I would think if Ballantyne comes back and plays well, Crozier might become an option again across half back.
Is a good option , but I think one of croz or grey will be drop to peel . hoping is croz as I prefer grey toughness.

Well, I'm glad I didn't post on here earlier. At half time I was ready for:

Out - Everyone
In - Anyone else

Then, suddenly it all turned around and guys who were playing like absolute crabs became real footballers again and would have made me look like a real dill.

My main concern is that when the pressure is really on early in games, our defense is disorganized and we look like being scored against every time the ball goes in. Even if they miss and score a point we can't get the ball out of a zone because a) we have some very poor kicks AND decision makers in the backline, and b) we don't have anyone who is prepared to take the game on and break the lines from defense (ala Jason Johannisen, Bob Murphy, Heath Shaw). This means we are relying on mediocre kickers to pinpoint the ball through a zone, something we just stuff up way too often. Once the opposition tires late in the game and we are given that little bit of extra time and space we make better decisions and our ball movement improves.

The reason for that rambling was a lead up to my outs. Firstly, I think it is important to keep the majority of our defenders together as much as possible, because we need them to build some real synergy and understanding. However, I think it is important that we recognize the deficiencies back there and start to address them.

For me, the guy who is most out of form and confidence at the moment is Ibbotson. I would drop him back to Peel and leave him there for at least three weeks to see if he can find some of his form from a few seasons ago when he was talked about as an all Australian.

Having watched Peel on Saturday I would love to see Luke Ryan brought in as a a straight swap, but as Danny pointed out he probably needs a few more games to get up top full match fitness. I liked the suggestion of Danyle Pearce in for Ibbo, with Crozier back to defense but I honestly think Collins has earned a recall. I know people are saying he is slow, but I would put that argument in the same bucket as the "Brady Grey can't kick" and the "Taberner can't mark" ones. People hear something and suddenly it becomes fact - give the guy a couple of games and see how he goes, if it doesn't work then we try something else. Maybe in a week or two Ryan is ready, or Griffin Logue comes back in. But lets try something, this has been a problem for a while and I think we can all see it.

If it ain't broke.....

No changes unless forced. I admit Collins has been playing really well in the WAFL but not sure Richmond is the team to bring him in (for example in place of Ibbo).

Consider strongly - Collins
Consider - Logue, Danyle, Ryan, Sheridan

Drop consider - Ibbo
Think about - Langdon, Tucker, Sutcliffe

Crozier & Grey would also want to lift to keep Ballaz at bay when he gets back.

Richmond similar to Essendon have 3 small forwards in Butler, Rioli and Castanga, as well as Martin, so I can't see us bringing in Collins this week.

Thank god they don't have Ty Vickery anymore. Absolute hack but he always played out of his skin against us.

Out Taberner.
Weak crab who sleeps with the lights on.
You would have to be joking with the comments about Tabs based on Today's game (and Meima likes your post WTF?)

No change this week unless players need to be rested.
If Stephen Hill is fit then maybe Sutcliffe out

Out: Ibbo, In : Collins would be the Logical thing to do.

Its weird, Collins played 12 games last year. Its 7 games into the 2017 season and he cant break into the 22. I wont be surprised if we take on Richmond with an unchanged team.

I might sound harsh in saying this, Balic might be dropped and play a couple of games of WAFL. Happy to bring in Luke Ryan.

It is understood Ballas will mentor Brady while pursuing a career as a jockey and horse trainer.
You would be the only person on BF Freo with that understanding. Did you hear that from a Saints Board member ?

I'd still like to see Collins in for Ibbotson but doubt it will happen as Collins seems to have run over Ross Lyon's mother or something. Spurr is bloody great at the intercept mark but ****s sake he has absolutely no attacking flair. I would keep him in for now until the Peel lads have a bit of game time.

Weller had a shit game but has credits in the bank. Maybe would move Crozier back and him forward.

Langdon and Tucker were quite poor but would give them another go against the Tiges.

My only change, if any...

In: Collins, waking up for the first half
Out: Ibbotson

You can't force people to like or dislike a post. Tab is being inconsistent until he went back to wafl and do some tap work. Yes hit out 3 or 4 but his overall game no longer just based on marking and scoring goal . Anyway I seldom reply to your opinion until you call me out for no reason . Learn to agree to disagree .

I love to see collins in , but Luke Ryan ,collins ,nyhuis ,cox ,logue is building a great chemistry at peel backline . there is a habit of kicking sideway instead of attacking putting ibbo back in there( teaching bad habit) like the last few minute of the game vs essendon . Balic is really good in the second half not sure why you want to drop him to wafl for, the only reason he get drop is having limited pre season .
Luke Ryan just need to wait for his time to come.

Ross is able to make changes during game day so let him do his job.

The last few minutes of the game against Essendon were perfect. We didn't lose the ball and maintained possession for a couple of minutes. That sort of practice for a pressure situation is invaluable. Next time we need to maintain possession of the ball might be in the final minute of a game we are leading by less than a goal. Essendon allowed us the space and were waiting for us to bomb the ball. Had Essendon manned us up we would have moved the ball forward.

Sweet as I really prefer ibbo with freo color this week than peel , what a way to practice vs Richmond with rioli type of player around.

There is irony in play here. I think another posters comments from awhile back are what scon is making fun of.

Will be attending this one, not giving us much hope though. Richmond always seem to play like world-beaters against us.

Really think Ibbo needs to get dropped, the problem is (as has been mentioned) that Richmond have quite a few small forwards so he stays.

Maybe Ryan gets a trip home?

It's actually a good game to rest Sandilands.

Hows hilly tracking? Is he a chance this week or more likely next week?

Injury list on the 2nd of May said he was 2-3 weeks away. So probably won't play against Tigers and probably won't against the blues either.

Id like no changes. Ibbo was crablike in a couple of plays, and Sutcliffe, Spurr and Weller had their moments. But they did well enough to make sure the mosquito fleet didn't have too much influence. Richmond now have a few smalls that can cause problems.
