Full assessment of team.
Chaplin - Awesome.
Rance - Tried hard all game and was good.
Batchelor - Won in contests, and was better than most.
Morris - was reasonably good.
Houli - was a victim of the shit gameplan.
Newman - was outstanding and should still be captain.
Grigg - needs to go to mt buller he is ****ing the most useless player i have seen
Jackson - tries hard played alright but still a bit shit.
Vlastuin - was outstanding worked as hard as anyone.
Cotchin - I'd expect more from the captain and bloke who finished second in the brownlow. He is about 1/10 as good as he was last year.
Deledio - Doesn't belong in the midfield and can't handle a tag even if it is a soft tag.
Martin - I often don't know if it is Martin or the coach he probably should spend more time in the middle but not his best game.
Edwards - If only he could just handball. can't kick well and makes poor decisions when kicking.
Lonergan - Wasn't bad but just shouldn't be good enough to get a game definitely not in the same league as most players on the field. I'll give him a chance though just incase.
Foley - was his best game back but we need a lot more from him hopefully he still has it.
Maric - didn't win much but it has been the same story all year. Stephenson looks better in the ruck but both are not going to take us to a flag and it is a serious concern.
Vickery - I've never seen a bigger pussy his size. He has all the skills but lacks any attack.
McGuane - Hard to give him a bad rap because we barely got it in there. He wasn't that great but he brings the ball to ground and tries hard just wish Jack was more like him.
Riewoldt - Not the best but not enough opportunity. He needs to do more off the ball like his cousin that would make him a complete player.
King - didn't have enough impact but lacked opportunities also.
Nahas - tried but doesn't function in the same team as King because there is only room for one.
White - gave a spark of pace but really is shit and his disposal and decision making showed as much.

Hardwick - Completely disappointed and don't believe he is capable of a Premiership winning gameplan I'd sack at the point we are not going to play finals... I still like him but I doubt he can redeem himself.

I'm not sure about all this game plan bashing.
I reckon it's player driven.
Essendon to their credit really holed us up early on for most of the first half and players fell into the trap of holding it up and chopping it around which is so not for us.
Game turned into an embarrassing shittest from there on but the damage was done.
Every time we played that manic constant movement game we looked really dangerous but just couldn't sustain it. Better team won hands down.

TIME TO GO TO BED AND COME BACK TOMORROW WHEN THE FERALS HAVE SOBERED UP.

Some of us are completely sober. Some of us have been telling anyone who will listen that we are not very good. Some of us have to just shake our heads at the number of deluded fans who have convinced themselves into thinking otherwise.

Sorry to intrude guys, and I know you're gutted, but just wanted to drop in say how massively impressed I was with Vlaustin's game tonight. Skill, courage, determination, the kid as it all in spades. Got yourself a massive gun there!
Also as a side note, what has happened to Dustin Martin this year? Seems to be lacking the same penetration in his kicking as well as his ability to monster centre contests.
Anyway, all the best for the rest of the season :thumbsu:

mate we played badly and were beaten by 5 goals, not 20, we will still make the 8...

Don't post often but feel compelled to post tonight. This was vintage Richmond tonight, letting us all down on the big occasion and generally putting up a very poor performance. Amazing to think that if Dustin Mustin has snapped that goal (instead of hitting the post) we'd have been within about 16 points and with some real momentum. I suppose if there is a positive then it's that despite playing terrible we didn't allow them to completely run away with it, but at the end of the day when the game was there to be won we were right off the pace and this seems to happen against the top sides every time.

here are my thoughts:

