Don't see anything particularly out of whack about this team, which is how we'll probably line up if we don't make any changes:

B: Gwilt Stanley Newnes
HB: Roberton Fisher Dempster
C: Dal Santo Armitage Montagna
HF: Saad Riewoldt Milera
F: Milne Maister Hickey
R: McEvoy Geary Steven
I: Ross Ray Siposs Webster

Ross and Ray would rotate through the midfield and Siposs would rotate through whichever spot is available (taking the spot of whoever has come off for a rest) on either the forward line or backline, or occasionally on the wing. Webster to be subbed on whenever. Alternatively, we could swap Siposs with Newnes.

Doubt we'll go in with this team though. Think there will probably be at least one change, but I'm not worried about that team above, if we don't, due to how versatile Siposs is.
I'd like to see Siposs just play in the one position. I think he doesn't quite have that versatility you mention and needs a good half a dozen or so games in a set position to find his feet a bit.

On another note, if we do go in with 3 talls, the likes of Millera and Milne will need to up their defensive output on last week. They ought to watch Ahmed - his second effort that led to the Siposs goal in the third quarter last week was magical.

not sure running relying on siposs for midfield rotations is the smartest move. will be a late out IMO

What's the story with Dunnell? Does he want to leave for essendon and hence not being played?

He played regularly in the back half of the year.

Also, this is a key game for Milne. If he doesn't play well, he should be dropped for one game to sort himself out. I think the pressure's getting to him.

Interesting. Running around as a midfielder/HBF can hurt one's groins when you are not used to it. It can also affect your ability to kick through the ball..... It can also affect your ability to train and hence find it difficult to run out games.

Blake, Jones and Dunell all playing for Zebras today, which means sure sign we are going in unchanged tomorrow.

That is interesting. You're not trying to drop any hints there are you? o_O It certainly explains a lot.

I've been wondering for a few weeks now what's wrong with him physically, as he just looks completely exhausted every time the camera is on him (which has been the case since late in the preseason games) and I haven't noticed this as being the case in the past, so it made sense that there was something amiss, especially since this was apparently his first full/uninterrupted preseason, which ought to have resulted in him being much more able to run out games than he had been in the past, not less.

Surely we can afford to give him a couple more weeks off, to get them right?

(Blake) At the expense of who? Would have to be Hickey. Unless we have an injury concern we dont know about. Wouldnt think another tall defender was necessary with Adel not having too many giant fwds.
Did you listen to Scott Watters on 5AA? Doesn't sound like Hickey will be out of the side anytime soon unless injured.

We'll be unchanged, that's why Blake is the only emergency heading over. If there was doubts over a player, you'd expect CJ or a Dunell would have flown over also..Better to get some game time at Sandy & just send Blake over for insurance..
Maister's inclusion gives the Crows defence something to think about, if they attempt to double or triple team Rooey..The Crows will have to keep a close eye on Maister & Hickey, which will hopefully still leave Rooey one out..!

Exactly will be no late change barring some last minutes Lenny Hayes style injury.

Clint Jones isn't going to play today I highly doubt. Saw him at KFC last night and the word is he isn't. Not even going to fly over so count that one out unless he was lying

Jason Blake is only emergency that flew, the other emergencies played with Sandringham

I think that it's pretty careless to take only one player interstate as an emergency. What if we have some form of late injury/illness to a midfielder or small forward? That could severely impede our structures, depending on what they are, exactly. You'd think that the club might've at least brought one small and one tall player so that we're safe. If they didn't want said small player to miss out on match fitness, they could have played limited minutes in the VFL yesterday then flown over. It wouldn't be ideal preparation, but at least it's better than having no one as coverage.

A genuine late withdrawal is usually rare, but I just don't think it's rare enough to completely disregard the possibility.
