I'm just gona lay my team down and if anyone can give me some ideas to potential changes, that would be great as I'm pretty stuck with what to do:

Backline: Goddard, Gilbert, Newman, Gilbee, Adcock, Pettered, Cheney (Rance, Boughton)

Midfield: Corey, Selwood, Mitchell, Goodes, KSimpson, Rich (Zaharakis, Ward)

Rucks: McIntosh, PJohnson (Spencer, Currie)

Forwards: Davey, Chapman, Deledio, JBrown, Petrie, Higgins, Ziebell (MBrown, Sidebottom)

I have 12 trades left / $10,000 saved

This week i'm definately going to trade Petted >> Grimes, though keen let off Adcock in a future trade, and possibly upgrade Rich to Judd. I really duno if theres anything else I should consider first???

I'd wait a few weeks to see if Abblets price falls and pick him up sub 700k

I would say do the Grimes trade and leave it at that

Your team is pretty good. You have playing emergencies. Use the money from Petterd to Grimes as your upgrade fund for Rich. You could even get Cooney or Power in for Rich this week if you had to

Gees and I thought I had problems in my backline with a lineup of Fisher, Goddard, Cornes, Gilbee, Hill, Petrenko, Broughton (Rance, Houlihan)

Fix that backline up ASAP mate, its your no.1 priority I reckon! :thumbsu:

I'm turfing out Hill and Houlihan for Grimes and Newman this week so I don't have to give my opponent a 90 + head start by playing Spudrenko on the ground! LOL! :p

God I hate that $#U$U$*$ :mad::thumbsdown:

Every year you have one or two players on your bench that spud it up and just are worth using a trade for... Hello Spudrenko!

Considering I have Broughton, Hurley and Rance down back I think that Spuddy will be seeing the season out on the pine

This is whats getting me this week:

Trading Suban to Broughton (providing Broughton is picked)

Leaves me with 219K

My dilemma is if Houlihan doesn't play

I could then upgrade Houlihan to Waite, leaving me with a backline of:

Goddard
Fisher
Chornes
Drummond
Adcock
Waite
Lockyer
(Cheney)
(Broughton)

Which is pretty gunnish (with the exception of Adcock)

My midfield is slightly less gun filled

got Kornes letting me down
Cogs (playing well for his price, but hasn't pulled a monster yet)
Otten (upgrade)
Rich (upgrade)
NDS
Judd
(Beams)
(Robinson)

If i were to say do the Suban to Broughton and then trade Houlihan to Grimes it would leave me with 400K, which in turn would leave me enough moola to upgrade both Rich and Otten next week to premiums, leaving me with Kornes stinking up the joint

Question is do i leave Kornes seeing as i paid 500K for him at the start, or bite the bullett and upgrade him seeing as my 2 rookies are averaging just as much, but only cost me 130K?

I reckon if Houlihan plays, i will have to miss the Grimes train and hope it slows down, so i could just do my Suban trade, then Kornes/ Rich to premium this week, leaving me with 10 trades

any thoughts?

I bet you Spudrenko survives the chop this week, just have a feeling.

Seriously if he was a cat then he would have used up all his lifes now. :p

I reckon he is the David Copperfield of the AFL. Woosh, you think he's gone but suddenly he appears under a puff of smoke saying "you just try and drop me, I dare you!"

Must have blackmail photos of Neil Craig or something!

LMFAO! :p

I have Kornes and regret badly not picking Gibbs instead at the start (same price). I got sucked in by local talk about how big a year he was going to have.

So I have shifted him into the same boat as a Rich - someone to upgrade to a proper gun. I am going to use him to get Ablett back and keep Rich a bit longer.

I actually want him to miss this week so the price difference to Ablett drops to $200-$250K. Having said that, if he fires up in the next 2 weeks I might be able to reconsider him as a keeper, but he will never be a premium again in my eyes :D

Major disappointment so far

If only we had a crystal ball :(

I would have had Gilbert instead of Adcock and Gibbs instead of Kornes

I hope he misses too, at least if he comes back, he might be better off (shoulder not as sore) I may have to hold onto him though. If i had 15 trades, i would ditch him without a second thought, but i don't.

I just cant afford 30's or 40's

If someone told me he would score between 85-95 each week, i would keep him without fail

But i guess if you look at it like this, it might restore some faith:

He has played 8 games

2 x over 110
3 x over 90
2 x 60-70
1 x 30

Only the 3 lowest scores have been in the last 5 weeks, so maybe its fresh in our minds. I may have just talked into holding onto him and if he continues to spud it up, trade him in 6 weeks time (trades provided)

Bit rattled at the moment!

I'm ranked 144th at the moment and don't want to slide, but I don't know what to do with Hodge!

My backline is currently: Goddard, Drummond, Sam Fisher, Cornes, Gilbee, Cheney, Broughton (Hodge, Petrenko)

Midfield: Davis, Judd, Selwood, Gibbs, Rich, Otten (Beams, Anthony)

Forwards: Riewoldt, Pavlich, Deledio, Franklin, Higgins, Krakouer, Nahas (Mitch Brown, Taylor Walker)

I want to bring back in Ablett next week or in 2 weeks (depending on his score this week) and I have two ways I'm thinking of doing it, one involves trading hodge one involves keeping hodge!

Option 1:

Hodge > Grimes
Krakouer > Steve Johnson

Then

Otten > Ablett

Option 2:

Krakouer > Sidebottom

Then

Otten > Ablett

I currently have 14 trades left so not too sure if I want to blow a trade on Hodge! Advice on this one would be greatly appreciated!

NB: or I could even trade out Krakouer and Hodge to Sidebottom and Grimes, giving me a truckload of cash to get Ablett and then upgrade another cow to anyone I wanted pretty much! hmmm!

Have you considered Newman. 48K cheaper but was 10K more expensive at the start of the season. Averaged 100 last year with only 1 score below 70 and 9 above 120, his top score this year is 115 so hopefully a big game is around the corner.

Classic Judd Magic right there! :D:thumbsu:

Thoughts on this with $140k in the bank for downgrading to Grimes last week i've also got 13 trades left.

Petrenko > Broughton

lets me upgrade one of the following.

Hill > Goddard/Drummond/Gilbert/Waite

Which would leave my backline: Lockyer, C.Cornes, Gilbee, Mackie, Grimes, Broughton, ???

or

Coughlan > Del Santo/Montanga/Bartel/Murphy/Corey

Which would leave my midfield: Judd, Pendelbury, Selwood, Ablett, Rich, ???

or

Ziebell > Davey/Stokes/Tredrea/Chapman/Goodwin/Aker

Which would leave my forward line: Pavlich, S.Johnson, L.Davis, Deledio, Higgins, McGlynn, ???

i'd go hodge > grimes. grab hodge later when he is in better form and cheaper.
then
beams or brown > sidebottom. their prices have peaked.

then go otten to ablett when otten has peaked and ablett is cheaper. now your mids are set, bring hodge in later and your team is set.

then
beams or a non-starting forward > sidebottom. beams price has peaked.

The only way that Beams' price has peaked is if he gets dropped. He should clearly be avging 65-75 based on previous output which would easily get him up to 300k (70k more than he is worth now)

I think the only trade for me this week will be Petrenko >>> Grimes.

However....I do have an elaborate trade scheme boiling away, which would entail:

OUT: Hoops (if not named) & Adcock
IN: Grimes & Drummond

Backline would then read:

Goddard, Fisher, Drummond, Chornes, Newman, Grimes, Broughton (Petrenko & Rance)

Will be the same backline as mine mate except I have Gilbee instead of Drummond. :D

I'm wondering if I will go Houlihan > Drummond or Newman? Probably Newman as he is cheaper and I still don't trust Drummonds hammys. I will also have $98,000 left over after doing the Hill > Grimes downgrade if I then go Houlihan > Newman.

If Houlihan is named then I will keep him and go Krakeour > Okeefe. :thumbsu:

Thanks mate, glad you got a kick out of that one. :p

Got your PM too!

