering to Smith. That leaves me with $441,200 in the bank. The 2nd trade is what I'm really undecided on.

I'm half thinking of passing on M.Cox at this stage. To bring him in I really need to go Goetz -> Cox for him to be of any value ie Ruck cover. But he'll be coming in to sit at R3 only. If I bring him into the forward line, I don't get ruck cover anyway and I can probably cover his points with any numbert of Forward rookies. Seems a bit of a nothing trade (Unless of course one of Goldy/NN misses.)

Other options I've considered are bringing in a DEF premo (Boyd or Simpson), or a MID premo (probably Ward) for BK or Tippa. My back line is weak with Rance on the bench this week hence the thought of a premo there. Either way it will leave me with an extra rookie playing somewhere and to be honest, I doubt points wise it will make much of a difference. I'm leaning towards bringing in the MID which I think will give the better overall result. ie Ward and Hartley on the field V Simpson/Boyd and Ben Kennedy.

The other reason I'm thinking of bolstering the Mids, is that I reckon finishing the MIDs off early will result in more points overall. Defenders can be bought in any time, usually for around $500K or less. I may even leave the defence till last.

A bit long winded, but any thoughts?

If you have the cash for the MIDS then go for it, my trades this week leave me with $576k, short of the real must haves. But if you can grab Ward I think he is better value in the long run. I think Boyd will drop in price and Simmo will stay around that mark for most of the year.

I already have petrecca and my current mids are pendles Ablett Parker danger Selwood libba. Would like to finish mids first so debating between libba or mills to hanners. Mills still has a lowish breakeven and libba is about 90 odd breakeven. If I go libba to hanners I can get another prem next week which I like.

MIDS are already stacked, maybe look at boosting some other lines. I still think Libba can go big for a little while longer. I'd wait on Mills for a week or so then move to Hanners

Why is my brain telling me to go dea>boyd rather then mr safe simpson?

Just feel like he has more potential to score more and likely to not any cheaper. Where Simpson will be around same price all year.

I plan to get both so see it better to get boyd now.

Can't decide between getting Martin up fwd or Sloane/Steven in the middle, thoughts? Leaning towards Sloane atm and waiting for two of Dahl, Zorko or Lids as my two fwd premium upgrades.
Have you only got two spots in the forwards? I think Martin has better potential of being a top FWD scorer than Sloane/Steven being a top MID, all are great value regardless.

Thoughts on bringing in cox as a forward and having the R/F swap with loesch?

My defence is so cooked this week, I have to make two trades down there just to avoid a donut.

O McDonald + Weitering
Josh smith + Cox in

This leaves my defence with Shaw Adams Tippa M Brown Dea and Byrne Jones.. Laird and Rance on bench!!!

5 rookies on field in defence!!
exactly what im doing.
baring my ass to the wind.
i just dont think we'll have another ruck/f rookie and smiths averaging 84 at 102k
double up next week for me unless keays has a blinder.

I have McCarthy and Kerridge up fwd that will be upgraded, Wells is doing enough to stay atm.

im all over the cox
think hes the perfect bye cover if all goes well.
I also have noticed im having to dump rookies earlier for less this year as they are shite.
not sure id want to be carrying the perma donut vs someone with a donut most weeks through spud rookies being dropped.
The cash generation I feel is needed more this year.
This is true. I'm sort of thinking that with the late byes this year, most teams should be close enough to complete for it not to matter too much. 6 weeks to go before the first bye, should hopefully see another 4-5 upgrades with a bit of luck.

averaging 98 atm, more than fine for a fwd keeper. If it gets you another keeper next week, lock him in. Dalh will probably be the better fwd tho.

Might be too late with this, but:
Weit either one to keep until late in season (good average, reliable, good JS) or to move this week / next in case of need.
If you have Shaw, are going Smith and passing on Cox (I likely will, too, but because I want to bring Shaw in), would go Ward first as there will be several DEF prem dropping in price in the next couple of weeks.
TLDR: Ward sounds good in that context.
