My self awareness tells me to look to the future and not dwell in the past.
It's his job as special commentator to critique teams.
Did you like him when he led us to the light?

My self awareness says learn from the past or you're doomed to repeat it.

It's my privilege as a supporter to be able to critique the players coach's commentators and anyone else who gets in the way.

Adam did a great job in 2018. A reasonable job from 2013 to 17. Rubbish from 2019 onwards.

Can confirm my optimism took quite the battering after last night's game to the point of wanting to take a break.

I don't think I've seen a team with such pathetically deplorable skills as ours. Last night you'd think you were watching the bottom place Sunday ammos play the top AFL team. We can't hit 2m handballs without either completely missing the target or it getting intercepted. Then the Demons are hitting targets 40m+ by foot like professional footballers.

I just don't get where the skills go? Granted coming back from 2 months off before preseason training you may be a bit rusty. Heck round 1 of the Ansett Cup when there's pressure then sure. But how after 7 rounds of a game that you've played and trained for your entire f*cken life are you still so bad with fundamentals? AND F*CKEN DROPPING REGULATION MARKS!

Need to see some light at the end of the tunnel and the only place I'm seeing that right now is the Beagles, Hewett and Ginbey. Maybe Waterman. There's just so much disappointing trash.

Yeah.....but your critique is shit

To his credit Simmo is the only person on the fox team to elevate the discourse and education around tactics and structure for all teams

the bulk of the fox team just go "x player is pretty good aye", "y team pressure bad" and we're meant to nod in agreement

Agreed, they just cannot deal with pressure. The team confidence, after 3 years of losses is shot to shit.
They need some mental therapy classes and some wins under the belt .
Fcuk the AFL, they should let us spend our money on top notch players and bend the rules a bit.

Fairly negative vibe in here but the game was even for three quarters, with the quarter we were beaten in being the quarter we were trying to figure things out after Gov was subbed off. Certainly not doom and gloom.

What is doom and gloom is that this performance was against Melbourne. We won't be transitioning end-to-end as easily against better sides.

What isn't doom and gloom is that we have another cellar dweller next week in Richmond.

Hewett getting through multiple games now is huge. Playing significant midfield time in each is even better. His confidence is building.

Kelly in the middle isn't working. Swap him with Hutch.

Owies up forward isn't working. Put Baker down there or prioritise Long/Brockman.

Flynn was always going to be beaten badly by Gawn but I am curious to hear others' opinions about Jack Williams in the ruck. While Williams also gets beaten, it feels like he makes the opposing ruck work more, which gives our midfielders a fighting chance.

Oscar Allen is building confidence. He needs to go back forward soon though if we're eyeing off a band 1 pick for him. Either that or Oscar needs to wrap his head around becoming a permanent defender on less money because he's a better option than Edwards at the moment.

Bo Allan had a solid debut. Unfortunately he'll miss some time for the Viney incident but hopefully he doesn't beat himself up over it and comes straight back into the side after his suspension.

Third week in a row putting ten goals on the board. Yes, we need more, but it's an improvement and the kind of metric we need to be focusing on.

What a bunch of sooks you two are, least he offers something in the box instead of the absolute dribble that comes out of pav and Schofields mouth. I reckon he’s great combats the hatred from pav and puts him in his place occasionally.
He ****ed the club up and is still getting paid for it and then goes and gets paid for commenting on how bad we are and what needed to be done and needs to be done to fix the club.

he can **** off back to Victoria and the north club he loves so much.

At the game last night, first time seeing us live this year. I walked away disappointed, but not necessarily disheartened.

Firstly, Boy do we make things hard for ourselves. Couldn’t win a contest tonight to save our lives, then when we got the ball back we burnt it badly. Yeo really can’t come back quick enough- we need that bigger body to shield our younger boys that got beaten tonight.

Some of our decision making and turnovers were terrible. Jack Williams kick on the 45 to the first gamer who wasnt in any way calling for the ball (which will see Allen now cop weeks) on a 1x3 a prime example. I also noticed our work rate with ball in hand was pretty listless- we didn’t work for each another enough to provide options.

But overall, I thought the defensive effort post clearance was good, definitely an improvement since the GC game. Gov going down at half time really changed the game, I feel. The contest numbers were terrible, but I think whilst Gov was patrolling we were in with a chance. That weight of numbers in the 3rd was just too much.

Not playing BBW in tandem with Flynn this week definitely cost us. Gawn is stymied to an extent by mobile rucks which Flynn isn’t. Flynn just couldn’t get near him and we didn’t help him, either.

I love Elijah Hewett & Reuben Ginbey. I feel better days are coming, and they will be the main reason why.

Allen down back I felt was good. And the best part of the night was clearly Hunts Karate kick.
Did you notice how players like Kelly, Cripps, Duggan, Cole and Hunt were moving around?

Kelly either isn’t right physically. Just has no run or burst, or, he’s just given up.

Either way he shouldn’t be playing in the seniors.
Looks like he’s lost interest.
Shouldn’t have come out in the media and say he’s ’lost love for the game’. Now it’s become a self fulfilling prophecy.

Positives for me is the young brigade are leading the charge in hewett, Ginbey, Maric, Reid x 2, Williams in terms of skill and abilities. This bodes well as we continue to transition out or older players in Duggan, Cole, Cripps, Kelly who are not up to par for what mini is trying to implement.

Unfortunately I believe this means another couple years of stink and copping it

I think the team is missing Yeo a lot more than people realize.

Him dead immediately after signing a contact extension is a real kick in the mason cox.

Real sliding doors moment with Harley too IMO.

Wow! Never thought this would be the place we'd hear about the state of air traffic controllers in some far off land. Thanks for the heads up.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Think you've got your job descriptions mixed up matey

I was referring to these characters

Positives

  • Hewett
  • Ginbey
  • Waterman

Negatives

  • Flynns last ever game for the club. He doesnt have AFL level fitness at all. Blew up after qtr time. Id delist early along with Harry Barnett :(
  • Huthinson isnt a midfielder... he is a half forward....
  • Owies cant play half forward... he can only play forward pocket....
  • Brockman is lazy, disinterested with a low football IQ. Has to go into the WAFL and learn the midfield
  • Tim Kelly
  • Hough looks lost in the midfield.. Still persist though
  • Bakers disposal
  • Hunts inability to pick up a football
  • Reids continued poor form
  • Bo Allans disposal

A 100% reset is needed of where our players play and how we play... and its Round 8 :(
Disagree on Brockman and Bo Allan, the rest I mainly agree with. Don’t see Hough as an inside mid ever.
I thought Brockman showed a fair bit of skill in the centre in the last quarter and was creative before that . I don’t think he is given a very big role. I think he is unfairly criticised although I am watching the game on TV.
Bo Allan I thought was fine for a debut game. I didn’t see him make any disposal blunders.