Sorry haven't had time to reply back to it yet but will today sometime. Been receiving lots of "Dear Judd_Magic, please help me with my team as its stuffed pm's" from noobs out there which I don't mind helping. LOL! I will have to start hiring a secretary soon! HeeHee! :D:thumbsu:

looking to do a double trade to get buddy in need to trade suban for someone already have broughton so whos the next best choice.
Is levi gonna play anymore games, is there a 1st year going to be blooded soon?

and is having 9 trades left after this week a little risky. Once the buddy trade is done im pretty much set unless for injures

Yeah tough call on Drummond/Newman....I myself am doing everything I can to get Drum-dog into my team, but it looks like I'll have to wait for Groughton & Grimes (who i'll most likely bring in this week) to mature price-wise, and Drummo to dip a little (he has to surely ). Made a bit of blunder with last week's trades by bringing in Newman, instead of Drummond, for Hodge (mistake in that there was a high chance Newman would be cheaper to buy this week). Not quite as bad as your Henschel/Walker mishap JM, but still annoying when you've planned for a week then, for whatever reason, trade out the wrong bloke.

To offer an opinion on your defender dilemma, I'd be inclined to grab Newman while he's at his cheapest ($480k). The guy averaged approx 115 last year, and the tiges are finally starting to look alright. Both Newman & Drummond don't need a ton of possessions to register a good SC score. I guess the only advantage Newman has over Drummond (price aside), is his lesser likelihood to sustain injury. However, the claims that Drummond had a top pre-season, and employed a 'running coach' to decrease his chances for quad/hamstring injury, seem to be validated, in the fact that he's played 8 consecutive games. And any bloke averaging over 110 has to be looked at.

Newman for me. Your Krak >>> ROK 'back-up' trade also looks 'delicious' :D

Thanks mate, glad you got a kick out of that one. :p

Yeah mate no probs. In no hurry for a response. I'm happy with where my side's at (would love an extra trade of two....[or 8]), and was more after an opinion than any real ground-breaking solutions. Whenever you get around to it, that will be fine :thumbsu:. I'm no expert, but feel free to send anything my way if you want another opinion.

Should i trade Haselby or Rich for Gazza Jnr this week?

I luckily enough still have GAJ, however if I didnt, I certainly wouldnt be picking him up this week. Three main reasons being;

- He is returning from injury against and may be kept in cotton wool if the result is obvious towards the end, or even kept out of the midfield and eased back in up forward.
- If he does play in the guts, the Bulldogs will probably have Picken sit on him all game
- He has a B/E of 217 this week, and is carrying a 91 from the game before, so will surely drop a bucketload this week and possibly next

However in saying that, I have had him from the start and am glad I dont have to worry about getting him in! :D

Rich may have plateaued (excuse the spelling?) at the moment, however the kid is a gun and wont make any massive nosedives in price. He is supported by a gun midfield, which gives me the feeling that if you take the punt, he could easily develop into a 400k mid not long after the break.

I think Haselby is about where he will stay from now on. Can score you anywhere from 50-150, but will not become a premium who scores 100+ week in week out.

Thats my 2 bob anyhoo...

Geez Im hoping Petrenko gets dropped this week! Cant generate enough cash for the trades I want with a straight swap of him to Grimes, so at least if he doenst play he wont cost me anymore when it comes to downgrading him to the next $94k rookie comes along in the coming weeks. Am going:

Hill -> Newman
Rance -> Grimes

Which will leave me with a (fit) backline of:
Goddard, Fisher, Chornes, Newman, Gilbee, Hodge, Grimes (Broughton, Petrenko)

Never thought I would be asking this, but is anyone else considering not getting rid of him and hoping he gets dropped?

J Petrenko > J Grimes
S Hill > S Fisher

This is the way I will be going this week in terms of trades, will sure up my backline that in previous weeks has been the weakest part of my team with the first year players letting me down. As a bonus after this trade I'll still have $120,000 odd in the kitty for later on.