- McGuane should be dropped and Aaron Edwards given a go
- Vickery was absolutely hopeless tonight but Subiaco can suit him and i think he should go to Perth and be played at Full forward (with Jack playing a little bit further up the ground)
- on the subject of jack, he had a very poor game tonight and this is becoming too much of a regular occurance
-Deledio is a problem. can't shake the tag. perhaps need to play him in different positions around the ground rather than persisting with him in midfield. perhaps either half back or even half forward and rotating through the midfield in parts.
-we miss Tuck and Knights (stating the obvious be deserves another mention)
- king and nahas very poor tonight. combined with mcGuane & Jackson that's 4 players with sub standard skills in the side.
- i don't think i can handle Daniel Jackson's disposal any longer. it's beyond a joke
- Maric is getting beating in the ruck pretty much every week and i am very concerned about the west coast game in this regard. we are in desperate need of a quality ruck man. got smashed in the clearances tonight and i'd be putting that largely down to this.
- not sure about lonhergan. obviously his mistake in the last quarter was very costly but dont think he was the worst on the night.
- out coached again. opposition sides seem to have us worked out.

lastly - a lot negative comments on here about white. personally i thought that he did an excellent job when he came on and gave us some run and spark and did some good things. should get a game next week IMO.

I'm sorry Rodney but I didn't see Brisbane needing to do that last week and we have more talent than they do. The game plan lost us the game plain and simple.
Just because Brisbane Didnt do it doesn't mean it's not player driven.
Our players looked lost and stagnated against Essendons tactics.
Firstly I think Essendon to their credit adopted this specifically against us whereas they thought they'd just roll up and beat Brisbane.
Secondly Brisbane last week just ran and moved constantly which probably has more to do with the first point.

you guys need to realise we're still two years off being a top 4 side.

You guys need to realise we aren't much good and that it's not simply a matter of picking a random number out of your backside as to when that will no longer be the case; instead, you need to face up to the fact that it will no longer be the case when we recruit a sufficient number of talented players and turn them into champions - something this club has failed to do for more than three decades

No to Aaron Edwards. Please. Stop with this junk footballers.

Play the kids. Get them developed at senior level rather than rotting for that shit club Coburg. We have two perfectly able kids ready to go. Griffiths and Elton. We are not a top 6 team, so I don't care if we use this as another development year. Dea, Arnot, Helbig, instead of the Whites, Nahas and Lonergans. Please.

We carry too many players who wouldn't get a game at any other club.

Agreed. We have half a dozen players that would struggle to get a game in the seconds at another club.

Bring in McBean. Looks too skinny but can take a grab and is good on the ground. Vickery can't. But McGuane may have to go bcos Vickery can ruck. Or do you bring in O and change them at full forward...doesn't sound right even as I wrote that.
Nahas has to go. It's the turnovers that kill us. White's first kick was embarrassing. Jackson, please. I love his hardness and work ethic but his skills are horrible and his stop start decision making, ****.
I thought Lonergan was ok, Newman was great, as was Rance, Chaplin.
Centre bounce and clearances were appalling. You can't win with those results.
Gutted right now because I can't see us fielding a team right now that is competitive against a good side.
Tuck, Grimes, Ellis and Conc has killed us.

People need to get off the aaron edwards bandwagon. Admittedly I too thought he would be a great addition to the side, but if given 5 second of thought, it is clear that he won't add anything new or exciting that will increase our overall performance as a team. If anything we need less of his type - mature age, washed up, overrated VFL heroes and need more quality young talent with guts and sense above the shoulders - Vlas and ellis. Please if you're going to keep saying Aaron edwards should come in, please explain why and what he adds to the team that we don't have. Vickery jack and macguane can all do that when given a good delivery and all three have more to offer to the table. The bold is what the real problem is.

No, mate, we didn't play badly. We played to the best of our extremely limited ability. Three big challenges this year. Three five-goal plus defeats. Time to face up to the fact that this team is powerless to stop decent opposition. This fact was written all over Hardwick's face at the Geelong press conference. He looked defeated. Clueless.

Mate it's game plan, I have never seen footballers choose to chip the ball around the back line. Which is why we have only seen it a lot in more recent history because coaches think it makes teams control the game better. We needed to attack them and realise that our ability to beat them one on one in defence was better than their ability to stop us running through the midfield or at halfback. We didn't take the early risks and it cost us. I blame the coach 100%, he should have backed our players to win one on one. It was the worst game plan I have ever seen us play... Wallace was a much better coach and I hate the prick!.

Well said. We were beaten by our own coach tonight.
