He could've tackled Nunez. Chose to bump (was more than a brace IMO). Still think Jetta was the main cause, but McStay will probably be the one that cops it.
Doesn't matter though, because we have better players than him waiting in the wings.......
The problem with McStay is that we have better players in the reserves. Skinner and Ballenden are all better players and should be given a chance. Seriously, can anyone explain to me what more these players have to do? They're not even given a chance in the senior squad. Meanwhile, players like Lester, Ah Chee, McStay and even Hipwood have been given multiple chances and still remain in the team.
Admittedly, I think our best squad isn't even out there yet
Robinson, Birchall, McStay, Ah Chee, Smith should be swapped for Cox, Witherden, Skinner, Answerth & Ballenden
I wasnt very excited about what I saw from Archie, but with McStay missing I would be surprised to see him dropped. The answer seems pretty simple to me, drop Archie and replace him with Skinner. I could see the argument for playing Archie against NicNat and Gawn, but Essendon don't have a monster at ruck. That gets rid of the main advantage of Archie's presence, without that he's just a passenger.

Does that include his OOBOTF?There does seem to be a lot hand wringing about our forward line and kicking for goal and its now getting a bit of media attention as a narrative to run with when talking about the Lions. But i will say this - despite accuracy issues, we have the number one attack in the competition. Saints are just behind us with a historically accurate record - which is more sustainable going forward? Both will regress to the mean.
With regards to McStay, I'm a big supporter of his and my post history supports that. While i do think concerns about his goal kicking are overblown (his career is 80.49) because of a couple of howlers infront of goal, I will acknowledge that he does lean back when kicking for goal and obviously lacks confidence from that awkward 20m distance. But his kicking mechanics are rock solid - so if its a confidence and repetition thing, whats better for him? Keep doing it under senior footy pressure I say, whilst we benefit from other parts of his game
I thought he was really important in the first qtr when they were winning centre clearances and he was pushing back to stop them from getting inside 50 entries, didnt notice him dip in the 2nd and dont recall thinking he had a stinker but for that moment of madness. Ive thought his physicality has been quite critical for our team this year but would like to see him improve his polish and remove the concentration lapses which have been at critical timesJarrod has been off for a while IMO.
To date, not coming on as expected and makes too many errors for my liking, including the miss against Geelong.
Obviously plenty of time, but some concerning issues for mine.
Fages on SEN said if he was done we wouldn’t challenge - due to dollars (or lack thereof).I hope they contest it. Jetta was clearly leading with his head as he had already done earlier, didn’t need a concussion test and played the game out. McStay has stopped moving at the point of impact. What else can he do? McVanish?
Does that include his OOBOTF?

You’re bringing facts to the argument which we all know doesn’t have a place on big footyI don't think OOBOTF is included in any individual goal kicking stats. Maybe Champion Data has them.
There is a big element of confirmation bias among McStay critics and knockers. 80 goals 49 is really decent whichever way you want to slice it. Until his 2 behinds last night, he had kicked 6.2 this season without any OOBOTF , well none that I can recall anyway, The two misses last night were from relatively long range and didn't miss by much.
Compared to Clug and Berry (6.17 between them up to Round 7) he's an ace.

Yeah it was just a bit of cheek. One of his shots ended up 20m from goal on a slight angle to Robbo, do we mark that in the OOB column? I think he's been a really important roleplayer and I think it's that he doesn't ice many of his regulation shots that gives him his bad rep. In my contribution in the changes thread I tried to praise him as I think he is quite critical for us actually, just not for his goalkicking dependability.I don't think OOBOTF is included in any individual goal kicking stats. Maybe Champion Data has them.

Robbo going into bat for McStay on 360 regarding Jetta leading with the head. I really hope we contest that. Can surely get that down to a week.
I’m not differentiating between anything at all. I didn’t provide the stats. The goals he misses are relatively easy when you are around 40 metres out on a 45 degree angle or
less you need to slot them. That said his kicking has improved this year. McCluggage normally tries to kick them on the run and doesn’t have many set shots. Are you differentiating between set shots and shots on the run.
lol I hope we get Robbo to defend McStay did you hear him - “McStay was just going into the contest to see what was going on”.
Beautiful analysis by TGO. I'd love to see him put on the wig and introduce himself in a 360 promo as Robbo QC.
