For the saints

And to think

No carrazzo
No yarran
No laidler
No thornton

I don't think it's any coincidence that the minute we lost Carrots to inury, we started losing the clearances and, hence, form.

Don't think we can put our poor form down to one player in particular, but my god we miss him.

It is clear when you see the players interviewed they are all happy with what they are doing and think it is just going to happen for them without having to put 100%. Muprh is the big in this he needs a rocket up the arse.

It looks to me like the boys are starting to believe their own publicity.. We have definitely lost the edge..

Ratten has to be held accountable for most of the strategic moves not coming off but cant be held accountable for a pea hearted attack on the contest! Way to many players not going in hard enough when its their turn to go. The structures of our team seem out of balance, we need to have a target at chf and not just bomb ball to small fwds, Its time for eddie and jeffy to be played out accross HF not deep fwd, it pains me to say it but we really have a team that is soft and likes to run and carry as long as there is no contested ball. At our free flowing best I seriously believe we are unbeatable we have too much speed its just when teams block our run we go to water and Ratten doesnt make the moves quick enough. I really wanna see some structual changes or we really are not gonna have much impact in the finals. Please turn it all around boys as we cant have those Essendon scum getting to 17 before us and right now it looks that way!!!

Even after a sleep I am still as peeved about last night.
The players have to stand up as of now, and ratts needs to show flexibility and hardness as a coach.
And if they don't we're no chance for a flag and even top 4.

I know it's a long season to go but our two losses have been very worrying.

not too sure what the heck happened to us
but we should be on 7-0
only teams that should challenge are hawthorn and geelong

this should have been a five goal win

ellard to play full game next
bower out for thornton, need someone who can go both ends
joseph to get the eff out of this team, week effort. yarran back
jeffrey needs more run through the mid if he goes missing
tuohy isnt doing enough, nor is russell
waite should not have been rested, because without game time he is rusty

toast to judd and scotland
Was only watching on tv but thought Bower was far from our worst. Agree with you on Tuohy and Russell though.

I could tell straight away when the at kilda players started getting physical early that we would lose. We always seem to go missing when a side exerts a physical precense. (robbo, ellard and kreuze excepted of course).

A) we seriously have some of the worst fans in the AFL. Doesn't take long for many to turn. And it seems everyone that 'turns' generally have no clue what they're talking about anyway. Embarrassing.

B) not sure if it's been mentioned, but we have a serious lack of understanding of a few basics. Especially around half back. How many times, not just last night, but consistently, can 3 defenders all go up and punch the ball, leaving an opposition crumber to waltz away as our blokes pick themselves up off the deck.
I understand you need to help your teammate out, but of you're going to leave your man on the ground, make sure the ball is fisted well and truly away from him.

C) noone can blame a team for losing if they give their all. Inconsistent effort should not be tolerated. Look at Mitch Robinsons game and then take one long, hard look at yourself.

D) why everyone we lose and Judd plays well are we called a one man team? That's disrespectful to the other few who did play well. Ellard, Robinson.

E) what's happened to our midfield? Last night playing the worst ruck combo in the league and we struggled badly. Hampson and Kreuzer are a great combo around the ground but IMO it might be time to test out Robbie. He's our best tap ruck and we need someone who can win it. If we're serious about this rotation policy, bring it into effect this week.

F) That was the best ever performance by a CFC sub. Back it up next week Dave

Bad performances aren't water off a ducks back any more if we want to be a contender.

Haters gotta hate. Remember Bower and Gibbs are whipping boys even when we win. :(

Premiership favourites.:D:o We're one of half a dozen contenders at this stage. A good loss like last night suggests there's a long road ahead.

One week at a time.

the intensity and hunger has dropped since we lost Carrazo, Laidler and Yarran. we look lost on the field, we need a confidence boost.
the game plan needs a tweak and we need an even contribution from all of the 22! put in the effort or lose your spot!

anyhow, its far from over. atleast were still in the top four. lets hope this is the turning point!

LETS GO BLUES!!!

Pretty disgraceful reading through this thread. As a result we are the laughing stock of bigfooty at the moment, everyone is talking about the great meltdown

We were exposed for pace in our backline while we are missing 2 of our key backline players, one of them our fastest

Murphy for the first time in history was tagged out of a game and now hes soft and weak?

Up until last night Gibbs was a star etc. We know hes not a Robbo type that belts through packs and gets his hands dirty, hes meant to be the 'Rolls Royce' isnt he? Didnt you nickname him that? A bad game and hes now a beat up datsun apparently

Just relax a touch. Hope everyone can come back next week and read this thread if we get up over Adelaide and you should realise how stupid and childish you are

Im not saying there arent holes, but we didnt need to lose a game to realise we arent a perfect footy side. We have lots to work on and we arent going to go from 1 finals to win premiership favourites instantly, and you shouldnt need a single game to tell you that either

Never forget this - if you are a true Carlton Supporter in the words of SKernahan

" We are Carlton ..... bugger the rest"

There is a reason why other teams delight in our losses - it is because we can play like they can't - they are scared really scared.

Don't for one minute think we wont find our way around the umbrella defences and their scragging and rugby style mauling and shyte footie that they are throwing up...and when we do?

what will they all have then ?

Nuthin.

Whenever one of the so called bigger clubs lose a game they expected to win, the rest of BF talks about a meltdown. Our posters talk about visiting other team boards to watch the same thing happening.

I reckon we just ignore how the main board or Bay 13 feels about us. You could have one poster having a meltdown and they would quote that poster as being representative. If we all sat around saying we'll be fine, no problem etc etc, they trot out the deluded, arrogant line.

I think we should just accept that we can not possibly win those sort of discussions.

Woeful performance.

Was summed up when Walker ran towards goal in the pocket and missed from 20m. Jeffy and Mitch were standing directly in front and had a go at AW. Mean while the St Kilda players spread and took the ball down the other end for a score with little pressure.

Positives
-We defended horribly, kicked erratically, got smashed in the midfield, made numerous terrible clangers and didn't chase and only lost by 4 goals with
Murphy and Simpson playing their worst games I can remember. May sound a bit like Serena Williams, but St Kilda aren't that good.

-After playing a pretty ordinary game against GWS, Ellard managed to restore some respectability to the score in his 1/3 of a game. Hopefully it kickstarts his year.

-Can't think anything else

Haha oh geez Farren Ray with 9 votes, says it all.

Roosy pointed out a really key structure of St.K on the couch. He showed a number of instances where Watters employed the tactic of 3 or 4 Saints players standing jut outside the stoppages so they cold block our turn and spread from the stoppages, namely Ray and Montagna and a couple of others. We just though we would win every stoppage and paid no respect to these players, hence they got free and made us pay. I am surprised the coaching staff let this happen all night.

Agree:thumbsu:, Starting to think they are beggining to be too comfortable with our "class" at the stoppages, Must start taking control of the games from the coaches box more, enough of the "stick with what he's doing, he'll come right approach"

Honestly last night's big game changing coaching move when the game obviously needed a shake up....... was move murphy to the forward line:eek::thumbsd:
