Hope you're all wearing your colours and cheering them on this week. Heard on SEN that the Spreadeagle Hotel on Bridge Rd is offering free beers to those in dees colours from the end of the game until closing time should the dees win. Not much use to me here in QLD but would hate for anyone to miss out!

Bet you shit your pants when you saw he didn't get a gig in the side this week!
Not so much that, but rather seeing Neeld select two inferior KPP's in Davis and Sellar. Why?

It's the ****in' VFL bye, there is literally no reason why any of those two or, IMO, Spencer should be ahead of him.

If Fitzy could play KPD then I'm sure he would have gotten a chance ahead of them, had he been performing similarly.

As it stands, he can't.

Fitzy still needs to develop, he's a huge project player but he has an appetite for hard work it seems - I think he'll still be on the list come 2014 but I wouldn't be surprised if doesn't get a chance this season, despite his VFL form.

No Davis or Sellar required then. Comes down to Davey vs Rodan for the last spot, i'm taking Davey every time.

I'd take the bloke who doesn't have to chase from behind to tackle.

They are way too similar for the selection to matter though. Neither can run out a game, neither has much impact anymore and they have decent skills and decent pace. Rodan probably gets the nod and wears the vest for me.

Davey for me, because he's Davey and he's Melbourne. Rodan isn't Melbourne.

They will both have as little impact as eachother.

Davey for mine. They're both going to only get a handful of touches, but at least Davey's have some impact and hurt factor

I'd take Davey because he will make an impact late in the game if a sub and will play harder for the club than Rodan will.

Because they're defenders, and Fitzy is a forward, i.e., not a defender. It's not an "either/or" situation, and is dependant on team balance and opposition match-ups.
So, why do we need a defender in with Frawley, McDonald and Garland?

To upset the balance of the side?

We were too tall in rds 1 to 3 and now it's the same deal again.

Sellar is ok at FB, but I really doubt we're gonna play him there.

Good to see ordinary players get rewarded for ordinary VFL form.

Neeldy likes ordinary players because they play to their potential every week :thumbsu:

If we're going to bring a tall player to go forward why not just bring in Fitzy????

What bothers me more is 2 smalls out, 2 talls in.

Last week, we needed one more KPF and one less midfielder.

So now we go the other way?

GC are fast and will kill us on the break, Neeld probably thinks it's 2011 and we can still play keepy ups.

GC don't have 'the break' - their defensive transition is pretty poor IMO.
True, though we've struggled to match sides on the spread all year. Even GWS managed to go through periods where they had heaps of space and could move freely through the ground.

Even I have to admit that Sellar coming into the side baffles me, unless they plan on playing Gawn as a permanent forward and Sellar rotates in the ruck. Just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Sellar and Dawes are the final ins. Ridiculous Sellar plays ahead of Rodan and Davey; especially with Dixon out. I thought we were already too slow as it is?
Maybe he'll play forward to enact the structure that Dawes was recruited to play as part of Neelds game plan. Gawn as the ruck/forward player & Spencer ruck/bench.

Except that Fitzpatrick would play a forward/ruck role better than Sellar and Gawn would do more up the ground.

I didn't say I was answering everyone's question just that one.

Well Fitz might, or he might not, we can't say that for sure, but his VFL form has been good and he deserved the chance, if this is the role that was up for grabs this week.
