AReid may well turn out to be a great defender.Has the height and marking power. He’s quick and a good tackler for his size. His brother provides the template at Essenden.Archer is tracking to be better.
But he isn’t ready and hasn’t prepared to play key defence.
OA is a very very good footballer but has been distracted by contract crap.
If he stays in defence in the short term he will adjust and be a gun defender.

Owies over Long feels like a big error to me. He was absolutely dreadful and that performance should warrant a spot in the 2s.

As much as I like that Allan gets his chance to debut him being selected ahead of Gross I don’t quite get - especially when the 3 outs (Davis, Dewar, Long) are all wing/HF types

If Gross (or Davis) comes in for Duggan then it makes a bit more sense

Slightly older team this week and the lowest number (6) of 20 or under players 20 or under (at 1/1) we’ve had this year

Don’t understand why Owies is still getting a game.

He must have been promised games to transfer clubs.
He tries hard but has a serious skilll deficit.

I would say that West Coast are big on being the smartest guy in the room and hating admitting when they get it wrong so they will keep playing him and playing him hoping he comes good so they can justify the trade.

I don’t think Longs form at WAFL deserved a recall. Like I said above, think they wanted Brockman last week but he didn’t pull up and now that he’s fit they’re going with him

So bring him in for Owies who did less in 4 quarters han Long did in 1 quarter.
Pretty disappointing team this week.

Another thing he said this morning at the press conference worries me too as he said that he wouldn’t drop Oscar to the WAFL to regain form. That’s very Simmo like if you ask me and these selections are starting to look that way too.

No its not. We are already super young/inexperienced in the midfield without adding another 2 game player

Oscar in current form is still better than Brock or Edwards as a kpd tbh.
He is still one of our top players when hes up and running, I wouldn't be concerned too much.
Good teams don't generally drop their star players, they find ways to get them back into form while in the main side.

While I think the long call is harsh I do think he needs some touch at wafl level. Brockman coming I don’t mind as he looks classy at wafl level and hoping things can click at this level

Going forward, he won't be on the list. We are the worst team in the competition, on track for the worst possible year of any club since the existence of University... and he still can't get a game in the seniors. And we are desperate for mid-age players with a bit of experience.

I think that shows where he's at.

Any time a club brings in a new coach, it's a chance for everyone to reset expectations and put their best foot forward. He's been consistently middling at best. I just don't think he has the heart to be an AFL footballer.

Does it show where he is at? The club just clearly has favourites. Would petch have been any worse this year than Duggan, Cole and Allen? Why do those guys get endless chances.

Donald is their Duggan.Hard at it but so many ****ups.Constantly flying with his big defenders instead of one staying down.

Mini has made some really great selection decisions but also has some really bad ones that even Simmo wouldn’t churn out.
