Carlton have become so reactive in the way they play. Instead of tackling the man with the ball they wait until the player either gets rid of it or sidesteps them.
There is no hunger to hunt the ball (with a few exceptions).
Despite saying this, I hope that they go in with a similar line-up vs Melbourne to try and get some confidence and stability in the team.

How does Russell get a game?
Gibbs to be dropped. Hopeless. Kruezer, Walker, Curnow any other front running gutless player can follow.

I don't understand how a back-line that was Flogged on Monday that was made to look slow and noncompetitive was not tweaked.
I have massive reservations about the depth now if the Coaching panel can not dig up someone who wants to play competitive football.
Do we have any kids that can play or want to play,i can say i was embarrassed to watch some players today it is inexcusable.

Essendon realised their deficiences over the summer and addressed them got better defensively and bigger bodied. Brenton Sanderson transformed his team over the summer. We have gone backwards.
We are soft in the midfield and only have one genuine bloke who can get his hand on the ball. C Judd and we've run him into the ground.
List management very poor. Have not recruited enough hard-bodied midfielders where the game is won and lost.
Fatal errors in getting McLean and Watson over Darling.
The thing that most annoys me most, however, is our coaching staff know how teams are going to set-up against us and have done nothing about it. Out coached week in week out.
No plan B. Terrible forward structure, concede every first kick in defensively and can't get the ball out of our defensive 50. Playing out-dated football. The press is over.
Rattten will NOT take us to the next level. He is not an innovator. I know I will get shot down for it but he has had his time and we need a change. If you are satisfied with mediocrity then maintain the status quo.

I've heard some supporters saying that carlton has to recruit some players who are tough because all our players are soft. Although they were basically all terrible today, this is not true. This is pretty much the same bunch of players who won games last year and beat collingwood this year.
I think either one of these things have happened:
Arrogance - if they were arrogant they sure wont be now
Laziness- no desire, fight, hardness
They seem to be afraid to improve. Every time they get some good form and some hype surrounding them, they fall apart.

Harsh on Kruezer at least he tried led our tackles,Backline is deplorable.
time to readjust the goals. focus on trying to make the finals, and getting the basics right... like getting goalside of your opponent at appropriate times. get into the 8 and hope players like carrazzo, murphy are in some sort of form if they return.

Maybe, but I think you are far better placed than we were. It's not like you have had Brad Johnson, Aker, Mitch Hahn, Brian Lake, Nathan Eagleton and Jarrod Harbrow leave your club.
Blues to me look like a top 4 side, but 2012 is starting to look like a 'contested possession' year, and I'm not sure Ratten's game-plan contains enough of this. Maybe a mid-season tweaking of the game-plan is what's needed, and I still reckon you guys will be there late September.
The worrying thing about the losses is we are pretty much out of the game by half time.

He was chasing a Crows player out of our forward line, was about 5-7 metres away from him and was likely not going to catch him. However, instead of at least pressuring him he peeled off and went and stood next to a crows player about 20 metres away who was behind the play... Leaving the ball carrier to do what he wanted until Robbo came charging in from 40 odd metres away and actually put some pressure on him.

If we were to replace Ratts at the end of the year - Id look to get lethal out of retirement for one season, or keep ratten and get Lethal to tell our recruitment and fitness staff what to look for, and how to get tough.
We should look to the 23-25 year olds in the seconds for a mature age recruits come the end of the year to get some bigger boys up forward.
Everyone has to hit the gym - except Kruze - he is looks to be plodding and then puffing.
AS far as Ethihad - its a bit rich talking about how carlton lose there all the time, when we are beaten by teams who never play there - we have a serious onus to beat everyone who turns up there, we should know it better than anyone.
If we can't beat teams on our home ground, and claim it as a disadvantage, then the only conclusion is we are not preparing a game plan for the stadium - that simple - and that is unacceptable...

Agree with this. They need to get back to doing the little things right.
One thing I have noticed is out forward 50 entries. Every time we go in its either a long bomb forward or if they actually mark it, a kick into the pocket where it is impossible to get a goal. The players need to lead straight out of the goal square to at least give them a chance of kicking a goal.

The club came out and said they expect a top 4 finish. That's not going to happen so I guess now the real question is, or else what? What are they going to do if we don't finish top 4?
Are they going to go the injury excuse? If they do, then they're cowards. Cowards to face up to the fact that this team as a whole has gone backwards from last year and are starting to resemble the 2010 team.
I watched us against Collingwood, at the MCG, big game supposed to test us to see where we are at. We absolutely belt the crap out of them. We did that because of one major factor - intensity. I've been talking about the last month and how our intensity has been almost non existent since that game.
Now why is that? Why have the players come out flat ever since that game? It really puzzles me. They came out in the media after that win and said stuff like "no big heads" and "we can handle the tag of being premiership favourites because the group has matured" and we're not going to take anyone lightly but their language on the field has spoken the complete opposite.
