Guys I hate to say it, but I told you so. Maric was terrible Saturday night and was clearly exposed one out in the ruck. Big mistake not playing the Big Orrenson. I have no doubt John will be in the side this week as you face NIC NAT and Big Cox.

Need Orrenson in this team. Makes you look that 20% better.

Mcuzzy you are the bomb mate!! Really though, you have to look at your performances with Orro in compared to when he is out and he has a bloody good record. Just feeeeeeeellll the love for Orrenson guys and stop treating him as if he is some sort of joke. I would love to meet him because I actually think the guy is a super talent but just been unlucky. FFS DIMMA GIVE THE GUY THE NUMBER ONE RUCK DUTY FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR AND THE TIGER ARMY WILL SEE SEPTEMBER ACTION FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 12 SEASONS. IT WILL ALL BE OFF THE BACK OF ONE MAN....................... JOHN ORRRRRENNNNNNSSSSONNNN

I agree and have posted that I was surprised he was taken out. I thought Vickery would have to wait a little longer to get back in to be honest.

Mark Robinson agrees...

"Ruckman Ivan Maric is not having the same effect as last year and the ruck separation rule might be hurting him. The second ruck spot is a huge issue.
Vickery is not cutting it, so maybe it's best to leave him as a key forward and play Orrenson against West Coast's Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui.
Aaron Edwards might be afforded a spot as the lead-up forward."

have to admit it, bringing in orren wouldn't be the worst move this week...

drop mcguane (if vickery is ok), bring in orren.. gives jack and ty more space and ivvy can drift forward or back to intercept. rotate thet two between the bench occasionally rest them forward.

Orren is VFL standard. Was destroyed by Jamar when we rested Maric the other week. If Jamar does that to him what will Nic Nat and Cox do? Orren was also in poor form for Coburg on the weekend.

There is definitely an issue with Maric though. Not a shadow of 2012 Maric. Winning half the amount of hitouts, can't jump, looks like he's wearing cement boots and fumbling marks. You don't fall that far away at his age unless you're carrying an injury.

We will get destroyed in the ruck no matter what we try against West Coast

Just watched a replay of Coburg v Port...gee I really like Liam McBean...very smart footballer...pure footballer brain.
Agile, good over head, good below the knees.
Just needs to muscle up and we have an ideal support for Jack.
Hope to see him debut sometime soon.
As for the other tigers players playing currently for Coburg.....unfortunately meh...Arnot has the endeavour, but turns it over, Verrier shows class but doesn't get enough of it, Dea is in the thick of it but lots of changers, Astbury and Griffo not bad but still need time to work on their skills

As others have said, besides McBean, the cupboard is bare...lets hope recruiters are out there looking

I know you have man love for Jackson but he is a tagger and didn't tag a soul last night. His disposal is 50/50, his speed is slow and his decision making is often in question. He also rarely kicks to a lead. He has played some good games this year but he is never going to be a match winner as a player or tagger and unfortunately all midfielders need to have that capability.
Jacko's biggest issue is he is a momentum killer. When he gets the footy, generally it is stop, and more than likely kick back or sideways, or if not, kick it high as far forward as he can. He is undoubtedly very good at contested work, and winning the footy, but he is a momentum killer against the better sides, and we won't get better until he is replaced. Beginning to have the same thoughts with Grigg, but would perservere with him as he finds space and runs all day.

The issue that stood out for me last week was the amount of players with poor footskills in the side. We need to bring in some better users of the footy.

This week I'd include Astbury for a little bit more height down back against Darling, Kennedy, Cox and Naitanui.

I'd also bring in Helbig for another run, this time not playing him down back because he is NOT a backman.

White keeps the sub's vest because that is his ideal position. Extremely unlikely, but if Conca is ready I would play him as sub and drop White.

B: Morris Rance Astbury
HB: Batchelor Chaplin Houli
C: Newman Cotchin Grigg
HF: Deledio Vickery Edwards
F: McGuane Riewoldt King
FOL: Maric Martin Foley
INT: Jackson Vlastuin Helbig
SUB: White

In: Astbury, Helbig
Out: Lonergan, Nahas

2. The Tigers can't yet match it with the best
Richmond has aspirations to make the finals and so it should. But if the Tigers are going to do that they will need to start beating the sides above them and not only the ones below. Having already been outpointed by Collingwood, Geelong and Fremantle (only just) this year, Essendon showed the Tigers were still some way off in Saturday night's Dreamtime at the 'G contest. The 29-point loss flattered Richmond, for the Bombers could easily have run out winners to the tune of 10 goals. There is undoubted talent at Punt Road but so far this season the Tigers haven't proved they belong alongside the best just yet. - Callum Twomey

they gradually introduced their players- because they had leaders and stars already on the park. we dont have any. delidio, martin, cotchin are not leaders in the true sense or have taken the next step under hardwick. they should have but they have not. this is a problem for us. whilst I hear what you say I say their cant be any harm in throwing someone in. you cant say vickery is the star we wanted or needed, again his development is not happening. I would rather see big griff in there.

I agree that Vickery will never be the star that we hoped he would be, averaging 40+ goals a year and providing adequate support in the ruck. Although, exposing Mcbeanstalk at his age will just destroy his confidence and stall his development. The forward line needs change on the asap and Aaron Edwards may/or may not be the answer, but we need to start experimenting as the current forward line has been worked out by the opposition.

The forward line is struggling because of our unbelievably slow ball movement from D50 and through midfield. All of the switching and chipping around we do is killing our swift ball movement allowing opposition to flood back and crowd F50, making life for our forwards almost impossible. The contrast to last year is astounding to me and we need to revert to it again asap or season gonski!!!

Saturday was the extreme of how badly we were moving the ball and if we had even been half decent at transitioning the ball, we would have beaten the Bombers IMO, as they did not impress me at all.

Surely credit must go to the Bombers for how well they shut down our transition. Stood out massively to me. They really strangled us.

Yeah sure, credit to them but where was our run and carry forward? Where was our run support from behind? Non existant is the answer!! We were far too content to just pass it around in our D50 and we paid a very heavy price for that. It was our lack of run, that beats the forward press and flooding, that killed us. That and our inability to stick a tackle on many occasions hurt us, as did the number of times players fell over.

My answer would be it's partly about having the will, and guts to take the game on - we failed. But my point was that Essendon were so good at zoning back and shutting that run and carry down. They simply worked a damn sight harder than we did. I'm sure it wasn't our preferred way of playing to chip it in circles around our back half, until we managed to turn it over. It was largely due to the way Essendon played, and the fact that we were never daring enough to take the game on, or have a plan B when the original plan was clearly being shut down by a well disciplined opposition.

I know McBean needs to be managed carefully but maybe it is time he played in the seniors. He is not your typical tall forward, he kicks goals by crumbing the ball and he is good below his feet, by reports. We could try playing McBean as a forward only and use Maric and Vickery in the ruck. McBean could take McGuane's position in the team. McBean might not have the body to win marking contests one on one but the ball hitting the ground in the forward line, is where McBean should have the advantage over his opponent. McBean leading to space would give the midfielders a target to kick to as well, similar to Aaron Edwards.
