I really didn't think Post provided much. Was basically gifted a game after not dominating in the 2nds, didn't earn his spot. Miller in for him unless he goes back to cover Grimes.

As for 'he's only 20, he's young'...thats fine, some players take longer than others. But let him have a couple of great games at Coburg before selecting him?

Tackles stat can be exaggerated by our flooding the ball in the 1st...but yes, its a testament to our hunger. Disposal efficicency again great to see. I think a few players had poor games and should be dropped accordingly. Post provided less than half of what Miller has.

I have said it before , Post to have a chance needs to develop his legs, Beef up his thighs and calves. When he kicked out of bounds on the full it just highlighted his lack of relative balance and strength through the core and his lower body needs to improve considerably like Mcguane!

Gourdis, Miller or Astbury to come in ore more than one.

I think Astbury has to replace Post, he can play back and forward, Post is just lost. Miller will give us another big body up forward. Hellbig back out or Farmer?

What is the go with Moore and Thirsty, how long for those two?

Browne killed it, bigger body. Got lots of it and only had a few minor mistakes. Needs to just get back from the mark and hit the hand pass fast, twice he made poor errors but that was it really. They were both costly but to me he was one of the best last night. Well done Browney

Positives:
- Great effort for 4 quarters
- Rance, Grimes and Mcguane
- Our movement by hand to punch through the zone
-Our guns..Lids Cotch Martin Newy

Negatives:
- Clearences..we were smashed

Changes:
Out: Grimes, Helbig
In: Astbury, White

Re: Changes next week

Positives:
- We didn't get jumped in the first quarter, in fact I think we won our first 1 for the year.
- We laid 83 tackles for the night, we need to continue with that sort of intensity.
- Our KPD stood up after being exposed a little last week.
- Nahas stodd up to a heavy tag and was able to still contribute.
- Jack was pretty well held again yet we still kicked 16 goals again.
- When threatened in the last quarter we stood up to it, in previous years we would have folded.
- Deledio spent most of the game in the midfield. Drifted to the backline when needed to give them a chop out as well. Exactly what we need him to do.
- Vickery taking another big step forward.
- Our disposal efficiency was 76% despite the high pressure, good sign for the future when we're playing finals, that the skills don't seem to drop off.

Negatives:
- Browne won 24 hitouts and we won 39 for the game but we lost the clearances 28-54, despite having arguably our best clearance players in the middle all game. Can't blame Graham for it this week so there must be something wrong at ground level.
- As good as the win was, the Bombers were missing a few key players and personally I would like to see us beat them again when they are closer to full strength. Still going to enjoy the win because of the way we won.

Changes:
Out: Grimes
In: Astbury

Don't see the need to make wholesale changes. As for Post played a similar role to what Miller would have played. Had 12 disposals 5 marks(2 contested) & 5 hitouts. While Miller has been good, Post gives us more flexibility in that he can take a turn in the ruck and still contribute up forward.
This. Depending on who plays better out of Astbury/Gourdis. Give Post time to settle.

Re: Changes next week

Out- Grimes
In - Miller.

Miller will be straight back in. Jack said on Game day this morning, the reason he played further up the ground was to cover Millers role bringing a tall defender out of the forward 50. So i would say its a safe bet, if Miller does come in, then it will be an endorsement by the club that he isnt just a filler waiting for the development of others but a key player in our structure.

Re: Changes next week

just had another look at the game and have had a rethink on grigg. Apart from the deliberate thing, he wasn't that bad, but helbig was well beaten. I'd like to persevere with Post. So I'd bring in Miller for Grimes and Webberly for Helbig.

Re: Changes next week

Only one change:
Out: Grimes
In: Astbury
Maybe change the sub to give Farmer a run and have Helbig come in late in the game when it slows down a bit...

McGuane lucky that all our defenders are injured at the moment. IMO he has been surpassed by Rance and Grimes is catching him...

Post needs to be persevered with, he needs a good run of about 6 games. He is much more comfortable down back. People are forgetting this is a developement year and everything is not about winning, as yet. No shortcuts! I am siliently confident he will have a breakout game and just like Jack did. Post = New Richo

We need to keep rotating the list through the seniors to get an idea of who stays and who goes at the end of the year. Keep trying players until we find the winning combination.

Re: Changes next week

Are you sure. No Miller? He was only out with a virus and will be raring to go.

As much as I want Miller to come back in, I think it will hurt Post to drop him after one game. He needs 4-5 in a row to settle and get some confidence that he belongs.

If they can figure out a way to have them all in, I would favour that. Don't think Post should be played as a defender though.

And unless we go backwards at a rate of knots, we should have no problem accounting for Port. So no need to rush Miller back.

miller is not the replacement for grimes id say astbury or goudis is but if miller does come bac it will b at the expense of post and i dont like that because we would hav to ruck vickory toomuch he is more value forward.i thought our fowardline functioned very well without miller the same with our ruck division of browne post and vickory so no miller for me this week at least.

