also happens to be the last time we won 3 games in a row....
...and I just can't wait until these "how long has it been since we've...." become a thing of the very distant past!
IMO we do not play good football at the dome, although it may straighten us up and we wont play along the wings like we have tended to do at the G a couple of times this year, against richmond in particular.
If we break the game up with our run and carry from half back and through the midfield, it wont matter what Brown and Bradshaw do.
I rate the Lions pretty highly and am hoping it will be a close game, but very wary of a blowout to the LIons.....

I heard Lappin was close but black to miss a few weeks with early OP.
We haven't used Hadley as a tagger all year. Can't see us starting now. What you won't love is Hadley at the bottom of the pack dishing it out to Judd, Murph and Stevens.
Not sure Patful can compete in the air with Fisher, then again not many Fisher's height can, so I wish him well.
Obviously havent seen him play at all.
He couldnt be any more of an ideal match up

Brisbane are surprised how Black has responded after the break and he is now a possible in.
Lappin won't play.
Opposition teams mention this every week. Patfull is very strong in the air.
Not sure how many games you have seen Brisbane play this year going by that comment and by saying Charman is in "great form". He is very lucky he is still in the side. He should have been dropped even though we have 2 rucks on our senior list.

Not sure if you've seen Fish play, but strength has nothing to do with it. It's the combination of his deceptive height, go-go-gadet arms, good vertical leap, superior ability to read the flight of the ball and to top it all off, as the sexy squad never tire of singing:

I think he meant "strong" as in ability, not strong as in muscular.
Fisher is a hard match-up for any sized defender but Patfull plays as an undersized key defender so he has to have some ability overhead. The point to be made is, we actually have a decent match up for Fisher, as much as you can match up on a player like him.
Patful on Fisher will be a very good matchup. Both very similar. Will be a good duel.
I'll keep my eye on that one.
It'll be interesting to see who takes JB. Kicked 11 goals on Waite last time we played...Waite has come a long way defensively since then but will have to really play at his best to have any chance of competing with him.
I say Jamison should be given the job on JB and Bower on Bradshaw.

Black probs will play. Johnston as well. We will NOT beat the lions. We suck at DOME and we have no clear matchup for Bradshaw. To strong for Jamo and Waitey. May have to have a shootout
I thought they were not playing Black because he has early signs of OP.

thinking this is a game we might crash back down to earth again. with cloke thorton and hadley out, leaves too many holes, especially with brisbanes forwards. i can see the only soultion is playing waite as spare man and trying to cut off some J.Brown J bradshaw runs at the ball. also leaves fev double or triple teamed at the other end, which means someone forward will need to stand up again, which very rarely happens. Maybe its time to give gibbs a soild crack at CHF and see how he goes, or even play fev at CHF and another tall option at FF so the forward fifty wont get too crowded. either way i ratten should just try mix things up abit for this game to test Briso out. AT this stage i see it hard for carlton to win unless someone other than fev has a big day out

Tipping Hadley will test ok for this game and very keen to play...
with Fev being targeted (his game style obviously analysed and under closer scrutiny since the Big V match) I think it's a good opportunity to sneak Jakey boy in as a relative unknow..allow Fev to take all the attention and hopefully Fish, Edwards Betts et al can kick enough to get us over the line.
Setanta also to get another game...Any word on Hampson, is he injured? wrist?

Well, with the recent news on Black's surgery, I think that even if they win themselves the ruck contests, there won't be too many decent 'crumb' type players to get the taps, where as we have both Nick Stevens and Chris Judd. I think this will be the key if we are to win the game, either winning the taps, or roving Brisbane's taps.

Last time he played on Brown he couldn't match him on the lead (would go with Brown till about the 50, then let Brown take the mark up around half forward). Brown ended up taking a heap of marks, IIRC. Prefer Waite on him, but unless the other defenders come in to help, Brown will likely kick a bag no matter who's on him.
Going on his form this year, if Carlos played on Brown, Browny would kick 12.
I'm still undecided on matchups but if it were Waite on Brown and Jammo on Bradshaw then we'd really, really need blokes like Bower, Scotland and Browney giving our boys a hand and try to cut off their leads.
