The highest marks of yesterday’s matches in Brazil go to the Minas-Gerais state-league Grand Final between Atlético (black) and Cruzeiro (blue):

I wonder what the other 21 players were doing that didn’t get engaged in the melee…

P.S.: Both clubs also play in the top national league.

A special envoy to US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he has asked FIFA to remove Iran from this summer's World Cup and replace them with Italy.

Iran's involvement in the summer tournament has been in question after the United States and Israel began air attacks on Iran in February. The World Cup will be co-hosted by the US, Mexico and Canada, but all of Iran's group-stage games are scheduled to be in the United States.

The Azzurri haven't qualified for the World Cup since 2014 but the Financial Times have reported that US special envoy Paolo Zampolli is seeking to have them parachuted in, with Iran being removed.

The plan is an effort to repair ties between Trump and Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after the two fell out amid the American president's attacks against Pope Leo XIV over the Iran war, the FT reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

"I confirm I have suggested to Trump and [FIFA president Gianni] Infantino that Italy replace Iran at the World Cup," Zampolli said.

"I'm an Italian native and it would be a dream to see the Azzurri at a US-hosted tournament. With four titles, they have the pedigree to justify inclusion,"

Iran qualified for a fourth successive World Cup last year but after the start of the war requested that ‌FIFA move the team's three group matches from the US to Mexico.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said on a visit to an Iran squad training camp in Turkey last month that all matches would take place as scheduled, while offering the team help with preparations for the tournament.

I've been watching the redevelopment of Barcelona's Camp Nou for several years. From proposals before Real Madrid started their redevelopment construction of the Bernabeu stadium in 2019 and finally completed at Christmas 2023, to the demolition of a big chunk of the Camp Nou stadium in June 2023 to this week.

Unlike the Bernabeu it wont have a retractable roof and retractable pitch to be a multi-purpose stadium, its football first, and it wont have a 360 degree vision screen/board but have 3 large screens at the top of the fixed roof, because of economic reality and structural efficiency. The fixed roof will cover 100% of seats from rain.

The last 10 months or so I've been looking at footage 2 or 3 times a month. Its a massive project. They did have 99,354 seats and now will have 105,000 seats.

Time lapse between June 2023 when demolition started and to end of 2024. They keep the original 2 tiered bowl from 1957. There had been several additions since 1957.

What its supposed look like when finished in mid to late 2027. The blue part of the roof will be solar panels. The white part of the roof is a lightweight structure made of a combined mixture of ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene), PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), and polycarbonate coatings.

Last year they decided to add a Skywalk / Roof Climb like AO to earn extra revenue.

Looks like it may be down to a battle between the two London clubs, West Ham and Tottenham for survival in the EPL after Nottingham Forest went 8 points clear of 18th Spurs by smashing edgie's Sunderland 0-5 overnight. West Ham are 2 points clear of Spurs - they play Everton at home, while Spurs play already relegated Wolves away tonight.

Two sides I really don't want to see relegated but Tottenham in particular belong in the EPL
