I don't understand how a back-line that was Flogged on Monday that was made to look slow and noncompetitive was not tweaked.
I have massive reservations about the depth now if the Coaching panel can not dig up someone who wants to play competitive football.
Do we have any kids that can play or want to play,i can say i was embarrassed to watch some players today it is inexcusable.
In nutshell insipid .

How do we tweak the backline? The cupboard is bare. We have a few injuries and the Northern Blues and their ressies are getting flogged most weeks.

We actually need this current bunch to change their attitudes. We can bring McLean back, Lucas back, give games to players that have no earned it but aside from that ...

Why are our players with 6, 7, 8 years in the system skinnier and less physical than Essendon's and Adelaide's? Carrazzo was one of our few big bodied, genuine hard nuts in the midfield - surely his loss can't even come close to explaining the debacle since round 4?

I'm not sure what's happening. It saddens me to think that our oh so painstakingly crafted game plan has been so easily countered by the opposition.

I don't like changing coaches. It sets you back 2 or 3 years. But questions need to be asked. It's been 4 weeks and we're still being belted in the clearances, an aspect of our game that's been our strength.

I'm not sure how sincere he was but to hear him blame the loss against the Saints and intensity and not something wrong with the way we structure was worrying to say the list.

One more thing: why do we, more than any other top 6-8 team in the competition, seem to rely on our individual talent rather than structure to get us over the line? WC have an injury and somebody stands up and fills that role within the team. Why doesn't it happen at Carlton?

I've been incessently positive for years. Quiet optimism is no longer the order of the day. We are at the stage where we should be challenging for the flag - expectations both external and internal to the club. If we don't make the top 4 this season serious questions need to be asked and Ratten's job as coach assessed.

Careers over as of today but not only because of today:

Brett Ratten
Mark Riley

That experiment is over. Plans for the next regime surely underway. There has always been something not quite right about the Ratten/Riley era. Even when we are winning.
It has always irked me that Ratts' biggest supporters have been the Carlton Groupies and the Carlton Haters. I always had a wry smile last year when known Carlton Haters in the media last year were Ratten's biggest supporters in getting another contract.

Take a bow the likes of Bartlett, Watson, McGuire etc

Nearly every passionate but rational CFC or general AFL supporter i know has always had a questionable(at best) attitude towards Ratts' coaching ability at the pointy end of AFL Footy.

And why are our players all built like marathon runners. They look like Adelaide used to look like under Neil Craig.

Time is up.

Jordan Russell
Bret Thornton
Aaron Joseph
Brock McLean
Nick Duigan
Paul Bower
David Elard

It is all over for these 7 players.

Either too small, too slow, not desperate enough, not good enough - or all of the above.

I won't bother addressing the current problems of our better players. They are largely symptomatic of the other issues.

Obsolete game plan plus injuries plus loss of confidence equals today's crap.

Our list is so much better than this , hurts like hell.

Listening to malthouse breakdown what was going on was sensational, wonder if we could hire him on a consultancy basis.

It is time for one man to stand up next week, and physically decimate a weak Melbourne next week.

ENTER BROCK MCLEAN

Next week opening bounce should be Judd, Robinson, McLean on ball, and just smash in and with the clearance.

Needs to happen.

OUT: Tuohy(been beaten the last 3 games), Russell, Murphy(inj), someone else
IN: McLean, Buckley, Lucas, Waite

Desperate times when we're forced to start McLean on the ground.. Surely he's due for a half decent game in the ones though?

I don't think we create enough spillages in the forward line for our crumbers to make the most of. Our entries in our forward 50 are woeful at times.

Send the rucks forward and see if we can create more problems for the opposition defence by making the attacking entry a danger in the air and if it spills on the floor.

Has anyone else noticed our fadeouts. Weve been hard and competitive for at least the first quarter in most games.

I dont know what everybodies idea of a muscular/built player is, but imo we only have 1 and thats Scotland. the rest are built like 17yr olds. Duigan is solid but puppy fat, Jamo is lean and strong but his body isnt big and Bower is just bird chested and skinny.

They do have a gym at our facilities dont they?

Who's to replace him is the issue?

There was no one ready for AFL (body wise) who deserved a game from the Northeners - loved watching the kids and Hydey though

Give a young bloke a game instead of Russell. Bootsma has better disposal anyway.

Never saw Boots V Giants but there is no way he is physically ready for AFL. Think what happened to that Gutsy little Totevski for the Northerners, playing Buckley and Boots V any AFL team other than the very weak ones would endanger them and our future

Not sure what the fuss is all about. We were 5-3 in 2000 and still finished comfortably in 2nd. Can't see why this year will be any different tbh. Bookmark it

PS was BlueManic red carded for calling a spade a spade? If so

Ellard plays harder than half our blokes and is a goal kicker. Has been better than Betts the past two weeks.

Worth keeping for now.

Kreuzer needs to spend a few weeks as a permanent forward and see how we go with that set up.

Even if he only gets 10 touches and 5 marks he'll probably kick 2-3 goals.

Warnock and Hampson to share ruck duties

time to readjust the goals. focus on trying to make the finals, and getting the basics right... like getting goalside of your opponent at appropriate times. get into the 8 and hope players like carrazzo, murphy are in some sort of form if they return.

forget about this resting the players shit. get them out of the cotton wool and realizing that they have to try all the time from the beginning of the game.

russell has really fallen off the wagon. might be time to move armfield back again.

You're joking aren't you?? We'll be lucky to make 10-12 bookmark this!!
It's alright for those soft ***** they go home go back to training and it starts again. Its us idiot supporters who cop it at work,do our hard earned on bets and lose our voices and dignity at the game!!

We beat Collingwood ,best I've seen them play in 10 years and they decide "Oh well thats it then, how good are we" meanwhile our enemies plot against us big heads and make us look like dick heads.
And the cream on top is that we are now labelled!!!:mad::mad::mad:

omfg please do not call for mclean. Offensive
not sure what alternatives we have and we need to replace murph. Release gibbs is an option but the backline is already struggling esp if duigs is out. Could try sugar in there

Besides Judd, Scotland and Henderson there is not 1 player that is in form.
The big problem with that is all the fringe players that would come in to replace them are injured (White, Casbolt, Davies etc....) and there is no one else in the Northern Blues that is pushing up for selection so we have to persist with players that aren't deserving of a spot in the senior side.

We are weak at MC level. We continue to pick blokes that are out of form. Makes them too comfortable hence they go out and bludge.

Make the big changes next week, especially given our games the next 2 weeks. Shake them up. Just like Ratten did after round 18 in 2010 following that lazy, terrible defeat by the Pies back then.

i said 'focus on trying to make the finals'. i've addressed the very fact that there is some doubt that we will make finals. which seeing as we are still 7th, is a reasonable thing. clearly we're not as good as we hoped earlier in the year.
