You Beauty!!! One of the happiest days of my life, words cannot describe how emotional I am.

Perth were fantastic, they're run to the cup was just as impressive as ours. They'll end their silverware drought soon.

Very happy that we've finally won some silverware after so long.

Good on the Reds, deserved FFA Cup champs having beaten 5 A-League teams en route to the podium. Glory basically didn't create a single decent scoring chance, really we did well to keep it to 0-1. Good to see Galekovich finally win something as he has been a great servant for United for a very long time.

I said last week was our worst performance for 2014/15 so far, but tonight takes the cake. I don't care about any 'hangover', I don't care about a 3 day break, that was absolute garbage.

Good thing I put $20 on the Jets who were $4.50...

Story in the Advertiser after Reds won the FFA cup with a goal from Cirio.

"You can't be Cirio!"

If they're going to paraphrase John McEnroe they could at least get the quote right,

"You CANNOT be serious!"

Sydney 0 Adelaide 3 - back in the winner's circle with a big second half.

Poor first half, but a much better second half, although all the yellows we copped was just not good enough discipline-wise.

In just 5 days we host the 'Nix & sadly we'll be missing Eugene (Socceroos camp), Boogaard, Elrich (both suspended), Malik, Ferriera & Carrusca (injured). While Wellington will only be missing Burns to Socceroos camp (provided they have no suspensions and/or injuries), so it's gonna even tougher against an in-form outfit.

Looks like Alan Pardew is about to leave Newcastle mid-season to save Crystal Palace. Let the St James Park circus begin again!

Isn't that a backwards move, or at least sideways?

For Palace or Newcastle?

Pardew isn't a terrible manager, he has had a difficult job at Newcastle with Ashley's zero cost transfer policy, top players sold out from under him and little say in transfers, not to mention outright hostility from a section of the supporter base.

He's had some good results and bad results, be interesting to see how he goes at a club where he is actually allowed to manage.

For Pardew.

Surely Palace aren't much better resourced than Ashley's Newcastle.

I think he's been worn down by the supporter hostility and Ashley's transfer policy. He's moving back home and to the club he played for. He'll be the manager rather than a glorified coach.

Newcastle is a bigger club and not in a relegation battle at this time, but Palace might let him spend in January and choose his players.

Ashley is very frugal and incoming players generally have to be financed by outgoing. Rumour was Pardew had already been told there would be no new players coming in the January transfer window.

Fair enough, I was also unaware of Pardz' playing history. Newcastle could be so much better as a club than they are under Mike Ashley.

They're a funny old club. I imagine supporting them is like supporting St Kilda. It's been years since they won anything (1969 Fairs Cup if memory hasn't failed me), every now and again they look competitive but still manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - see Keegan 1995-96.

They have a much more storied tradition than the Saints but there are parallels.

I'm a nominal Newcastle supporter these days but don't have the emotional investment of the Geordies. Somehow from somewhere they find hope every year.
