No, on Sunday Doc Larkins (dr smooth) reported that Black was suffering the early on set of OP. He stated that the Lions would be managing him, obviously the week off was going assist. Knowing what Judd went through last year with his OP & abductor tightness, and also Luke Ball, Brisbane will be weary as to not risk Black as it would hamper their whole season should his OP develop.

Additionally in this day and age Black named doesnt always mean he will play... it may just be a tactic to throw out Carlton's planning when in actual fact Brisbane know he will be a late change...

As for the optimism... Black out alone no, but with questions marks over Brown and Johnstone (considering his history of hammys) the game is up for grabs...

your not wrong... the berger was dropped... no where in the article did it say he was rested...

Don't take everything reported by media "experts" as fact...

Umm yeah....

Your suggesting they are parading Doctor Peter Larkins as a Doctor when he isn't?!...

Geez big call...

Did Doc Larkins give Blacky a check-up?

If not, then he is probably only speculating.

considering he is well respected throughout the medical profession and the footballing world I would be betting a great deal he knows all the club doctors personally.

For him to stipulate that it is "early onset of OP" rather than just the general "groin complaint" means he knows something!

If this is Leigh just playing games with selections, we should take it as a good sign.

12 months ago no-one would bother to try and trick us with dodgy selections......there was no need.;)

Ackland has one last chance to become an AFL footballer. A poor game would fail to revive his career (his career ended last year.......he is now in revival mode) and he gives us depth for the season.

Charman hasn't been in the best form according to the Lions posters on here, and Fraser got hold of him a few times on Sat night.
Maybe Ackland and Kreuzer can gives us some first use out of the ruck.:thumbsu:

While I hope Carlton win as much as the next Blues fan, I'm don't quite share the confidence.

The last time Brisbane played they got very close to Geelong at Skilled Stadium (were leading at 3/4 time) and add to that team: Brown, Black, Johnstone, Drummond and Roe.

I tend to be positive about Carlton's chances of winning against the odds, and again this week, I can find many reasons to be positive against the odds, but make no mistake, Carlton will do very well to come away with the four points on Saturday night and Brisbane are a better side than any of the other 3 we have beaten this year.

Carlton by 28 points :D

Ackland. Game over.

With any luck he'll be made stand in the hole in front of Brown and his kidney's will get a working over.

Il NASTY De Gastev :p

.....not that there's anything wrong with nasty....

Yet I would still trust the doctors/physios who have actually treated a player...the ones who have cleared Black to play.

oh dear... are these doctors the same ones that cleared judd to play the 2nd half of last year? what about mick mcguane after the injection and he couldn't kick?

your doctors are of the same opinion of larkins, since his opinions reflect the club doctors analysis... the issue here is doctors have been over ruled by either player or coach... for the sake of blacks health and football career, I hope he doesn't end up like judd did last year, it'll be sad to see another champion of the game decimated while trying to play football!

The issue here is you making up shit and making wide ranging accusations! Also, these aren't the same doctors - I am pretty sure none of the Brisbane Lions Medical staff worked at West Coast last year or at Collingwood in the early 90s. The same "analysis" could be done by saying "all politicians are perverts thanks to Troy Buswell"...

No the issue here is that you've taken one media soundbite and run with it as if its the gospel. Don't be a sheep.

If our people had no regard for Simon's health, he would have played against Geelong.

By all accounts both Judd and Black played with similar injuries through the second half of last year. Both had surgery at the end of the year, resulting in restricted pre-seasons.

Judd is a burst player, his speed is his major asset and so that injury last year really hampered him and he wasn't blowing tags away as per normal. Black on the other hand palys a different way and has never been quick. While obviously struggling with the groin last year, still averaged 18 possies a game and IIRC ripped the ferals a new one at the G after missing the previous game against your mob.

While I don't want to see him worsening his injury, I think if managed properly (say with the odd 3 week break ;)) he'll be right.

Time will tell boys, good luck tonight:thumbsu:
