8 pts up with 3 minutes left in the 3rd with all the momentum..concede 2 late goals

then we didnt even manage a point in the last 8+ minutes left in the 4th
we dont know how to win (yet)

It happens

Port about to go 3 goals up v Crows in the 3rd and JHF missed and the Crows went bang bang and were 2 goaks up themselves in a blink of the eye

gotta make most of momentum and McQualter said that in his presser

just a few minutes before the 100m reversal  Harley got pinged for holding the ball. As he layed on the ground the Richmond player who won the free, pushed Harley's back down as he was trying to get up...reversal ??? nope..pretty sure it was the same umpire as well
It’s cooked. Feel bad for him

I'm always right.

Tigers got nothing from the umps but I haven’t seen any team get away with throwing the ball as much as that tigers side did. It was a genuine piss take and something really Important the AFL really needed to crack down on but they turned a blind eye on.
Oh for sure and one thing I've loved this year is us finally embracing the bullshit.

On the weekend there were two in quick succession that absolutely took the piss and the umps didn't gaf.

Sure it's gross, but it's been ten years since the Bulldogs threw their way to a premiership, time to get with it.

its what I meant...we owned Richmond in the 3rd but somehow managed to be outscored

Can anyone explain to me what the free kick against Harley was for when he pushed a Tigers bloke in the side who folded like a cheap lawn chair just after the centre bounce?

Was early in the second quarter I think.

Felt like Ump penalised him for simple being stronger than the other player.

Positives were Ryan, Billiams and Harley (although he still wants to hero ball... Mate get your teammates involved more)...

Negatives were f... In umpires... Sooo poor, Waterman let the side down... Hewett... Mate any chance of getting involved, Duggan meh, and Kelly... Please just go away.

Unfortunately I thought mcqualter coaching was also not very good... Took way too long to activate the sub... And Gross... Although there should have been a block for him... Hit a lead from one of the forwards.. poor awareness

I think experimenting now should stop from the coach... Play the boys in their correct positions... And if they aren't performing... Drop the f out of them

Ok. Have had some time to cool off and think about things.

Positives:
Gross - The balls to come on in the last 15 minutes and just constantly take the game on, Love it. Yes he got caught a couple times but he was there where the ball was when it mattered the most. Given more experience and a full pre-season this kids gonna be a gun.

Hedwards and Brock - Both came in and did a great job. Hedwards is still slow but is at least honest and will give you effort.

Moving Kelly to the HF - YES finally, get him outside, he's never been a pure inside mid and has been crushed having to carry that midfield for years. The fact we did as well as we did without him in there is a blessing moving forward. we can finally focus on a post Yeo, Post Kelly life.

Half-Positives:
Blowies. Kicked 2 FINALLY, but still only 1 Tackle. Better than recent outings but still want him out of the side.

Negatives:
Richmond finished with more points from turnovers (64-29), including 38-10 from forward half intercepts.
Would have won with either Gov or Yeo in the side.
Goal Kicking is back on the training menu. So many easy misses that.

That Brockman moment - FFFFF still gets me mad thinking about it.

The Umpiring - That 50m against Harley for a player dropping the ball was bullshit, It was even more Bullshit when they called the "ran too far" free.

Things to Learn:
Cleaner Skills = Wins.
You can put in the effort when you want to.
Welcome to turn-over city.
We should smash them when they come to perth.

Hope the saints like pain because this side will be coming out PISSED OFF.

King hurn was 184 and rarely lost an aerial battle.
shep 185ish.
It's the 3rd man up and no influence from maric that costs us at times

In fairness Hurn was also about 184kg and had played on the HBF his whole career, including pre-drafting.

Shep (who was 189cm) was 23-24 before he properly nailed down that position, was looking like a bust at Maric's age and only really started looking like a keeper in 2014, his fifth season in the AFL (2027 for Maric on the same timeframe).

Maric is playing a role still quite new to him, in the backline of the worst team in the league (who unlike Hurn/Sheppard's best years doesn't have a pack of organised interceptors and a break-even midfield around him). Averaging 420m gained (with kickouts admittedly but still top for us this year), hasn't gone into his shell with the offensive stuff, is continuing to play positively while his captain hack kicks it and makes his teammates look worse.

Agreed he hasn't nailed the 3rd man up wins or the contested aerial work just yet but not stressed about that in the slightest, think in 2 years he'll be stronger, more used to the position, hopefully in a less shit team and all those things will combine to mean it's not an issue.

Hardly saw Bunga lose many contests with bug forwards in 1v1 contests till the back end of his career. Once he planted them feet in the ground it was hard to move him. We were quite blessed with key backs then but in that era he could have made a very handy undersized key back too.

Maric doesn’t have to be a key tall but he needs to get stronger in the contest and get that dawg in him where he hates losing a contest. Hopefully it improves with experience and as he physically develops. I do believe the next part of his game thats needed is his intercepting ability. Would make him such a weapon down back especially when he tidies up his kicking and decision making

After that game in particular but also from what we have seen pretty much all year the coaches need to get all the players together sit them down and tell them,
Right we have seen and know that when we play we are pretty much playing against 3 extra players.
Don't give the umpires ANYTHING to give them an excuse to blow the whistle because they will.
When we have a free kick or shot on goal TAKE IT DON'T Be A DICK.
Don't point, Don't throw your arms up, Don't whinge just get on with it.
Give them nothing, no excuse, no reason NOTHING. Play the ball, win the ball, win the game.
They are corrupt and will not be held to account so give them nothing.

Harder said that done.
Doesn't help no Aussie based podcast had even one mention of it

Just compare the pair (of legs)

Hate to say it, but Harley was in second gear and really missed a golden opportunity to block for him. Graham did too.

If you go re-watch the footage it’s not the best look.

Good point. A learning for the team.

Similar to the North/Lions draw in that last passage - a shepherd and score instead of the pass to Larkey would have got the job done.

Young sides I guess but no excuse for Graham given his experience.

I guess that would make him the heaviest AFL player ever? 😜
