My team as follows:
Backs: Cornes, Shaw, Milburn, Goddard, Symes, Mattner, Wonna (Selwood, SDT)
Mids: Kornes, Swan, Ablett, Thompson, Stevens, Palmer (Ebert, Browne)
Rucks: Cox, Simmonds (West, Cartledge)
Forwards: Brown, Pavlich, Didak, Cloke, Porplyzia, Deledio, Rioli (Gamble, Tippet)
The bolded players are ones that won't need to be traded out unless end of the season or injury. I have 13 trades and $11k left.
Injury/money pending, i'm looking at the following trades.
Round 8
In: PBurg, Ibbotson
Out: Mattner, Symes
Round 9
In: BJ, Neagle
Out: Cloke, Rioli
Round 10
In: Chapman
Out: Gamble
Would leave me with 8 trades, about 50-100k, and Palmer, Ibbotson, and Wonna my only starters needing upgrading. Probably would upgrade Wonna and Palmer and keep Ibbo if he maintains his spot.
Thoughts?
Looks good. I am just wondering how many trades you are keeping for injuries?

Would it be a good idea to downgrade Houli to a low-price rookie in order for me to trade Ellis to someone like Goddard or P. Burgoyne?
Or do I take the ballsy option, and let go of Gibbs or Houli for Browne, freeing up 200k+.
absolutely.
you should be starting Palmer like everyone else.
for cover, Browne/Bird is more than adequate. You sound confident. I just get the feeling that one or both of those guys could be dropped from their respective sides. I don't get that 'automatic selection' feel about them.
Here's what I'm weighing up trade-wise this week with regard to my midfield:
My midfield is currently: Cross, Hayes, Stanton, Stevens, Gibbs, Houli, Palmer & Bird. (keepers in bold)
Browne coming through looks too good a cash cow to pass up.
Now, do I do the conservative thing, and trade Bird for Browne making a slightly dissapointing 90k.
Or do I take the ballsy option, and let go of Gibbs or Houli for Browne, freeing up 200k+. This would mean my mid emergs. would be Bird and Browne (a touch thin?) and Palmer would have to start as 6th mid until he could be upgraded. And if I go Ballsy, who should go, Houli or Gibbs?
Thank in advance for any advice.

Agree with Tippaz, in that you should be starting Palmer and Bird/Browne is adequate coverage.... however.....
I've got Gibbs, Houli & Palmer all starting, with Bird & Tuck on my bench. I'll be trading Tuck > Browne this week. If Tuck is named, however, I'll trade Bird > Browne, as I think he's just about peaked and is really suffering for TOG. Gibbs and Houli both have some price increases coming up. I think Houli's on the steeper curve, but be conscious that Essendon is playing Sydney this week (but it's ANZ Stadium, not the SCG)
If the extra cash is going to help you strengthen your team immediately elsewhere, then go Gibbs > Browne and put Palmer on the field.
If you plan on doing a centre upgrade in the next few weeks, however, I'd offload Bird this week and suck the extra $$$ out of Gibbs & Houli.
Yeh thats my problem as well. I wasted my first 4 trades so that really hurts now but it taught me for next year. I am looking at keeping 4-5 trades as well but if I keep Palmer I could have 6-7.Yeah, I think I've got a bit of a problem there... I guess that comes with me being a 1st year player, but oh well! My trade after round 1 will come back and bite me in the arse (McIntosh --> Cox, Dyson --> Batram)
I've learnt now not to waste trades!
I'm thinking that I can probably get away with keeping Ibbotson as my 7th defender, if my first 6 are premiums. Either that or keep Palmer as my 6th midfielder, but I think i'd rather say Bartel/Ibbo than Palmer/Birchall come the last few rounds.
This would mean I would only need to upgrade Wonna and Palmer, so with 8 trades left, I could downgrade 1 cash cow and upgrade the other 2. 5 trades, at worst 4 left for injuries. Would that be enough? Just gotta hope my emergencies get picked most weeks![]()
I am in a similar position and am unsure what to do.
My current midfield is Kornes, Cross, Hayes, S. Burgoyne, Stevens, Houli (Palmer, Taylor)
Houli is the only one of my starting midfielders that need to be upgraded.
I was considering downgrading Taylor to Browne which will enable me to upgrade Nathan Thompson to BJ. The Taylor to Browne trade will make me $79,400, meaning I will have $154,700 spare. Then trading Nathan Thompson to Brad Johnson would cost me $98,300, leaving me with $56,400 left.
If I was to trade Houli for Browne, I also would need to start Palmer. Whilst I'm not really all that against doing so, it is quite risky and I am unsure as to whether or not I should do it. However, trading Houli for Browne would free up $205,100, leaving me with $280,400. As I said, the Thompson to BJ trade will cost me $98, 300, and this will leave me with $182,100 spare.
Which approach would you recommend?

It depends this week if I do:
Symes > Milburn
Bradshaw > P. Burgoyne
I could save a trade and keep Bradshaw but I think Symes has to go.
Are they to sideways?
I know we can't take much away from tonights match due to lower TOG, low possession style game, and teams not going to the star players, but I was hoping to compare Johncock and P. Burgoyne as trade targets for this week.
I thought i'd use tonights game as an indication about which one to pick up, but now I am no better off... both got plenty of it, but Johncock is $26k cheaper than Burgoyne.
I haven't seen Johny play much, but is he a go to man for the crows and is he likely to keep an 80+ average?
Here's a question that been messing with my brain this weekend...
Ok I have Morton who I am going to Browne this week....
HAVE I MISSED THE BOAT ON IBBOTSON? I have got Ellis, Nicoski and Symes all in my backline.....
I was going to go Morton to Brown and then Ellis to Burgoyne this week....I'm now thinking about downgrading symes or ellis to Ibbotson and then next week doing a big upgrade....
What are your thoughts?
I have a similar thought to you.
I have Symes and Mattner in my backline, with Wonna as my 7th backman. I'm thinking of going Symes-->Ibbotson and Mattner-->Burgoyne/Johncock.
Would mean I start 5 keepers (inc cornes), Wonna and Ibbo. Wonna will be upgraded later, and I will probably just keep Ibbo for the season as long as he keeps doing OK. At worst, he will go up a fair bit in cash.
Getting on Ibbo will free up a lot of cash to upgrade mids/forwards, which seems to be where the big point scorers are this year. I'd rather put that money to upgrading say Rioli to BJ than Symes to a mid-ranged back.
Thoughts?
What's the general consensus on Myers? Our questions do seem very similar or do I leave this boat, wait a week and get on the Myers boat which may go just as far and solve some problems!!