Its not about rushing anyone or going backwards, but developing our best "team" and Miller is essential in that team. The day he is dropped for poor form or another like Post and/or big Griff demands selection we will be much the better for it, but that might not even be until next year. To much focus is still placed on developing the players that arnt in the team at the moment, but we just cant chop and change for the sake of it. Developing the "team" is more important now as we have the basic core already in our best 22.

Re: Changes next week

Positives:

Defence- Was very poor agianst the dogs but our defence was great and keep to below 100 who are normaly a high scoring team
More improvement from the likes of Rance, Browne, Vickery, Nahas, King and Conca
Deledio In getting more Midfield time and starting to take that next step to become one of the leagues best.
Cotchin = Superstar plain and simple same with Martin.
Daniel Jackson, Kept Stanton to 16 touches even though he only got 10 he still had 10 tackles which is a great effort.
Won the first quarter!

Negatives:

None really still a few silly errors here and there but nothing major.
Grimes injury starting to become a faviourite of mine and a really good player.
Contest footy and clearances what has happened? We were really good last year one of our strenghs now its really down.

Changes:

In: Tom Hislop, Dylan Grimes (inj), Jerome Webberly Or White if fit
Out: Shane Tuck, Brad Miller, Brad Helbig

Dont want to make to many changes after a win but maybe Hislop on for Tuck to help with clearances sadly Grimes is out bring Miller in and send Post back. Webberly should get a game in the bests agian for Coburg.

Re: Changes next week

Positives:
* We won the first quarter.
* We played out the entire game.

Negatives:
* We always seem to allow the opposition to score a quick goal after we score one. If we could stop 50% of those it would go a long way to us winning more games.

Out: Grimes, Helbig, Farmer
In: Miller, Webberly, White

Move Post to CHB.

Re: Changes next week

Positives:
• Won the clearances in the first quarter
• Won the 1st quarter by a point -.-
• Everyone had at least one tackle, except for Grigg...
• Vickery going perfectly
• Rance rebound from last week's game
• Browne having a solid game in his first game back, apart from a few crucial mistakes
• Newman finally having some presence with 27 disposals
• Deledio roaming around the ground amassing 34 disposals

Negatives:
• Grigg's first quarter, he was lucky they didn't make the most of their opportunities
• Helbig died after half time, maybe even after quarter time
• Nahas taking 3 quarters to finally contribute
• We got smashed in the clearances after the first quarter
• Lost the contested possession count, when i was sure that we were winning in that area

Changes:
In: Webberley, Miller,Hislop
Out: Helbig, Grimes (hamstring), Farmer

Post is the future, Miller is not. Can it be any clearer?

Yes, this statement can be broken down in many ways.

Firstly, I don't see Miller as being in Post's spot. I see him in Griffo's spot, or any other KPF who actually earns it.

Secondly, Post may very well not be the future. If he is, I'd like to see him get games after weeks of good form in the VFL, and not gifted runs where he can hack it up a bit.

Grigg needs to go.

Didn't register ONE tackle on the weekend.

Has had ONE tackle in the past 4 matches, that's disgraceful.

Jackson had 10 in the Essendon game.

Some of his disposal errors were worthy of their own blooper reel.

Cost us a goal due to his inept decision making (although the umpire call was not the greatest)

Not good enough, I will be pissed if Grigg isn't dropped and Webberely given a chance after he's killed it for weeks in the 2's.

On the other hand, Big Vic is a star!!

He will be an imposing figure one day, he just towers over people, its brilliant.

Jacks been quiet the last 4-5 weeks, but he's brought others into the game and is still kicking 4-5 goals a match, great stuff!

Cotchin reminds me of Gary Ablett Jr. with the way he moves, his agility is breathtaking.

Browne did VERY well to hold his own against Essendon's imposing ruck division. He deserves to play the rest of the season, even if he is going to get shitter. He is 20 and we need a solid ruckman and I don't see that with Graham.

King, Nahas, Grimes and Rance all take a bow!! Brilliant performances, does Grimes remind anyone of a young Fletch?

Best part of it all, the Essenflogs have shut the **** up for the time being, the trolls have been hit with a don't argue.

agree with all that. Grigg was diabolical, lost all his confidence and from there was a scared non-contributor.

ironically, i bumped into andy collins at half time, had a chat to him and told him id prefer him to Grigg based on that abissmal showing!

i think last night was a game where our guns really stood up but we still had many passangers, hence wholesale changes are required.

Out: Tuck, Grigg, Post, Grimes

In: Astbury, Miller, Webberley, White

Grigg gets another crack at it as he's a future player, had a great start to the season and we had a win. One more poor game though and you'd suspect he'll have a spell.

Other than that and talking down Angus Graham, CNB hit many nails on the head.

There are so so many Richmond players that get me excited. Bias aside, Cotchin, Martin, Vickery, Rance, Grimes, Nahas...they're just coming right along to be members of a finals side!
