Round 7 Trades

You've held Drummond this long because you thought he had value. So trust your gut and keep him. He's a lot closer to coming back now than he was when you first decided to keep him. Don't let those weeks on the pine have counted for nothing - if you trade him now, you're essentially accepting you've been fielding a squad of 29. You've already missed the opportunity to make $ by trading him straight away, don't compound it with a sideways trade.

Either Thornton trade OK (although I think you've missed the biggest chunk of cash from Ibbo, and he won't be worth fielding each week), but if you can field a replacement, you might be better served waiting another week or so and getting Goddard, P.Burgoyne, etc.

The problem with this is if I keep Drummond in and don't trade I will have 3 non-scorers on the field (thornton, cornes, drummond).
I have Myers who i'll put on the field but what can I do apart from trade Drummond and Thornton???

Browne in for Morton - I feel Mortons close to peaking and I no longer have confidence to start him
Mitchell in for Dyson - Wouldn't usually take Mitchell but he's the best option in my price range.

I don't normally post on here because I doubt my questions will get answered...
My question, after seeing Pfieffer has been dropped, is whether I should downgrade Houli and upgrade Pfeiffer to Goddard (meaning one of J.Edwards, who is listed as emergency :( or SDT will have to cover Cornes). This will enable me to do the Dyson --> Corey/Bartel trade next week. I don't really want to do this as I think Pfeiffer still has a bit of money-making left and when Chad comes back I could downgrade him. But now he has been dropped (in a team that is struggling with injuries) and I'm not sure if he'll get his spot back.

Other option is wait a week, hope that Houli and Dyson make some serious moula (and Goddard drops in price B/E 80 odd I think) and try the first option and get Corey.

I'd make the trade Pfeiffer to Goddard. Sure, Pfeiffer may increase a few dollars in the future, but his future is quite uncertain with so many youngsters at Carlton vying for spots.

Reimers to Daniher is done deal.

Now i have an issue at the moment, like many, Bowden isn't playing so i wil cop a zero this week so i have two options:
1.
This week: Bowden ---> Burgoyne
Next week: Jack ---> Browne and Bird/Geary ---> Swan/Corey/Kornes

2.
This week: Hartlett ---> Ibbotson
Next week: Jack ---> Browne and Bird ---> Swan/Corey/Kornes

Leaning towards the first one, it gives me more options.

I like the first one too, except for P.Burgoyne. Apart form his game of 142 he hasn't scored above 90. That is quite unsettling for a premium defender. Either look elsewhere or wait another week and see if he has a decent game.

Yeah I would definitely go with option 2. Bowden to Goddard and then Dyson to Mitchell.
Agree.

Pulled the trigger with Jowden.. Even when he does come back, his supposed forward role will hurt his scores IMO..

Done these trades -
Out - Ellis, Bowden
In - Purgoyne, Goddard

Backline - Cornes, Shaw, Purgoyne, Birchall, Gilbee, Symes, Goddard (Scotty D and Pfeiffer)

Backline is locked in for the rest of the year, can concentrate on my midfield/forward line from now on
Locked for the year indeed. Very nice.

I had no intention of trading this week, but I'm fed up with Bowden and don't want to play a man down so will be pulling the trigger on him.

Best option I can see is to downgrade him to Goddard, leaving me with over 200k in the salary cap.

My next 3 major upgrades need to be Gibbs, Houli and Nathan Thompson (not necessarily in that order). Can anyone tell me Gibbs' break even score this week? Surely the 140 as shown on fanfooty is incorrect...!!

Who do you think is the most necessary to upgrade out of those 3? I'm leaning towards Gibbs, but really need their respective correct break even scores before I make a final decision.

Will be able to trade Gibbs for Kane and still have 70k left over if I decide to go down that path.

Thoughts?

D Myers in for J Edwards

H Scotland in for R Dyson

Thoughts?

Interesting.

I wouldn't do the first trade just yet. Myers is no certainty to play 3 games in a row, and Edwards is right on the cusp of senior selection. I would hold out on this trade because it isn't really necessary, unless of course it stops you from playing a man down. If it doesn't, no harm in waiting a few weeks before doing it.

Do the 2nd trade. Dyson is finished in terms of rising in price, Scotland is a DT gun and looks to be playing himself into a bit of form.

Suffering from Chads injury and unless i trade in Myers i will be one down. Myers won't be dropped after 1 or 2 games either imo. Knights has said previously that he won't do that to kids and will give them a string of games. He's also very higly rated down at Windy Hill.

And yep agreed with you on Scotland, rekon he's an absolute bargain that cheap.

My backline at the moment is C.Cornes, Shaw, Bowden, Goddard, Birchall, Symes and Bradshaw. Need to trade Bowden this week, don't have cover for him and will screw up my two planned trades for next week. I think Burgoyne is the best choice looking at the options that i have at the moment (did score 95 last week). There are other choices that i would consider, King, Milburn, McLeod maybe even Welsh. How would your rank the players i have the choices from?

Guys, need some help!! Would anyone else do these trades?

Pfeiffer -> PBurgoyne
Ling -> Armitage

Now I need to shore up my defence with Cornes out. And while Ling might be a keeper, I feel like I want to upgrade him to a Cross type, and I have Masten on my bench scoring a fair bit. So I can upgrade Masten to Cross in a few weeks, and I feel that Armitage will be a good bench player for the rest of the season.

But trading Ling (who is pretty much a keeper), could backfire?

Other midfielders are M Murphy, Kornes, Ablett, Stevens and Palmer.

Thornton -> Goddard
Dyson -> Armitage

I've got 120k left over so unless Chapman kills Brisbane
Tredrea->Chapman next week.

Doing the exact same trades except Pfeiffer out instead of Thornton. Hope Armitage becomes the prominent cash-cow I thought he was going to be at the start of the year. :eek:Yes, I am trading in a player I've already traded out earlier in the season. It's a sin, but I've been burnt many times for picking a guy after one game (was thinking of picking up Browne).

MAJOR DILEMMA

Should I trade either Symes (B/E 69) ($326,200) (Av 77) ( More players to compete with for the ball)

or Newman (B/E 109) ($316,500) (Av 74) (With bowden out, should get more of the ball)

for Goddard/S Fisher/ P Burgoyne (I have Chad also)/ Gilbee

So yeh which one out of Symes and Newman and who for ($357,600 when trading Symes), (347,900 with Newman so cant afford P Burgoyne)

I hadn't intended on trading Bowden, but being a man down in defence and him not even being named on the extended bench has me considering it's time for him to go.

Should I go:
(1)
Bowden -> King (make 15k, King looking like a top 4 defender)
Ellis -> Goddard
Then next week,
Hill -> Brad Johnson (neither should change in price all that much)

OR (2)

Ellis -> Goddard
Hill - BJ,
take the zero and hope Bowden comes back in sooner rather than later.

Thoughts?

Burgoyne will be mixed based on the half back tag but it doesn't really matter when you're holding all year, it's all about the average. The other option is McLeod who has been very solid from Rd 2 onwards except when KCornes sat on him as per usual in the showdown. He does get tagged but is used to it and with his skills consistently shakes it.

Option 1 looks the better of the two, for most Bowden's pain has become too much. Certainly Ellis to Goddard is a great trade and take your pick at another premium back, it doesnt have to be King.

Hill to BJ trade will certainly still be available next week (barring ridiculous scores) and this gets you another look at BJ and 3 genuine keepers.
