Perkins should have kicked those goals but she didn’t. Pressure gets to the best of us. We just weren’t good enough today even though we had an almighty comeback and showed some good damn fight in the second half! Inconsistency is expected with young teams. Gee, how exciting is it going to be in the next few years once our young list starts getting more experience and hits their prime!

Indigenous Guernsey
The Brisbane Lions AFLW will wear their 2022 Indigenous Guernsey for the first time today, in celebration of the AFLW Indigenous Round. Designed by Ally Anderson, the guernsey isn’t just for our AFLW team, it’s for our staff, our Club, our history, our members and our fans. The guernsey features the totems of AFLW players, Dakota Davidson, Ally Anderson, and Courtney Hodder, along with the players, Brisbane Lions staff, and loyal fans and members.
“It was an honour to design this year’s guernsey and be able to include a representation of everyone involved in our AFLW history, most importantly, our members and fans who are an integral part of our story.” – Ally Anderson.

Traditional Gift Exchange

As part of the Indigenous Round celebrations, the Brisbane Lions and West Coast Eagles will participate in a gift exchange. The Brisbane Lions will present the West Coast Eagles with a Digging Stick, made by Gubbi Gubbi traditional owners. It is traditionally used collect yams and other native foods, or in combat where women would enter the Gabba Aboriginal Battle Ground holding these sticks in the air and yelling taunts before the opposing tribes engaged. The Digging Stick is predominately Lions’ colours, with some West Coast colouring too.

Why did I think Sarah Perkins would kick a goal from 25meters out directly in front to win my bet?
Speaking of bets, is it the bookies or tipsters who've gotten this horribly wrong?

I wonder if Michael Prior thinks this whole indigenous thing has been "Done to death" too?

Probably the most one sided half of footy I have ever seen in any form.
Brisbane have 40 more disposals and 28 more tackles.

If there's a major head knock why isn't play stopped immediately, there was play happening all around Newman, shocking duty of care by the umpires

I'd say that's on the trainers/medical team that assess her on field to let the umpires know when someone has been KO'd. Normal injuries don't stop play.

It seems common sense to me that if the trainers asked for play to stop for a KO, it would've happened. The umpires aren't doctors, and the game goes on.

Lions now have the highest score in AFLW 98 points. Last season kept the Suns to the lowest AFLW score 2 points.

With this round now in the books, the updated win-loss stats for some of the most imposing home game records in the league are as follows.

NM at Arden Street & in Tas: 13-0 (100%)

Coll at Victoria Park: 9-2 (82%)

Melb at Casey Fields: 17-4 (81%)

Frem at Fremantle Oval: 15-6 (71%)

Adel in South Australia: 17-8 (68%)

Bris in Queensland: 14-8 (64%)

Melbourne have won their last 12 at that lovely venue. They've also recorded wins in 4 of the 6 categories above--a feat equalled by Adelaide, Brisbane and Fremantle. To date, the Dockers and North are the only teams to have featured in all 6 of those scenarios.

And fwiw:
  • WCE*, Bris, Melb and Rich yet to play at ASO/Tas.
  • Rich*, Adel, Carl, GC and GWS yet to play at Vic Park.
  • Coll, Geel and WB yet to play at Casey.
  • Rich and StK yet to play at Fremantle Oval.
  • Rich and WCE yet to play in SA.
  • Rich and StK yet to play in QLD v Brisbane.
*but fixtured to do so in R10
