How do we tweak the backline? The cupboard is bare. We have a few injuries and the Northern Blues and their ressies are getting flogged most weeks.

We actually need this current bunch to change their attitudes. We can bring McLean back, Lucas back, give games to players that have no earned it but aside from that ...

Well thats my point i am not privy to the Northern Blues if we have no depth then there is no pressure on existing players.

Tonight's game has eradicated most of the positives that I had allowed to enter my thinking about where we are at as a Club and as a team on ground...

These false ideas ( really Hop knocking on Faith's door );have been replaced with the bare hard cold facts and how they have been playing out for us this year.

1. I reckon we have been set -up big time this year by the media ( Unprofessional, naive, and lacking in ruthlessness or smarts from Chairman and Coach but also assistant Coaches and team players)
2. We do not have a list which has any reserve players - therefore we are playing more than half a team short of players versus other top teams we are in fat rapidly depreciating teh physical limits and capability of too few outstanding players)
3. We are getting very poor return on investment in too many players currently playing in the starting22 half of which would not be starting players in any top8 team in the AFL - except Carlton.
4. We are very fragile..

5. Things are going to get darker this year..

Kreuzer needs to spend a few weeks as a permanent forward and see how we go with that set up.

Even if he only gets 10 touches and 5 marks he'll probably kick 2-3 goals.

Warnock is not playing. Kreuze lined up at FF for the bounce today. Play him as a Ruck rover. He can concentrate on getting hard ball - something he can do

How many of our players can win their own ball?
Juddy, Kreuze, Ellard and Scotty (one bounce today he had that role as Juddy and Ellard were both on the bench and his attack on the footy was excellent - he had this role more last year when he had a stellar season)

Funny how we lament the loss of Carrots and yet for years he has been ridiculed by the majority on this board

We are weak at MC level. We continue to pick blokes that are out of form. Makes them too comfortable hence they go out and bludge.

Make the big changes next week, especially given our games the next 2 weeks. Shake them up. Just like Ratten did after round 18 in 2010 following that lazy, terrible defeat by the Pies back then.

I've been calling for an extra tall for several weeks. With Walker in the midfield and Eddie and Jeff struggling, the time to play a more traditional CHF, FF structure has come.

If Waite isn't back next week, we need to play a youngster. Watson or McCarthy.

Watson has now got the body but is not good enough and McCarthy was TERRIBLE - we have no replacements (playing Melbourne we could risk Boots not getting crunched)

Besides Judd, Scotland and Henderson there is not 1 player that is in form.
The big problem with that is all the fringe players that would come in to replace them are injured (White, Casbolt, Davies etc....) and there is no one else in the Northern Blues that is pushing up for selection so we have to persist with players that aren't deserving of a spot in the senior side.

& whose fault is this ? recruiters unable to recruit decent players, coaches unable to coach? or a bit of both ?

It's not that we aren't having a go, we are just too bloody small and lack strength. We were mauled by bigger and stronger teams this week and last week.

Look at it this way. Robinson is one of our bigger and stronger bodies. He wouldn't be in the adelaide team.

What pisses me off is that we have spent the big bucks on a state of the art training facility and we are one of the physically weakest and lightest clubs in the league and we are paying for it.

Time we stopped drafting light body types and it's time our strength and weights coaches started to earn their positions at the club because the condition that our players are in for this game is crap.

We've got a team of running types that get smashed at every contest because they aren't heavy enough and strong enough.

There's no quick fix for this crap.

Have seen him in reserves and AFL - he goes incredibly well - but we need men - not more boys.

Having said that, skinny is not that much of an issue :

We are the softest side in the AFL. Might beat Melbourne because of skill but that is about it. Saints v Dee game in the wet was way more tougher than any game we have been involved in.

Ratten's 3/4 time chat to Tim Watson would hardly inspire confidence in the players or supporters.

What I personally would do if I was Ratts... would be collect up all the newspapers from when they were touting us as premiership favourites and then get all the boys together... and roll up the newspapers and start flogging the shit out of the boys with them.

They seem to be spending more time admiring themselves in the mirror and believing all the hype in the newpapers about us than they are about putting in the hard work and getting the results on the ground.

I think that the players all think that they just need to show up to win matches at the moment and cant be arsed putting in the hard work.

After todays piss weak effort... I would also be including a **** off big iron rod in the middle of the newspapers.

Sorry... todays effort is all down on the players. Ratts was making wholesale changes around the ground when I finally got to see the last quarter and a bit... but the players mindset was 'put the cue in the rack' and we lost it completely at that point.

A couple of players were good... but on the whole... the lot of them needs a ****ing good roast. And I hope that Ratten and Sticks gives them the spray that they deserve behind closed doors.

his dad was tiny when he started too, but had the hard guts to get in a make it. Nahas is tiny but has a red hot go & hasnt been killed. somethings got to be done to find out who wants a place in the team & who doesnt. enough shwed today they dont want it.

Our season is finished.

I cant put my finger on it exactly, but we have lost all our confidence, structures and every bit of competitiveness we had. Gone. Losing Murphy means this is only going to be compounded.

Pathetic Blues. Never been so disappointed.
