Petch has good moments but all you want to see from him is a bit of mongrel and desire to put his hand up and he never looks more than 90% committed out there.
Just on Petch - I see no value in him returning to the ones (long injury list excepted) - we've seen what he can do, it ain't enough & the gap between his best and worst is too great.

Malakai or Long for Owies would be my preference

Brockman just isn’t a half forward. He doesn’t run with his nan.
We are the slowest team in the comp.
Most of our players couldn't catch their nan either.

Kyal Horsley (Beagles coach) was on SEN with Gossage and Simmo this morning

Was asked to give one standout from the weekend and gave three albeit one (Williams) was a leading question

Williams he said was starting to find consistency for the full four quarters but had he not been asked about a ruckman by Gossage I don’t think he’d have been mentioned

Unprompted, he said Brock was very good holding Trey Ruscoe to zero possessions in the first half

He then added how much he liked the game of Gross playing more as a forward than midfield especially his ability to make things happen when he got possession

Would like to see Hall, Gross and Grego come in for Owies, Bo and Cole. Send Hough back to defense.
Harley to spend more time in the fwd half.
Shanahan for Arch who regardless of not if injured needs a break I think.
Brock for Gov, think Bazzo needs at least another full game in Wafl.

I know a lot want Kelly out but that is probably one too many mid changes. Remember he was always meant to be the cherry on top when we got him, unfortunately as soon as we did all the ice cream melted.

Too many guys playing out of position for my liking. I know Mini is trying to assess what we got but sometimes it doesn’t pay to reinvent the wheel.

Hutch and Maric are forwards, so let’s play them there. Hough is a backline player, so let’s play him there too. Gross and HR are mid/forwards so that’s where they should be playing too.
Add to that we are playing too many out of form seniors that are killing our forward attacks by ****ing up simple kicks and handballs so that means we waste all our energy chasing the footy or get caught out of position on the rebound.

My team would look something like this:

F: Ryan J Williams Brockman

HF: Hutch Waterman Maric

C: Davis HReid Hunt

HB: Ginbey O Allen Baker

B: Hough Gov Greggo

Followers : AReid Graham Hewett

Interchange: Gross Hall Duggan Shanahan

Sub: Cripps.

Hutch, Brockman and Ryan to play forward but also be able to chop out the mids or wings if needed.

Arch to start the ruck and rotate with J Will as they’re better than Flynn at the moment. Shanahan to go forward while Arch is on the bench and JWill is in the ruck.

Gross, H Reid and Shanahan to play forward when needed to give the forwards a rest. Gross and Harley are primarily mid rotations/players.

Hall to rotate through the guts, Duggan is a utility who’s available to play wing or backline when players need a rotation. Ideally I’d like someone with better skills but with Dewar out of form and Bo Allen likely suspended, I’ve gone with Duggo for this game.

Play the youth with at least one senior player on each line. In the middle, every line up to have a senior player in as much as possible. Baker should rotate through here when Graham, Ryan or Brockman are resting or playing forward.

Back the youth to learn on the job and get the underperforming seniors such as Kelly, Owies, Cole etc to earn their way back into the team through good form in multiple successive games on the WAFL.

Reward the youth that play well in the WAFL with games in the top side wherever possible.

It better be the high half forward we play at the stoppage role

Tom Gross had 17 and 18 disposals against GWS and Carlton, he was then made a sub against the bombers for some fun*king reason and dropped entirely thereafter.

My question is, why the fu*k is a spud like Kelly given midfield priority over a promising youngster like Gross.

Fu*k Kelly off into retirement and leave Gross in the midfield for rest of the year.

I think Gross was managed due to his big collision which concussed McKay .. He got up and played the game out .. But I think he did suffer something that hasn’t been mentioned but enough to begin managing him and lightening his load for a few weeks ..

That's every week.

Mon-Wed: what could've been
Thurs-Fri: I could picture this....
Gameday: Don't get up

Ah yes the young midfielder that has played all their underage football as an onballer being brought into the Eagles side as a half forward trick hey?

Straight from Simmo’s playbook with Partington, Ainsworth, O’Neill, Trew et al.

Gross looked more than accomplished at the CBDs and on ball in general. I’m glad he’s seemingly getting a game but getting the square peg in the round hole treatment sucks for mine.

Make bloody Tim Kelly play the high half forward role and get Gross in at the centre bounce.

"Oh no why do we keep getting belted in clearance? We must fix this by dropping our best mid to sub, dropping him all together, then bringing him back as a half forward"

" He's 18'
" He's 75kg "
" Load Managment "
" Brady Hough into the middle "
" Tim Kelly has to come good eventually"
"Play him at half forward"

In the best two in his past two waffle games just doesn't cut it at the worst team in the comp struggling to find midfielders

Baffling perplexing bewildering and nauseating

Fantastic. As much as our midfield sucks at the moment, at some point, our starting midfield will be something along the lines of Yeo, Reid, Hewett and one of Kelly/Hutchinson/Hough. Trialling Gross at half forward recognises that he is AFL quality but also recognises that Owies/Long/Brockman aren't the answer right now.
