Anyone think I'm crazy for putting the VC on Treloar today? If the pies are anywhere close to their best they should tear the hawks a new one tonight.
Absolutely not crazy .....i was going to put the (c) on Treloar if Danger hadn't done what he did ......fresh from a week off, on the large MCG, and against a slow Hawthorn midfield .....only proviso would be the weather, which may dent his speed across the ground

if its wet treloar is a far better option - see anzac day SC scoring

So let me think about this. If one made 160k picking 500k players at the start of the season in absence of Dangerfield, but picked him up this week or next week. They would have an extra 320k in the bank. Its not as if Dangerfield has been Captain material until tonight.
Understand what you are getting at. However for me it's a simple equation. If you think a midfielder is likely to be in the top 3 for their position at the end of the year you should just pick them from the start and be done with it. Granted this has not been a normal year in SC terms, but I'm still comfortable with my decision to have him from the start. Only reason he's been down the last few weeks is because he's been playing injured. That can happen to anyone.

This !! .....but also when selecting your side, you need to include 3-4 Captain options, which is where you can make significant gains / wins each week

Correct. The game at its essence is about getting your team as a whole to a level, the only way you can do that is to pick players low $ and make money from them. However, there are a limited number of trades, so the idea is to maximise the trading up and down around a select group of players, and minimise the number of players that need to be traded. Essentially this is the Premo/Rookie strategy. And it's been shown that it is far preferable to the mid priced madness strategy, as ultimately most of those mid pricers are not good enough to be in the final team (if you're going well) so you've got more trades to make than you ordinarily would.

Only the muppets in here will claim that not starting with Dangerfield was a smart move.

Sure, we all take risks and we have to try fit as many good players as we can inside the cap, but based on form last year and his untaggable game and the number 1 scorer from last year AND in his prime, Danger was a no brainer. Not to mention the best captain choice week in week out (derailed by injury).

I do see it from both sides. I avoided Gawn at the start, and prior to his injury, I reckon I won out on that, because I saved 250k at least, of which I am averaging 97, and used that extra cash to smash out an extra premo mid.

So, you going to put the (vc) on Treloar ? ......i prefer him today over Pendles, who IMO still won't have his mind on the job
Leaning towards it yeah. It's either him or Laird, then tomorrow I have a choice between Doc, Goldy (assuming I trade him in) and Neale if the VC choice doesn't work. In spite of Melbourne winning last week Jacobs had a field day against them, and the week before even Mcevoy had a good game. Goldy averaging 140+ in his last three against the dees.

poido Do you thing Fox will play again, or should I burn him and risk Hugh Greenwood to at least avoid a 3rd donut this week.

Its a risky move if Fox comes back in and Greenwood out. I can't think of anyone I can bring in

Lairdy is a consistent ton, but rarely goes big, and not against Brisbane

Goldy against no Melb rucks could be good, but wasn't there a fitness concern expressed yesterday?

I think he will play again, IF injury hits a few players. If you can get him out, I would do it.

I'm intrigued by Greenwood, but I'd wait another round til he hits the bubble. However Adelaide's bye comes after his third game, so he might not be able to make the quick dollars that you want. You need to see how he goes under AFL footy.

Lloyd might be the better option and just hope that he lasts through to GWS bye.

FWIW if you are a glass half full person: Pendles only had two games under 100 in 2014, and 4 games in 2015 and 2016. He's already had four this year. That might be all????

I have a sneaking suspicion he wasn't sleeping properly and stressing the f.ck out with the baby on the way.

I'd say we will see the normal Pendles back this week.

Could be wrong.
