Young is going ok. He's not barrass or McGovern clearly.

This is on the coaching staff though as he is all we have right now.

Why not bring in bazzo and have ginbey a loose in defence.
His running power and intercept marking would be almost impossible to cover and they would have to counter it.

There are so many ways to counter weaknesses in a team but the coaches have to be inventive throughout a game and not just set and forget.
Bazzo has had time to build a bit of a fitness base and needs at be given at least a three game run at it, so we can decide if whether he's Rhett the Jet or just another bust.

It's an absolute must to get Ginbey off the big key fwds and playing on Van Rooyen would be setting us up for failure.

Lose 35% by putting a Bazzo etc in as a key back and gain 55% by allowing Ginbey to monster a Bayley Fritsch/Pickett and free him up to come up the ground and bring more physical pressure at the high 50m mark.

Demons are generating most of their goals from the midline and we need pace, pace and more pace to counter this.

Unfortunately that well looks dryer than a you know what, so maybe Dewar starts on the wing as defensive runner on Sharp given Davis whilst having started great, looks tired and little battered.

Nothing is better than having a pair of Double D's to play with, so moving Davis to the bench for Dewar to partner Durs on the other wing doesn't change this.

Bring Bo back and hopefully with Gawn rested and our awesome foursome of Harley, Yeo, Kelly and the big bad bustling Bailey (yeah I know, this even gives poetic licence a kicking) can get it done.

I have gutter cleaning scheduled at game time this week, so please let me know how it goes.

Whilst he may not have had the best game in the WAFL I think we need Allan back in on the weekend. Runners we need Runners. Melbourne like to run a lot and fast.

Will alos be helpful if some of our players we rely on offensively could add some 2 way running into their game this weekend.

OUT: Cole, Schoenberg, Champion
IN: Allan, Hutchinson, Bazzo

They may rest CDT for Flynn

Gross stiff to miss out based on form but he isn't a runner so think he could get exposed terribly in this game.

Doesn't sound ike Edwards is ready yet.

Nobody else doing enough at WAFL level by the sounds to justify selection.

Gross has to be an in surely.
Another inside mid to give our mids a chop out and he has pace

Occasionally, some players look better the next level up. I think Grego could be that guy. Give him a run.

In the solitary game he played against top of the table team Sydney lat year Grego had:

14 Disposals, 6 contested, 5 marks (2 contested), 5 intercepts, 5 rebound 50's, 235 metres gained and 59 ranking points.

Tom Cole on the weekend against a hapless Richmond team had:

7 Disposals, 2 contested, 5 marks, 0 tackles, 2 intercepts, 0 rebound 50's, 14 metres gained and 24 ranking points.

I'll point out that was also Grego's debut game as an 18yr old, compared to premiership player Tom Cole who's 29.

Cole is also out of contract this year, which will likely be his last, whilst Grego still has next season at a minimum. Under no circumstances should Cole be getting games ahead of Grego at this point.

The fact McQualter seemingly needs this spoon fed to him is damning IMO 🥣

Doubt Edwards playing this week, destined for a week or two in Wafl. But damn could use him this week. Backline needs attention (a tall) asap - Bazzo at least.
Moving Yeo to the backline is robbing Peter to pay Paul. Our midfield is lacking defensive mids already. Scott Watters said it was barely a B midfield.
Reluctantly leaving Duggan in, and Hewett in, and maybe rotate him through the mid with Gross.
Gross's performance justifies a recall, hopefully up to AFL speed by now and doesn't get caught out.

B - Hough Ginbey Duggan
HB - MCarthy Young Maric
C - Duursma Reid Davis
R - BWilliams Kelly Yeo
HF - Hewett ShanHan Baker
F - Murdock Snake Champion
INT - Gross, Owies, CDT, Bazzo, Lindsay

Davis in, I thought he was struggling, but he certainlky kept working hard. I hope he continues to develop.

Jack Williams kicked 3 goals and had 18 possessions. IMHO, he should be given a proper crack at it.

I know it's not a popular idea, but I'd consider player Shanahan in defence and give Jack Williams an extended run as a key forward. Two years ago, he was seen as a promising prospect, but somehow fell out of favour against Archer Reid. He needs to be tested as a key forward for at least a solid run of games.

Shanahan on the other hand, looks legit no matter where he plays. Spending a few games playing defence isn't going to hurt his development -- in fact it might help.

The latest update is

Jack Williams - 18 possessions 6 marks 3.0 - Why bother
Jed Walter - 12 possessions 3 marks 1.1 - Lets give up a first rounder. Guy is a jet

Make it make sense people...

Give Jack a proper go

All for the go but ones is quick and powerful, the other is a lumbering type.

One is at our club and doing all he can, the other is in the VFL putting in poorer performances.

Its a pretty bad state of affairs when Bazzo/JWill are knocking on the door and being held out by people who simply are not performing and getting games due to bias

One may be a third tall replacement wor Waterman on retirement. The other sits behind three younger prospects of higher quality. It gets down to need.

This is exactly how you screw up the development of a young key forward by throwing him back while he's still learning the craft at afl level. Instead of just giving bazzo an opportunity as a key back.

I need to keep banging on about the point

What’s the point of yoyoing Malakai Champion in and out of the senior side - is he better served staying in the WAFL side and building consistency or do we persist - he showed a few nice things last week without having a lot to work with. This is a nasty game for him to play in. I think he’ll do very little, but I’d leave him in.

We need Edwards back and we need to fill the shoes of Graham and Robertson. Severely lacking size in the backline and defensive pressure in the middle of the ground, Bazzo just gets shoved around on big defenders he’s not any better than Brock or Young. I thought it was a mistake dropping Allan last week he’s been good for us imo this season and we really need one of Hutchinson or Hall to come in and try to be that defensive midfielder. Hewett needs to go get some touches in the 2’s he can’t get near it atm.

In - Edwards, Allan, Hutchinson

Out - Cole, Hewett, Schoenberg

He has to break through the ginger ceiling. It's always an uphill battle for these guys.

I think he can do it though.
